What did Voltaire mean by this?
This notion assumes that all rulers are sensitive to criticism.

I finally got one of these kindle gadgets, but not having much luck finding lending-links for books since library genesis is banned by my isp.
Where do you fellas get your stuff?
Just get a proxy desu
I'm kinda in the same boat
my kindle thingy is due to arrive the day after tomorrow and and even though I already have like fifteen books lined up for it I wonder where do I get new stuff.
Should I just get a what.cd account or whatever it's called now? Bibliotik is within my reach but just too much of a bother to maintain
Amazon has a lot of older classics and public-domain stuff for free if you look long enough. They're not fancy, but it's less shelf space taken up by them.
Has anyone read pic related? I like the excerpts that I've listened to on youtube.
How's her body?
it's amazing. she says she's influenced by Beckett and Abe, but it's original
I've never in my life wanted to marry someone more
>purchase textbook online
>pocket/softback version is $28
>hardback is $78
It's such a fucking pain to prefer hardbacks.
Seventy-fucking-eight dollars for a book kill me now.

Just don't buy it, man.
Problem solved.

But I want it.
But I'm also poor.
Just read the e-book man, the words are important not the fucking hard cover.
How many ECs do you think a single person can fit into a single year? I've had two already since January 1st and I can feel another one coming on already. My record is four (2012) but I think this year I'm going to try and beat it. Is there a maximum to the number of ECs you can have either in one year or over the course of an entire lifetime?
Relevant book recommendations appreciated as always.

Yeah reading a book once in your life won't do much to your brain thats why you read more

I want to start reading Fantasy Books but I can't decide where to begin.
I've seen two books that attract me: The Name Of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss) and Neverwinter (A collection by RA Salvatore)
I'm open to suggestions

Start and end with Gene Wolfe
Who cares? It's just genre crap. Read whatever looks interesting to you.

Thanks for the helpful reply
I find myself purchasing a lot of books, and starting on one and reading several chapters or so. Then I won't read it for ages, and lose track of what happened, so I start on a new book or start again.
How do I remain consistent with reading and keeping up with what's happening?

How about not being an autistic faggot?
Has that never occurred to you before? It wouldn't surprise me since your mother was a whore and your father was a charlatan.
I realize that since I am an intellectual and you are just a part of the lower plebeian class, you may have difficulties understanding my superior technique in regards to the writing and understanding of the literature I consume daily. Don't expect to get on my level any time soon, I was reading Gravity's Rainbow and Infinite Jest before you even came out of your father's sack. Good luck reading those novels without their companion guides like I did. You would probably be too stupid to understand the plot without it.
I've already wasted too much of my valuable reading time responding to this infantile post. You are a faggot OP.

Read on a schedule, and only stick to 1 or 2 books at a time.

Is it bad taste for me to like Titus more than Othello? I find Titus so much more intriguing; the way the state is shown as so fundamentally negative combined with the distorted treatment of classical literature make it so much more interesting to me than Othello.
I even like 12th Night more because I like Feste better than Iago.
Is Othello just overrated or am I missing something here?
Othello is overrated, and Aaron is a much better villain than Iago.
The writing and verse is more mature and free in Othello. More use of enjambment and other devices to make it read smoother.
Also the characters/plot are more human and realistic in Othello.
Taste is subjective, so if you like end stopped rhymed lines that's fine.
Lots of people like Titus andronicus because it is violent and bloody.
Personally it's one of my least favorite plays and my least favorite tragedy.
>>9104739
I enjoyed Titus Andronicus a lot too, OP. Not yet read Othello but I plan on doing so by the end of this year, along with The Tempest.
These books make no sense. It feels like eating cotton candy that you think you ate something but it is just air that disintigrates in your mouth
Yes, that is a perfect description for reading translations.

Want to read and be /lit/ but I really hate reading. I can't read more than 3 paragraphs before I get bored. I even get sleepy in the middle of the day if I try to read.
What do?
Try audiobooks?
