He completely turned his back on poetry for the last two decades of his life, I don't think he held his works in high regard when he died.

What was Stirners history with Marx? What arguments did they have?

I can't find much info on this but I remember stuff mentioned about this

striner forced marx to never use moral arguments when advocating for communism

pretty based, but regrettably nowadays moral arguments are the only ones undergrads and other retards trot out in defense of communism
>>
>>8586799
Can you tell it in more detail?

How did stirner btfo marx
>>
What is crucial to understand is that in the German Ideology, Marx devoted around two thirds of the book to refute Max Stirner, because his thinking, if taken lightly, will shake the earth and destroy any hope for utopias.

i'm reading it right now. it has some absolutely great moments and I like the general ideas it presents, but at the same time it's frustratingly long-winded and filled with seemingly meaningless crap. i guess i'll end up liking it more towards the end, as it usually happens with longer novels.

What books should I read to gain a thorough understanding of Mexican culture and society (not necessarily classics but ones that encapsulate the country)?
Also which ones are in fact the classics?

t. Latin American but not Mexican.

The best 4 Mexican writers are Octavio Paz (a poet), Rulfo, Alfonso Reyes and Carlos Fuentes. They are all dead.

The best novel by a Mexican about Mexico is almost certainly Pedro Paramo by Rulfo, which is also probably the best Mexican book.

2 great novels about Mexico written by non Mexicans are The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene, and The Savage Detectives by Bolaño, who was Chilean but lived a few years in Mexico as a teenager and young adult.

I want to study literature but everyone keeps telling me to go for software engineering instead.

I want to learn to write, but not sure if literature is the right choice because it seems like a glorified high school teacher diploma teaching history of literature.

Will I learn to write like a master if I take some elective classes on grammar and figures of speech and read on the weekends the western canon from the library?

Will I learn to write if I besides studying grammar and figures of speech, learn also oratory and rethoric (maybe take some classes on that)?

What are some classes I can take that would be great towards learning to write?
Creative writing workshops?

>I want to study literature but everyone keeps telling me to go for software engineering instead.

Then study lit. If you get into a major you have no desire to be in, it's just going to cause trouble for you.

>I want to learn to write, but not sure if literature is the right choice because it seems like a glorified high school teacher diploma teaching history of literature.

It basically is this. You can't learn to write by studying lit, I had several lit professors tell me this flat-out. You learn to write by writing, that's it. A lit degree might not hurt this, and could broaden your horizons a little bit, but will do little to teach you how to write. Get a lit degree if you want to learn how to study lit in an academic sense.

>Will I learn to write like a master if I take some elective classes on grammar and figures of speech and read on the weekends the western canon from the library?

No, not necessarily. Some people have gone that path and become great writers, but they were potential great writers to begin with. 99% of these types are pretentious bullshitters who's stuff is painful to read.

>Will I learn to write if I besides studying grammar and figures of speech, learn also oratory and rethoric (maybe take some classes on that)?

I dunno, won't necessarily hurt, but won't necessarily help.

>What are some classes I can take that would be great towards learning to write?
Creative writing workshops?

None. They can't hurt, but just because you take them it won't necessarily help.

Most great writers will tell you to go to a keyboard, type, do what comes natural. If it's not natural, keep typing until it is.
>>

look bro.
I'm not a complete newfag in what entails to be a writer.

You can't seriously tell me go to write and you'll become a good writer.

If you haven't studied grammar, oratory, figures of speech, tropes, poetrhy metric, classical metric, rethoric, history, philosophy, theology you WONT BE A GOOD WRITER.

It doesn't matter how much you write if you haven't learn those topics, you will be an average mediocre faggot after 20 years of writing.

YOU CANT REACH A MASTER LEVEL BY JUST BLINDELLY WRITING FAGGOT.

I fucking hate y'all fags who keep telling me to simply write and not study grammar, fuck you.

I need some help with an essay for school.

The title is "Kilping's poetry from the colonial West justifies imperial and racist sentiments" (to what extent do you agree?)

For the sake of easy points, I'm going with yes, he was racist - but I need some help, how is racism reflected in his poetry? I've talked about the white man's burden, is there any other poems with good examples?

How come Oscar Wilde is so widely venerated as a cultural icon when he fugged little boys?

>In the company of Oscar Wilde, [André Gide] had several sexual encounters with young boys abroad.
>Wilde took a key out of his pocket and showed me into a tiny apartment of two rooms… The youths followed him, each of them wrapped in a burnous that hid his face. Then the guide left us and Wilde sent me into the further room with little Mohammed and shut himself up in the other with the [other boy]. Every time since then that I have sought after pleasure, it is the memory of that night I have pursued. […] My joy was unbounded, and I cannot imagine it greater, even if love had been added.
>How should there have been any question of love? How should I have allowed desire to dispose of my heart? No scruple clouded my pleasure and no remorse followed it. But what name then am I to give the rapture I felt as I clasped in my naked arms that perfect little body, so wild, so ardent, so sombrely lascivious? For a long time after Mohammed had left me, I remained in a state of passionate jubilation, and though I had already achieved pleasure five times with him, I renewed my ecstasy again and again, and when I got back to my room in the hotel, I prolonged its echoes until morning.
