Anything and everything from this movement.
To kick off discussion this is a great reading of "A Season in Hell":

Keep it literature related or I will report your thread.

Obviously I meant literature faggot.
Are we to consider Pound to be symbolist? Obviously he's also a modernist, influenced by symbolists, but a pure one?
What does /lit/ think of The Prophet?
peanut butter unto him
>>7631308
I like it, a lot.
>inb4 edgy contrarians
Some of the most beautiful poetry I've read.
His philosophical/spiritual messages shouldn't be taken seriously however.
How many of you write?
What do you write?
Do you think you're any good?
Do you think you'll get published?
>>7630822
>>7630835
did I ask?
>>7630835
If anyone here is lost, it's you.
So /lit/, what are you reading? I picked this up yesterday and I'm really enjoying it.
Just over half way through A Farewell to Arms. Really enjoying it so far.
The Process, by Kafka. So far it has been really enjoyable.
Hey guys /lit/ scrub here
So I read the sticky and bought this book. Now the problem is that Im struggling big time. Ive read for hours and im only on page 25. I keep on zoneing out almost falling asleep. Any advice or good youtube tutorials how to read faster/better/whatever would be great, thanks.
1) Why are you reading it? Only to prep you for the Greeks? If yes, then just read the sections on the families, the heroes, and the Trojan War.
2) Take breaks in your reading; drink some coffee or tea.
>>7630659
Im reading it because I want my brain to get some kind of exercise other than just headbashing itself against the wall whilst im playing D3 all day long. Also I want to get down to the philosophers and then later nietchze thats my goal in terms of authors.
Well, I feel like im running a marathon by just reading two pages in this book every time. I dont think taking breaks is the problem solver here
>>7630677
Sounds like you've ruined your brain playing video games and masturbation. Sorry bud it's a long road to recovery
Do you listen to audiobooks /lit/?
I've tried to, but unless the narrator has a deep baritone voice, I find them absolutely unlistenable; female voices particularly are terrible.
Honestly The Disaster Artist is probably the only book made better in audio form due to Greg's fantastic Tommy impressions as well as narrating his own story.
>>7628466
Female voices are simply inferior to male in all respects. It's because women simply don't understand the ethical, aesthetic, and spiritual import of being a human being.
They're like dogs or children, simply inferior, and barely more conscious than rocks.
Let's face it, they're only wet holes and otherwise worthless
>>7628466
>its a "Greg talking about his non-The Room related acting experiences chapter"
>>7628470
i think this is satire.
What are the most essential self-help books or just ones that you would recommend to read?
n-none?
book of the courtier is the only one that you should maybe consider reading/is worthwhile, but that's only if you're invested in understanding some of the social/courtly aspects of culture in the ~16th - 17th centuries
>>7627192
The bible is the only one you need
Meditations by my man Marcus.
hey /lit/
how many of you write short stories?
do you share them or keep them on your pc/journal?
any online recommendation to get some visibility? I want to start writing but I wish someone would actually read it
>>7626002
Don't share online until you're ready to ask for money. "writers" prey off people posting good ideas for free, so start by talking to friends you trust in order to build in the directions you think will help your work. When you have a strong draft have someone with an eye for punctuation read it and offer ideas to edit it. Only show your work to people who want to help you succeed.
>>7626002
don't listen to >>7626035
instead share your stories with me at [email protected] and I'll publish them online under my name and collect $2.75 in the next year in the royalties I get from selling your work on amazon. Thank you for your time, and keep reading Vern & Sisters publications.
just start writing, lazy fucker.
how can i encourage myself to be a bookworm?
>he is a bookworm
>she is a bookworm
>we are all bookworms
>...
>BOOKWORM
Read books you like and go up from there.
quick someone post the avid reader
I feel that many /lit/ users attending university live in constant fear of outing themselves as a /lit/izen in the eyes of other damn /lit/ users taking the same classes. Let's have a discussion about this. Pic related, one of the readings for my comparative literature class.
>>7631580
I'm also doing comp lit atm, What do you want to discuss?
>>7631587
Where are you going to school?
>I feel that many /lit/ users attending university live in constant fear of outing themselves as a /lit/izen in the eyes of other damn /lit/ users taking the same classes
No? Why?
Would anybody be able to help e grasp the concept of dualism and how it pertains to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. I'm writing a research paper over it and would really appreciate the help.

Which translation?
>>7631451
I like Pasternak's book adaptation.
>>7631451
Russian
I think P/V is fine in a lot of cases and /lit/ overreacts/memes about their deficiencies too much, but I think this (along with Master and Margarita) are cases where P/V is the objectively inferior choice.
Go with the original Harari/Hayward translation.
Has anyone watched the Infinite Jest movie starring Jason Segel?
Yes, I actually really loved it!
Totally recommend.
It's garbage. Didn't capture well DFW at all.
Touching film with a great performance by Segel, who completely outweighed that obnoxious Jew Eisenberg's performance. Went in expecting to hate it and left with a stolen redbox dvd.
Hello /lit/
