What do you think our friends on /pol/ means by 'Hegelian dialectic'? I am genuinely dumbfounded.

http://archive.4plebs.org/pol/search/text/hegelian%20dialectic/

Examples:
>I should probably just make a pasta about this at this point, Athism is a mix of marxism, nihilism, and Christianity and all bundled into one core idealogy which focuses its worship around the concept of the Hegelian Dialectic and solipsism, in which solipsism is selectively used to deny certain syllogisms and observable phenomena in the environment. Most athiest are Christians at heart, they have the same moral structures, beliefs, and carry themselves in the manner of heretical but still highly obvious Christians. lrn2 ontology
>He who controls the Hegelian dialectic controls the world.
>They are using global warming/climate change as a way to further their globalist agenda to establish a single planetary government. Remember: Global 'problems' require global 'solutions'. This is the Hegelian dialectic on a global scale. Not only do they want a single planetary government, but they also want to DE-INDUSTRIALISE THE WORLD via their global warming/climate change SCAM. Don't fall for it
>Neocohens aren't a new phenomenon. You're just waking up. Jews hve been playing the Hegelian dialectic forever.
>Bear in mind that the Hegelian Dialectic is another old and consistently effective page from the playbook. This same Chicago crowd also practices the "Responsibility to Protect" doctrine; after sufficient chaos is created, then there is moral justification for militaristic forces to come in and stomp out the chaos in order to restore order: the new world order.
>I'd just point out that the most ''''conoservative'''' jews I know also happen to be the most neocon--Ben Shapiro and Sam Harris, for instance are super zionists in their own ways. Compare them to the ''''liberals'''' like Chomsky whose job it appears to be to break down other western societies in a Hegelian dialectic--good cop, bad cop tandem as you say

This is just the first page.
Are they essentially right? Was Hegel really a Jewish invention? What is this nonsense all about?

(this isn't bait, I genuinely want to know what they mean. If you're one of the frogmen from there, please explain)

you are the problem with /lit/

"any arguments against post-modernism?"
"what are some arguments about feminism?"

holderlin and schelling both dismantled german idealism in the mid 1800s, why don't you fucking read them instead? are you actually that familiar with the project of german idealism or just want to shit on it before you even know the basics? fuck off
>>
>>9100745
Why are you so angry? I was asking what to read so you actually kinda answered my question in your sperg out. I wasn't looking for someone to actally present any arguments here.

I am kinda familiar with it, having mostly read secondary literature on Kant and Schopenhauer (And Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung). Jesus, don't get so defensive without any reason.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-incurred immaturity.
Immaturity is the inability to use one's own understanding without the guidance of another. This immaturity is self-incurred if its cause is not lack of understanding, but lack of resolution and courage to use it without the guidance of another. The motto of enlightenment is therefore: Sapere aude! Have courage to use your own understanding!

Laziness and cowardice are the reasons why such a large proportion of men, even when nature has long emancipated them from alien guidance (naturaliter maiorennes), nevertheless gladly remain immature for life. For the same reasons, it is all too easy for others to set themselves up as their guardians. It is so convenient to be immature! If I have a book to have understanding in place of me, a spiritual adviser to have a conscience for me, a doctor to judge my diet for me, and so on, I need not make any efforts at all. I need not think, so long as I can pay; others will soon enough take the tiresome job over for me. The guardians who have kindly taken upon themselves the work of supervision will soon see to it that by far the largest part of mankind (including the entire fair sex) should consider the step forward to maturity not only as difficult but also as highly dangerous. Having first infatuated their domesticated animals, and carefully prevented the docile creatures from daring to take a single step without the leading-strings to which they are tied, they next show them the danger which threatens them if they try to walk unaided. Now this danger is not in fact so very great, for they would certainly learn to walk ventually after a few falls. But an example of this kind is intimidating, and usually frightens them off from further attempts. (...)

Thus it is difficult for each separate individual to work his way out of the immaturity which has become almost second nature to him. He has even grown fond of it and is really incapable for the time being of using his own understanding, because he was never allowed to make the attempt. Dogmas and formulas, those mechanical instruments for rational use (or rather misuse) of his natural endowments, are the ball and chain of his permanent immaturity. And if anyone did throw them off, he would still be uncertain about jumping over even the narrowest of trenches, for he would be unaccustomed to free movement of this kind. Thus only a few, by cultivating their own minds, have succeeded in freeing themselves from immaturity and in continuing boldly on their way.
There is more chance of an entire public enlightening itself. This is indeed almost inevitable, if only the public concerned is left in freedom. For there will always be a few who think for themselves, even among those appointed as guardians of the common mass. Such guardians, once they have themselves thrown off the yoke of immaturity, will disseminate the spirit of rational respect for personal value and for the duty of all men to think for themselves. The remarkable thing about this is that if the public, which was previously put under this yoke by the guardians, is suitably stirred up by some of the latter who are incapable of enlightenment, it may subsequently compel the guardians themselves to remain under the yoke. For it is very harmful to propagate prejudices, because they finally avenge themselves on the very people who first encouraged them (or whose predecessors did so). Thus a public can only achieve enlightenment slowly. A revolution may well put an end to autocratic despotism and to rapacious or power-seeking oppression, but it will never produce a true reform in ways of thinking. Instead, new prejudices, like the ones they replaced, will serve as a leash to control the great unthinking mass.

hey lit. I dont come here often but this seems to be the board with the most intelligent people, so please help me. I feel like my parents are wasting their lives. My dad wakes up, goes to work, comes home and sits on the couch on his phone for most of the rest of the day, while my mom stays home and takes care of the house. They don't argue but they just seem like they don't care about eachother but they say they do. When my mom isn't occupying herself with a project decorating our home (like buying a bathtub that we don't need) she is on her phone or watching shitty tv shows, like the real housewives or the kardashians, or one of the home makeover shows. At least 1-2 hours a day is spent watching these, which i feel is such a waste of time, especially considering that whenever i ask a real question which is meant to initiate an actual thought provoking conversation the answer is ALWAYS, yes, no, maybe, or i dont know, unless its about how trump is so awful. My dad isn't bad though, he's just getting old. He takes us a lot of places and to a lot of concerts, he reads some good books (like pic related) and listens to some good music but he just seems so unsatisfied with the way that he's living, while my mom listens to shit like adele, and norah jones and other adult contemporary and reads self help books like "the life changing magic of tidying up." how can someone spend their life like this? I want them to change because i feel like they are wasting years of their life when they could be doing things with my little brother, who is going to have horrible anxiety when he's older. So what i want to know is, Do you think i should tell them how i feel? What i want to ask them is "are you happy?" which i know they'll initially say yes but im hoping that they will actually take the time to think about it and realize that they need to change. How do you think is should approach them? And also what are some good books that you can suggest for a beginner?-Yes i know the grammar in this is awful and yes i know this is cringe and yes i am in highschool but please give actual advice

don't try to force change in your parents. They won't change. It's too long they've been set in their ways. Just let them be.

Deciding what book to start reading with is a matter of what you are interested in.

Anyone know how much logic I should know before reading pic related? Also, if you could give book recs for introductory logic books, they would be much appreciated

Start with the Philosophical Investigations first. Use Baker & Hacker's commentary. Go back and read the Tractatus later, once you have a solid understanding of the PI and some secondary literature on Wittgenstein. It's nearly impossible to interpret in any meaningful way except in the context of a wider view of his career and intellectual development.

You don't need much or any logic at all to go from the PI or even to read the Tractatus later. No need to learn formal logic for it. Or at all, really.

first order logic helps.
>>
>>9102923
You don't *need* to know any logic prior, in the sense that you can understand it without prior research. It's not that hard to understand. That being said, some Frege might help.

Are women inferior writers? Does the gender of the author influence your decision to read a book?
