The most popular series in Japan aired before it became this easy to just upload work to pixiv and sadpanda. And people don't often go back to old series when drawing r34.
More recent series like Build Fighters and 00 got a decent amount of art. G-Reco wasn't very popular, so it didn't.

I think why is that held to be vanilla considering that it has beam weapons, luna titanium armor, a core block system, can combine with other machines and has a learning computer. All of which can be classified as gimmicks, and that people probably just see it as vanilla because it was the first and so it established a base, with anything more qualifing as a gimmick because it's more than that machine had.

I prefer Strike as an RX-78-2 variant though, since I think it does the same idea in a more visually pleasing manner.

Yes, but I'm not sure about them being in the regular version because as far as I know there were a few maps and units you'd get by downloading. The ROMs you can find online have all the extra things and since the game is mostly UC-driven I'm not sure they would be present.

I never noticed it, but isn't this Fa's ANT voice? I mean, it was released just a few months before Z, so they probably had the voice clips lying around, but that is kind of strange.
AP also gave a few pilots, like Tetsuya, their Z1 portraits, and made new portraits in that same style for some pilots like Kazuya or the Wing dudes, but this particular thing just sticks out to me as super weird.
