Hello, so I have been re-reading paradise lost lately, and something is book 4 really tickled me for some reason. Lines 292-299
>The image of their glorious maker shone,
Truth, wisdom, sanctitude severe and pure,
Severe, but in true filial freedom plac'd,
Whence true authority in men; though both
Not equal, as their sex not equal seem'd;
For contemplation he for valour firm'd,
For softness she and sweet attractive grace,
He for God only, she for God in him.
I was wondering what you guys thought of this. I am pretty pleb when it comes to analyzing shit.
I kind of took it as to mean that while men in women look unequal in appearances. Men have all the mean to be a creator yet none of the ability, and women have all the ability to be a creator yet none of the means. So the differences cannot be quantumfiable?

God made Eve for Adam, as he made Adam for himself. The rest is Milton summarizing 1 Peter 3, a wife must honor her husband.
Does anyone have any experience with self publishing?
I know, I know but getting published feels nigh impossible.

Either look around at the other threads and hunt him down or maybe if I talk about him here we can summon gas-kun to assist you.

Look into how Hitler got Mein Kampf published despite being an enemy of the state and all the book publishing jews.
Don't self publish under your name unless you want future publishers to search your name and drop you after they see you only sold a few copies.

Flex those literary muscles my brothers and sisters.
The thing about meetings is that a group mind takes over, and this is inevitable and proper. Every action of every person serves as a function of the group, even detachment, which is the same as the parts of you that meander through the day ignoring your own inner life, and the way for groups to succeed is for people to stop thinking about themselves and express the needs of the group, in every group context. People with social anxiety suffer, more than anything else, from selfishness that they have masked as victimhood.

How to approach a text with writer's intent? Let me clarify what I mean by this. How do I read a novel while at the same time paying attention not only to the plot and its theme but to its structure? I want to learn the ins and outs of novels: how a character is introduced, how certain types of scenes are architected, how to show the passage of time, how to pick up the pace and then slow it down etc.
>>9816676
Read it over and over again. Read it once for feeling, if you still can. You can analyze your way through on a first read but that kills the enjoyment for me.
>inb4 he reads for fun
Take note of when and how characters are introduced. What is their first action? What was their next and so on until they have an effoct on the plot. Did the author mislead you? Or did you mislead yourself? Take note of settings and mood, and which characters are used when. Just read it over and over and keep your brain on senpai.

Adding: there are books out there that can guide you or offer formulas. Especially aimed at screenwriters. Fuck that. I want you to write something original. Do the above for a few books and you'll pick up your own interpretation of their techniques and (more importantly) get some ideas of your own.

Anyone read this book?
I had the author as a teacher a while back and am very interested in metaphysics...
Is it an analytic shitshow or actually interesting?
>>9816309
Something being analytic doesn't make it a shitshow. That's an unreflective attitude you'd do well to dispense with. Yes, that's a pretty good introduction to analytic metaphysics
