Is there a more cucked philosophy than Stoicism? Reading this made me cringe

Religion is the only way to overcome the inherent suffering that comes with existence.

The 'inherent suffering' actually comes from specific forms of society and is in no way existential.

Do you use "The Method of Loci" or "Memory Palace" to remember key points of the book?
45 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>9106631
No, because I feel I'm likely incapable of it due to a terrible memory coupled with laziness/perception of inadequacy. I am very envious of anyone who is actually able to do so.

I take notes, and maintain an impressionistic view of events while reading. It works wonderfully for most novels, anything from the Quixote to 2666, although for the latter, "plot points" are less important than thematic reflections based on the overview of the novel and whichever part you are in (like a good deal of modern novels).

What are some writers that liked video games? I afraid that spending all those formative years at playing video games means death sentence for me: i will never be a writer. I still like some video games, despite my literary interests

We did. I was making the design of it. It was mostly ready and then we started taking submissions.

We received like three excerpts. One was something about how blacks are inferior. One was mildly bad poetry. One was just retarded /r9k/-tier shitposting.
>>
There have already been several attempts and they all fizzled out fairly quickly. One was around for a while but it's been ages since I've seen any mention of it. I don't even remember what it was called.

Comfy neighbourhood bookstore thread? Comfy neighbourhood bookstore thread.

I work at an antique bookstore, it's pretty comfy.
It's in an old wooden house and the whole place is just crammed full of books. They spill out of shelves, lie in piles on every available surface and form 3 feet high walls around isolated workstations practically buried in the sea of them. There's a narrow path that cuts through the store (which is 3 stories) and anytime you meet someone going the other way someone has to back up or you're gonna knock a whole pile over. Even the bathroom is crammed full of them.

It's pretty great, but I don't get much of a chance to read there since it's usually pretty busy.

Okay, /lit/izens. Here's the deal. I'll post a word. It could be a noun, an adjective, a verb, a bumblebee; it could be anything that I happen to be thinking of at any particular moment; and I want you to write a poem based around it.

After I come back from work, I'll come up with a new word, AND FROM THERE ON OUT, YOU CANNOT POST YOUR POEM REVOLVING AROUND THE OLD WORD. That is the only time limit.

I'll be checking in every now and then; posting on poems that I want to talk about, and obviously, you guys are free to r8/h8 along with me. Okay?

The current word is "Deal"

I have no deal for my own soul
I could not sell or let it go
No good deal for price of I
I clutch my soul until I die

If I sold myself to thee
Wouldst I be a man to me
No deal for you, mine soul be tried
I take my soul to after-life

In my will, herein I've wrote
"Tender senpai, respect thy note
Have my shoes and take my fees
But leave my soul beside the keys

Sell my stocks and break my bonds
My list of things go on and on
But on the line within page 3
Leave my blessed soul to me

Signed and written, truly loved
I leave my assets in your trust
With the soul I plan to keep
From up above, we will remeet."

>claims to be a marxist communist
>hardly talks about communism or how it could be implemented in modern western society
Does this bother anyone else about modern "marxists"? Ive been reading a lot of marxist philosophy lately, and it does a fantastic job detailing the problems with capitalism and why a socialist based economy would be more ethical. However, I cant find any serious modern marxists who describe how to replace capitalism in, lets say, America. How could you develop a communist society in a place with 350,000,000 people? Even if you broke America up into smaller nations, that would require us to dissolve our military and basically we'd be conqured in a day for our resources.

I'm not a Marxist or a Communist myself but you are correct.

He seems to have accepted the cultural hegemony and only critiques Capitalism (although very well) without offering viable solutions.

Serious revolutionaries are ostracised as tankies.

Peaceful incremental reformers and demsocs are ostracised as compromising classcucks.

Modern socialism is in a dire position and has perhaps never been more irrelevant than it is now, especially now that many of its more popular and catchy ideas (welfare, social justice) have been adopted in some form by most mainstream parties.

>Used to love Science Fiction

>Haven't read any in a little over a year, been reading older fiction or historical books

>Want to read a new sci-fi book but nothing looks good/interesting

Is there anything out there that might rekindle my love of the genre, or is this the end?

Last sci-fi series I read was Asimov's Foundation books, they were "meh" at best.
