Quick question: is there a website out there that allows me to make bullshit "scholarly" articles that I can cite myself in my paper. Not that I would do it (the professor might actually read it), but it would be pretty funny to use.

just tried this, and it said:

Dialectic neoconceptualist theory in the works of Burroughs, by Martin W. N. Sargeant

Department of Sociolinguistics, Carnegie-Mellon University

1. Capitalist sublimation and precultural capitalism

“Society is elitist,” says Foucault. Therefore, the primary theme of the works of Burroughs is the stasis, and subsequent economy, of dialectic reality. An abundance of discourses concerning the role of the writer as participant exist.

The characteristic theme of Reicher’s[1] model of dialectic neoconceptualist theory is the bridge between class and sexual identity. But the subject is interpolated into a precultural capitalism that includes language as a totality. In Nova Express, Burroughs reiterates dialectic neoconceptualist theory; in The Last Words of Dutch Schultz, although, he affirms Batailleist `powerful communication’.

jesus christ, what a load of shit.

Ligotti, Cioran, Becker etc all seem to think if you see life 'as it is' that it's a debilitatingly terrifying nightmare.

Buddha seems to think if you see life without 'as it is' without illusion that it is some enlightened, suffering free state.

How can this difference be so huge and who is right?

normies think that life = desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects

it turns out that if you want to be happy, you cannot rely on desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects, because those stuff are not'' permanent'', meaning ''everything naturally turns to shit, when it comes to desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects''

like you are always :
-dissatisfied to experience something not pleasing
-dissatisfied to lose a pleasing experience

it is not your fault that desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects always fade. it is not even their fault . It is just the nature of anything you experience to disappear (or to cease to be what you fantasized about them).

so once you want to be happy, you naturally understand that you better not take seriously the desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects

so how do you stop caring about all these desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects??

normies call this stop ''letting go''

well you do not ''let go'' by willing to let go (perhaps a bit at first, when you begin to meditate, because you think mediating is hard, so you must apply yourself)

you let go by understanding that desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects is not permanent, not you [because you cannot control them] [like if you like apples, you cannot stop liking apples by will, by doing something about you, you cannot effectively[=with yields 1] control other people, you cannot effectively[=with yields 1] control nature], and makes you unhappy if you care about them.

once you understand that desires+opinions+thoughts+consciousness+bodies/material objects will make you unhappy if you cling to them, you are automatically dispassionate towards them and you are happy

it turns out that the more you understand this, you cut first the ties with normie life, then the more you go deep in jhanas, then you reach nibanna.

for people who do not see that normie life is just shit,
-they either do not want really to be happy, so they just bear their cross, and claim that ''the world would be better if people would be smarter (like rationalists), nicer [like low level hippies, moms]''
-or the few you want to go beyond whining, they need ''faith int he buddha'' and practice mediation to first get pleasure/piti, which make them concentrated (because when you are pleased, your mind is not scattered like the mind of normies).

then you need ''right view'', which is just asking ''what does it take, without compromise, the most sincerely possible, to stop being dissatisfied with what I experience (experience which always turns to shit (due to me (when I interact IRL with people, animals, material objects), other people [who betray you, who do not care about you, who love you, who control you], the change of all the objects that I experience), plus the lack of control on my side)?''

and seeing that the ''four noble truths'' is the answer.

>"There remains only consciousness: pure & bright. What does one cognize with that consciousness? One cognizes 'pleasure.' One cognizes 'pain.' One cognizes 'neither pleasure nor pain.' In dependence on a sensory contact that is to be felt as pleasure, there arises a feeling of pleasure. When sensing a feeling of pleasure, one discerns that 'I am sensing a feeling of pleasure.' One discerns that 'With the cessation of that very sensory contact that is to be felt as pleasure, the concomitant feeling — the feeling of pleasure that has arisen in dependence on the sensory contact that is to be felt as pleasure — ceases, is stilled.' In dependence on a sensory contact that is to be felt as pain... >"There remains only equanimity: pure & bright, pliant, malleable, & luminous. Just as if a skilled goldsmith or goldsmith's apprentice were to prepare a furnace, heat up a crucible, and, taking gold with a pair of tongs, place it in the crucible: He would blow on it time & again, sprinkle water on it time & again, examine it time & again, so that the gold would become refined, well-refined, thoroughly refined, flawless, free from dross, pliant, malleable, & luminous. Then whatever sort of ornament he had in mind — whether a belt, an earring, a necklace, or a gold chain — it would serve his purpose. In the same way, there remains only equanimity: pure & bright, pliant, malleable, & luminous. One discerns that 'If I were to direct equanimity as pure & bright as this toward the dimension of the infinitude of space, I would develop the mind along those lines, and thus this equanimity of mine — thus supported, thus sustained — would last for a long time. One discerns that 'If I were to direct equanimity as pure and bright as this toward the dimension of the infinitude of consciousness... the dimension of nothingness... the dimension of neither perception nor non-perception, I would develop the mind along those lines, and thus this equanimity of mine — thus supported, thus sustained — would last for a long time.'

Hello, everyone.

I wanted to share a little success of mine. I was asked to write a sketch for my high schools’ revue. Seeing as I had not written anything for the past 8-10 years, mainly due to a huge writer’s block and self-loathing, this was a huge task for me. Really, I had no idea where to start, and all I wanted to do was crawl down into a hole, and never come up again.

It would probably have stayed that way, were it not a person very dear to me. My girlfriend encouraged me to sit down and write, despite what I would think about it. She proposed that I could write something while we were visiting her mother. We got down there, and I began to slowly pick up my courage to write my ideas down. I was nervous as all hell, but she supported me to keep going. She sat next to me most of the time, and asked into everything I wrote. I was more than happy to tell her everything, since she wanted to hear, and it was nice to put some words out into the wild. And then it began: I was on fire.

For the next four hours, I blasted out ten pages worth of screenplay. I don’t know if this is much, but this meant the world to me. The story was a comedy, and ended up being about a mad scientist, that cannot perform his experiments on an intern, because of budgetary constraints. In one sitting, I made everything into words, just like that. The story was already in my head, but now, it was right in front of me. This was tangible.

The show will air tomorrow. I don’t know if people will like it or not, and I am a little nervous. From what I understand, those who have read it, thinks it’s good, but you never know. My girlfriend took a video of one of the test runs, because I couldn’t be there to see it. I don’t know if people will like it. maybe they will laugh, or maybe, they will hate it. All I know is, that I saw something on stage, that I had created. This would not have existed, had I not written it.

It will not be seen by many, but I don’t care. I am so fucking proud of myself, that I have found my lust and will to write again. When writer’s thanks someone on the first page of the book, I now know why. I am so thankful to have her in my life right now. But she is not the only one to thank for this.

This might seem a tad sentimental, but I really wanted to share this with you guys. This board helped me spark my interest to write and read again. I would have never considered breaking out of my shell, had it not been for this board.

Thanks, you guys.
If you have some success of your own, share with the rest of us. This could be fun.

"Hurry," Hermione cried, holding open the portrait of the Fat Lady.

Ron, his cheeks bulging with half-chewed toast, shoved on his shoes and ran over to the portrait.

"Uhh, just a minute," shouted Harry from the male dormitory.

"Really Harry, we're going to be late!" Hermione complained, tapping her foot against the flagstone.

"I wonder what the bloody hell he's up to," said Ron. "I haven't seen him since he snuck in late last night!"

Suddenly a figure appeared on the stone steps leading down from the dormitory, and both Ron and Hermione noticed who it was.

"Ginny!" they both cried. Ginny blushed violently and bit her lips before moving slowly down the stairwell. Behind her Harry appeared in the midst of buckling up his trousers.

"Oh gosh, you two!" Hermione exclaimed.

"Harry, that's my bleeding sister!" Ron angrily bellowed.

"Sorry," Harry attempted. "It's just, well, I've learned this new spell. The one Hermione used to make her quill a little longer. And well-"

"That really is quite enough Harry," Hermione interrupted.

Ron stood aghast, mushy bread falling from his mouth.

It was time for a duel.

Anybody else here reading Harry Potter this Christmas?

I can't wait. Just to take a long bath or shower and then put on my pyjamas and bathrobe and find a nice quiet and comfortable place to sit, preferably dim lighting and with hard rain falling outside.

I can't wait to discover about the wizarding world andshop at Diagon Alley and board the Hogwarts Express and make friends with Ron and Hermione and solve the puzzle of the Philosophers Stone and return to Privet Drive and get my own back on Dudley and meet Dobby and drive with Ron in the flying Ford Anglia back to Hogwarts and learn about the Chamber of Secrets and defeat Malfoy and laugh at Gidleroy Lockhart and rescue Ginny from Tom Riddle and leaving the Weasleys at King's Cross and board the Knight Bus and return to Gryffindor Tower and find out about Sirius Black and sneak off to the Shrieking Shack and battle Snape and find out that Sirius is on my side and attend the Quidditch World Cup with the Weasleys and compete in the tri-wizard tournament and visit Hogsmeade and kiss Cho Chang and fly on the Firebolt broomstick and... my god there's just so much.

How could one person create such a detailed and extensive world and have it also exist parallel to our own.

It's such a feat, almost super-human.

And to think most of these books were written in under 2 years.

Phenomenal.

Exemplary.

How can one be an egoist in modern western (let's say American) society? Clearly it would be against my best interest to break laws, because as arbitrary as they are, the jail they would put me in is not a spook. On the other hand, I don't just want to continue doing exactly as I do now and just tell myself "it is in my best interest to stay in line," like a submissive child.

What is there to be done? Even if you completely disagree with egoism, how would you imagine it being utilized in American society by an individual?

Everything regarding ethics is dependent on cultural development and relative. This is fucking self evident.

Knowledge is socially constructed. Science is the most reliable way to build a body of knowledge, but it can't work for all human experience (art, morals, religion)
