What language(s) should one learn to be exposed to the most valuable literature? I'm starting to get overwhelmed how much I need to read can only be through trans*lation
>>8283490
Plebs learn German, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, etc
Contrarians learn Esperanto
Patricians learn Tuvan
sigh why do we have to have these stupid fucking threads every day. you said it yourself, OP: there's an "overwhelming" fucklot of shit in not English.
my advice? learn Greek and Latin. (but you can make a case for basically any language, which is why your question is dumb af.)
Hungarian
I'm looking for books similar to The Girls by emma cline and girls on fire by Robin (can't remember the last name). I can't put my finger on what exactly it is I'm looking for; maybe something like fucked up romances. I guess I'm looking for books that are haunting and will resonate after I read them
The Bed Moved by Rebecca Schiff. Short stories, but similar ideas. Fewer murders, though.
OP here, also, I'm looking for grim stories (not edgy or gritty, something more modern and less classic ), something, again, like girls on fire
I'd say girl with the dragon tattoo, but I'm guessing you want something a bit deeper. Who the fuck hasn't read that book?
Any good book suggestions about the history of war between the west (America) and the middle east?

This picture is such an adolescent interpretation of Christianity.
Alison Weir -Against Our Better Judgment: The Hidden History of How the U.S. Was Used to Create Israel -
The Transparent Cabal: The Neoconservative Agenda, War in the Middle East, and the National Interest of Israel - Stephen J. Sniegoski

I know I have been bamboozled when I googled the author "Stephen J. Sniegoski" and he has less results that my obscure porn fetish.
Hi /lit/, I was wondering who your favorite Queer writers of color are. I really like Roxane Gay, James Baldwin, and Audre Lorde, but they are all qpoc 101. Are there any more obscure writers that you'd recommend? Better still if they are female or transfemale.
Thanks
>>8283381
why do you categorize your authors by such thin margins that are all but irrelevant to the artform?
also, Delany I guess
>>8283381
Roxanne Gay is considered to be "problematic" by many feminists because she can't get beyond the past views of gender when discussing the topic. ie her essay "Bad Feminist" entirely hinges on the idea that she is a bad feminist not for actually supporting the patriarchy or the like, but because she likes "girly" things.
Yukio Mishima
I'm looking for recent horror fiction that is good. Please, decent suggestions.
Bump of the shameless self type.
Bump bump bump. Please I need suggestions
The Bible

It's hilarious
Parody of 19th century Russia, what's not to get? Read Petersburg Tales it's much better.

let's not do these things during the summer.
it's gonna turn into a vote and the summerfags from reddit and tumblr are going to sway the votes and next thing you know that green ball shit from Hitchhikers Guide to Faggotry is going to be the new sticky image.

Are you talking about adding it to the wiki? You can do that yourself. Just click and edit wherever you want to put it.
What do you mean by "add in all the authors"?

I would like to see this book under "Postmodernist" or "Depressing"
Have you read any homo lit?
>>8282971
I love homolit, especially the older stuff. Back when sodomy and other fun stuff was illegal, authors had rely on subtlety and allusion to get their point across, which resulted in some truly rich literature.
The sad paradox of modern gay lit is that the openness towards homosexuality has allowed writers to produce work with lower standards. Good news is that the smut's never been better.
>>8283403
Any examples of the old stuff? I'm genuinely interested
>>8282971
yes, A Single Man and Mrs. Dalloway are my favorites, what is with this barrage of sjw-undertoned threads tonight?
I feel like /lit/ is under the scrutiny of someine looking for reasons to complain

Why is online book piracy so behind the times?
Why aren't people racing to upload/download the latest releases?
Because the vast majority of /lit/-esque people are tech illiterate, or at least somewhat impaired.

intrasting
I use #ebooks mostly for older books, so I haven't noticed a lack of new releases, that's interesting.
What are you waiting to read her biography?
Yes.
She looks like a boy.
Does the book end with her admitting she is a lesbian, like Ellen Page?

>inb4 piss off /r9k/

You might have an easier time in life by ditching any conception of the sexual market
My diary desu senpai
read up on Nietzsche's slave morality
This woman did not deserve her success. Her success is an achievement of her marketers, PR and publishers, who spent tens of millions of dollars to launch her. i just hate how she walks around like this literary figure.
Have you read Harry Potter?
I enjoyed her books. They got me into reading
