I think Witold Gombrowicz is a genius, reading his work has been a delight. Can anybody here on /lit/ recommend me authors I would enjoy based on that?
Thanks!
Mesa Selimovic
Ranko Marinkovic
Paul Leppin
Borislav Pekic
Hermann Ungar
Bruno Schulze
Jaroslav Hasek
Franz Kafka
Vaginee Peepeenis

Thank you
Honedtly, what do people see in this guy. "Ferdydurke" was alright but the rest of his work was nothing special.
What does /lit/ think of this?
Would be better if it weren't post modernist garbage.

Nah, it's a fun book, has a pretty strong narrative thread throughout, although the narrator is somewhat unreliable.
ITT: books you thought were overrated memes, but you realised are as good or better than they're regarded.
based Fyo-fyo "Life Changer" Dosto claims yet another man
have you read his other works?
Read The Dream of A Ridiculous Man

Notes from Underground and Crime and Punishment.
I was lucky enough to read them in Russian (my grandparents emigrated during the Revolution and I was raised speaking Russian) and they are divine.
Though he isn't as good as Gogol/Pushkin, also Master and Margerita is better than any of his works (though Bulgakov on the whole is not a better author).
However the greatest Russian writer is, in my opinion, Chekhov.

I write "just" too much. Like: Just do x, they just do this, this is just that.
How can I avoid doing that? It feels like it makes my writing seem repetitive and boring.
>>8974551
be cognizant of this aspect of your writing, and edit.
>>8974571
sorry, i meant to ask what other ways you could express yourself without "just"
in the way that you could say "in the way" instead of like
Nothing wrong with repetition it it fits the voice or tone. Don't fall for the thesaurus meme. Reading something natural is more aesthetic than something forced

Any one else have an addiction to the internet on the phone/desktop
>What does this have to do with books?
Only a few years ago I could destroy a novella/medium sized book a week.
>tfw you build an expensive gaming rig to play games with friends and you read bullshit online instead.
I feel like the internet has reduced my long term attention span.
Trying to read Middlemarch at the moment and its made me profoundly depressed. Loving the book. It's beautifully put together but the phone is too easy a temptation...
I'm similar but I don't even like a lot of books. I just feel an obligation to read because I'm worried ill be called a pleb otherwise
Get some self control, OP. Jesus christ.

Man I know, its kinda frightening me...I've this unstoppable urge for worthless information. Like I have this internal block against drinking and drugs but on some level I think the internet is fine.
