Has /lit/ ever had to re-write a story they loved so many times that they started to hate writing?

I've been doing that over the pat week and it hurts so bad

I've posted pretty much every version of the first several pages in the crit threads over the past two weeks. They're petty cringe worthy but that's not the biggest problem. The problem is that I've tried to fix it so many times I'm having trouble caring about the project anymore.

I'm bored with it.

The thing is, it's a multi-perspective story so I could pick up with another character and come back to this one later, but so few of my characters have been developed yet that there's really only three out of five characters I can work with, one of them being the one I'm giving up on

goodreads was just a scheme by a jew to get a bunch of dummies to write a bunch of book reviews for free and then sell it all to amazon for a small fortune, basically a judaic shakedown built on the free labor of naive nerds

Hey /lit/

Are there any books that would actually help you get better at debating?

I've been looking for a book like that for a while but I can't seem to find anything. Some people suggested that I study philosophy or/and law but I'm not too sure about that.

Any ideas?

Dear /lit/,
Since I'm not a native speaker, I'd like to improve my English. Have you got any suggestion of books to read? Nothing too hard, but at the same time nothing too easy/childish.

Thank you.

pic kinda related since I'm Italian

Gibbon and Hume. Hemingway if you want "plain" American, Thomas Hardy if British.
>>
>>7712401
Not considering Hemingway, wouldn't they be too much archaic?

By Hemigway I've only read The old man and the sea, is there anything in particular I should start with?
>>
>>7712423
No, their English is probably the most beautiful high English I have ever read.

Churchill's History of the English Speaking People is another good one.

For Whom the Bell Tolls is my favorite Hemingway.

ITT: We describe mundane and everyday things with ridiculous embellishment or exaggeration.
I'll start;

It was hot that day and I became more perched with each step on my journey. By pure serendipity I came upon a dispenser of canned refreshments. This automatic vendor required money to be operated, which I duly presented. The machine purred and wheezed when I inserted the coin and pressed the button, yet no beverage came out. “Come on you bastard,” I said. There was no reply. Unrelenting, I proceeded to hammer the side of the device with the open palm of my hand. All while eagerly eyeing the product tray expecting the receptacle of liquid which would deliver me from my thirst. When no such reward presented itself I became increasingly frantic and desperate, hurling insults at the byzantine contraption that stood before me. After a short while it dawned on me that my efforts were fruitless and that I would need outside assistance in retrieving the prize within or at the very least reclaim my lost funds.
I proceeded to walk inside the establishment nearby which by all likelihood owned and operated this piece of faulty machinery. Expecting justice to be done I entered within...

I'd rather point out the flaws in your paragraph.

>misuse of serendipity
>palm of my hand. All while etc. should be part of the same sentence
In addition to those errors, I suggest you google "comma."

Should I make my place names real or fictional? I was thinking about basing most of my story in the French overseas collectivity Saint Pierre & Miquelon. No real reason why but it would allow me to use some nice Basque names and have beach scenes. Will I get sued by the 6,000 people who live there?
