How many books by non-white authors do you read on average (per year)?
I have a feeling that /lit/'s taste has become even more Euro-centric in the last few months
Maybe 5 - 10.
They are predominantly Asian though, which apparently doesn't score me any SJW-points.
Is Borges eurocentric?
Anyway I find it really bizarre when blacks are commended for only reading Afro-centric work and women only reading women writers but the notion that A european explore the identity of the vast continents of Eurasia is somehow narrow and problematic

None.
Why do Marxist "philosophers" still exist?
What makes Marxist schools of thought so trendy throughout the humanities?
Greed.

Marx was an early and important sociologist/economist/philosopher who tackled issues we still deal with today and influenced everyone after him.
Also Popper's "falsification" can't be used for his own social philosophies...

Why are you posting this again?
Everyone agreed it was shit last time you made this thread.
Max Brooks is the second coming of Joyce. He transcends the sublime, and every word is filled with weight and allegory. You can read this book from the perspective of any literary or critical theory and it JUST WORKS. The breadth of plot and the lushness of the world developed are outdone only by the masterful weaving of prose around characterization. At times the author veers into descriptions and tangents related to the mythos of the universe and then just when he begins to lose you he grasps you firmly and pulls you RIGHT BACK IN. It is so uncommon when a work of genre fiction crosses over to a literary masterpiece that it is almost jarring, but Brooks' only peers in this, Seth Grahame-Smith and David Foster Wallace, stand as children before a mighty equestrian statue, one that will no doubt stand firm against the sands of time and literary criticism. Nothing less than a master's masterwork.
If she is dead and Tao Lin is still alive, does this prove that God has abandoned us or that He is simply malevolent?

i only read the title essay and it was pretty clear that her audience was yale and yale only. is her other stuff any good?
Alright /lit/, I checked the wiki and couldn't find any specific charts for him, does anybody have an idea what order might be most simple to tackle his work?
Also, if you have a particular piece that you enjoyed by him, do feel free to explain why.
Everything is golden, you can start with the Education Sentimentale, move on to Salammbô and make your way to Madame Bovary
Would be a shame reading him translated though, his real brilliance could only be expressed in French
>>7710838
I am currently learning French, but I feel I can at least get a grasp of his original brilliance in his translations and bhave a foundation for when I read them in French.
Also, thanks for the list based anon.
Three Tales --> Salammbô --> Sentimental Education --> Madame Bovary --> Bouvard and Pécuchet
Read The Temptation of Saint Anthony whenever you want
Was it grape?
Were they apes?

Nope, raisins.
Frugalfag here. What are cheap and easy ways to buy books without shopping online?
>>7714065
A used bookstore you mongloid. Chances are a local library near you will occasionally sell off books for pretty cheap as well.
>>7714065
Libraries sometimes have book purging where they sell off a lot of books at once. The library near me basically charges 10 bucks for however many I can carry away in one trip.
You can also dedicate a lot of your weekend every month or so scrounging the goodwill. They usually have a large selection of 99 precent crap but once and a while you'll find something good.
Both of those options don't let you choose what you want though.

ITT: Philosophers that really make you think
>>7713900
His entire philosophy is literally "lol i only know what is good for me, you figure out what is good for you faggot"
Nietzsche is one of the few men who actually demands that his readers think. It's sad that most of them don't seem to pick up on that.
>>7713900
Ben Stiller doesn't really count as a philosopher.
>>7713946
