So I recently picked this game up for about $20 on amazon. even though I'm early in, I'm having fun with it.
anyone else play this game? watch the anime?Maybe one day W will be localized too?
I tried playing this but the initial story/tutorial and early game took too long and was too restrictive so I just stopped.

Around the time you get Kazuya, things start opening up. there are a few moments where you're restricted, but it's usually for no more than a single battle.
it's nowhere near as bad as the Gundam Age PSP game. I mean. FUCK.

of all of the americanized name changes, I will NEVER understand why they changed Jin to JUSTIN. Daiki to Dak is just as confusing.
We haven't had one of these in a while, probably since the threads (that you can't even look up for the memories on the archive anymore due to the whole archive.moe meltdown) used the hype of the anime finally having reached the States (mainly) and a few other new countries as a vehicle to discuss the show, until Disney XD knocked the poor blue guy on his ass, and took the show off the air last October in the middle of second season reruns. The blame also likely lies with the Japanese companies directly behind the show's US distribution for being lax in their promotion of the show and not constantly pushing out new episodes.
There's a silver lining, however, which is actually the main reason for this thread: to be a PSA that the elusive dub for Stand By Me featuring the US VAs, that was first shown at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2014 and only a few other places since then, was found on Japan's iTunes and ripped:
http://www.nyaa.se/?page=view&tid=838009
and I guess this is also timely since Doraemon is starting his Olympic mascot gig and showed up in that video preview thing next to Mario and others.
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2016-08-21/japanese-prime-minister-cosplays-as-mario-at-the-olympics/.105627
The movie was pretty good. It takes and mixes some stories from the manga, adds to them, and wraps them up into one cohesive, self-contained whole, so that even people unfamiliar with the franchise can drop in (but it should probably be noted that the longer the history with Doraemon someone has, the bigger the payoff will be). The CG is one of the best to come out of Japan, even rivaling western productions, and the dub's cast (JP VAs go without saying here) puts on nice and familiar performances with more variation than in the TV show.
It wasn't the tearjerkerfor methat it was for most of Japan, but the emotional and heartier moments were strong, pulled off quite well, and served to deepen my own love of the series in the end. Some of these being:
>Shizuka's dad consoling her, approving of her marriage to Nobita, and even sticking up for him.(In the dub, Steve Blum voiced Shizuka's dad in that scene. He was amazing in it.)
>The scenes where present/kid Nobita and future Nobita interact with each other, particularly the snowstorm one(Golden line: "We've got each other's backs... literally.")
>The scenes where Doraemon has to get ready to leave to go back to the future, where he's even broken up about it, but can't do anything about it because he is forced to
And the movie isn't even ENTIRELY a dramatic affair like the advertising would have people believe; there's equal parts comedy fun to balance it out.
Also, this has like the best depiction of the future of the show. There's still a little of the charmingly hokey Fujiko Fujio retro-future in there, but everything is so modern and impressive-looking this time around.

Was this the same crew that dubbed the series?
What are some fun /m/ shows to watch? I just finished Patlabor and It was really fun ride. Some other fun shows I've seen are FMP, Dai-Guard, Dominion Tank Police, Outlaw Star and Dirty Pair.
Gall Force
Gunbuster

Gurren Lagann, G Gundam, Gundam Build Fighters
To be more precise, I'm looking something with not too much drama and more comedy.
I've already seen everything mentioned in this thread.

What is that mutation of Cucuruz Doan?
>>14749576
I always switch the Z and the N in my head because Cucuruz just sounds wrong to me.
It's like typing
>jekyll watch --serve
instead of
>jekyll serve --watch
I've been watching SEED and just reading her name as Bad Girl.
Why do they have her VA to voice two major supporting character in here?

Super 1 movie?
>>14748200
Super-1 had a movie during its first half and I know HK subs of it exist, the DL pastebin mentions it as one of the missing movies for downloads. Plot centers around a flying dragon on a rocket wheel.
What's a good place to get some /m/ apparel?

Dig through Cospa on whatever site you use to order stuff from Japan?
Whats /m/s thoughts on AC Gen 5? (V-VD), it seems to be like a minority passionately enjoy it because apparently, "it takes more skill", but personally I cannot get used to it compared to all the other AC games.
>>14747122
I love the feeling of movement in VD.
Feels clunky and fast.
VD was also my first game though.
>>14747122
I prefer the general art style, designs, and gameplay of ACFA/AC4 but I felt like ACV/VD decided to be more team-based/tactical which in its own way worked.
For the next AC them i would prefer a return to the For Answer speed of gameplay.
Biggest complaint I have is that it is designed to be played pretty much only in Japan, the netcode in typical FROM fashion is written with the asumption it's connecting people who live relatively close to one another.
It ties to the other problems perceived of the games, namely how well the damage system is implemented. The idea of working as a 4 unit hit team plus operator falls apart when lag sets in and makes it impossible to scout and spec damage optimally.
At any rate, VD at the least is a game whose highs are pretty damn high. There's a lot of meat to the game even as the single player comes off as being at its most anemic. The UNACS system is pretty much a game in its own right, one with little to no documentation making it a massive barrier to entry for what is ostensibly a sequel to Formula Front.
Will we ever know if these motherfuckers survived SDF-2?
Who cares? They're the most bland protagonists.
>>14746640
Yes they are a bit bland but their timeline is the best Macross has to offer, they could still create one last great movie
I just wanna know if there's something awaiting in stores for them or if they just got fucked by a black hole

Their story is over. You need to move on already.
Anyone build this yet? How was it?

I'd rather watch rugby. Or maybe Australian Rules. American Football.is kind of meh.

The hits in rugby aren't hard enough for my taste. They only seem hard because the lack of pads means even the smallest of scrapes leads to blood.
What mech would she pilot?
