Hey, 2hu I know I'm kinda dense but I didn't realize until just now that you are the Unlimited Patch Works guy.

I actually wanted to send you some promotional stuff. I already sent WGW a package.

Good thing I didn't get to ship your commission yet. I'm going to throw in the stuff I wanted to send.

Also Skinwalker, you should do a commission too so I can send you a care package as well.

Just starting up the middle east general since it looked like the last thread died without anyone starting a new one.

Just a few bulletins tonight.

Damascus- Fighting in the Qudsiyah suburb of the Syrian capital has reached a fevered pitch not seen in a long time as Jabhat Fateh Al-Sham and FSA rebels attacked an SAA checkpoint, specifically in the Al-Khayateen area. SAA units were taken by surprise and at least six soldiers were killed before the SAA could respond to the attack. SAA promptly sent the republican guard, who were able to recapture Al-Khayateen.

Yemen- reports are coming in that Saudi fighters accidentally bombed their own forces. The incident is said to have taken place in the Jizan Region of Saudi Arabia. These reports first came from the Yemeni Republican guard, so there is a chance that this info is fabricated (but then again that shouldn't come as a surprise).

'well, not quite yet, we can't really roll in the reinforcements before we know the enemy are here for certain' Helen smirks

"well, you seem well informed, anything you want to share?"

'dammit now we are on the whole one thing leads to another again. no, but i'll keep you up to date'

"alright. At any rate, the sun is peeking over the horizon, i'll bet someone is going to notice"

'wait'

As Helen said that, everyone save you, Lily and Natalya stood up, and started walking over to you. Within 10 seconds, what you saw in front of you looked somewhat the making for a 90s rap album cover, but instead of black men with gold chains and Hi-points, it were young women and girls, wearing tank tops, milsurp and hoodies

'we really trust you're not telling anyone'

"seriously, i've not told anyone before, and it wont change now"

The group splits up, and return to their respective vehicles and pretend to sleep for ten minutes before getting up. As soon as you get alone with Lily, you start to address you concern

"is that really it that they can't kill me? because it sounds like bullshit to me. I mean what's going to stop them? loosing one man? they wont care about that. I don't trust that Helen one bit

>they say they couldn't because that would mean killing an ally, since we are on the same side of the fight. Despite my name

"yeah, Nibelung. whats up with that? they seemed... not happy when you told them"

>ah, yes. I'll explain that to you aswell

Cranky Centenarian Edition

> What's this thread about?
As usual this thread is for the discussion and pics of tracked and wheeled AFVs of all kinds from MBTs to supertanks to self propelled AA guns. Please keep it civil and cite sources for statistics.

For such a diminutive tank, the Renault Ft had a certainly outsize impact. The most produced tank of the Great War was the brainchild of General Jean-Baptiste Estienne, France’s chief advocate of all things armour in the war. After the bitter disappointment of the Schneider CA 1, Estienne desired a reliable and resource conservative answer to France’s continuing lack of success with armour. A chance meeting with Louis Renault himself led to the formulation of plans for the “char mitrailleur”, or “machinegun vehicle”. A wooden mockup quickly emerged by October 1916, which was shown to General Joffre in defiance of the disapproving Director of Motor Services, General Mourret. Joffre, being a longtime friend of Estienne, agreed to order 1000. In December, a refined model was shown to the Committee on Assault Artillery, and an initial batch was approved with seven votes to three. By January 1917, the first vehicle was complete, and even though Joffre had been sacked following Verdun, his successor Robert Nivelle was convinced by the Committee as to the efficacy of the new vehicle; provisions were even made for a 37 mm infantry gun to be installed. Production surged ahead, with Renault waiving patents to extend the design to other factories in France, and also Italy and the US. Until the end of the war, however, faulty fan belts and fuel filters proved to be crippling and insurmountable problems. Over 7000 tanks, however, were ordered from French factories alone, and by the end of 1918, there existed 21 Franco-American light tank battalions.

OP: As always, feedback, suggestions wanted and appreciated.
In honour of the centenary of the tank which occurred last week on September 15, I’ve decided to examine one of the most revolutionary designs to emerge out of the battlefields of the Great War, pioneering the rotating turret.
Considering the pace of tank development from WWII onwards, the Renault’s longevity and versatility is incredible to consider today, seeing a great plurality of users, including the United States, United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, China, and Canada,
The first instance of combat with the Renault occurred during the Spring Offensive in 1918, as the great German attack nearly reached the large French tank depot at Champlieu. The tanks, some without even having their 37 mm armament delivered yet, were hurried into action, with the 50th Regiment haphazardly reassembled with 200 tanks after having abandoned Champlieu. The continual trend of the July days was individual effectiveness negated by being spread too thin. The comparative inexperience of French troops in comparison to the British in infantry and tank cooperation also impacted their effectiveness. Concerningly, the tank wore out too quickly, as a tank would require an overhaul after only a few hundred hours of usage, making training a hypothetical affair as the armour was hoarded for combat purposes. The Germans also began to make liberal use of grenades, AT rifles and buttoning tactics, as they fired at vision slits and weak spots– often it was not the 22 mm of frontal steel that was penetrated, but the spalling that killed the crew. However, Petain’s thought that the tank was the “glue” that held the Poilus together was vindicated by the Renault’s combat experience.
There’s a lot to be said about the Renault in foreign service, but that’s likely a story for another time.

More tank news, as per the new format.
If you have more queries regarding a news story, just point it out, and I’ll further elaborate and provide links.

Oshkosh Defense is projected to complete the first production Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) this month, after much anticipation and teasing at various Army and Marine exhibitions, potentially amounting to $30 billion USD over its lifespan according to the company director.
Poland has launched a tender to acquire battlefield management systems for its fleet of 8x8 Rosomak AMVs, but only for state run firms. Around 4000 platforms are expected to be installed with the new prospective BMS, with 310 of these being the Rosomaks.
In related news, PGZ’s Rosomak division at MSPO 2016 has displayed specialised ISTAR variants of the Rosomak APC. The R-1 Woz Dowodczo-Rozpoznawczy (WDR - reconnaissance command vehicle) and R-2 Woz Rozpoznawczy (WR) - reconnaissance vehicle) are based on an upgraded Rosomak 8x8 chassis featuring a light modular passive protection system and Leonardo Janus RSTA sensor suite.
Kurganmashzavod at Russia’s Army 2016 show has unveiled an upgraded version of its BMP-3 Dragun IFV, with improved armour. The vehicle allegedly sports composite side skirts and an upgraded electro-optical suite, and is expected to undergo state trials in 2017.
Russia is also purchasing substantial numbers of 6S21 RCWS developed by TsNII Burevestnik, able to accommodate machineguns and automatic grenade launchers. In addition to integration with advanced systems such as the Kurganets-25 and Bumerang, it is also expected to become an organic component of Russian AFVs.
Following on from Lithuania’s purchase of Boxer AFVs, it has also been revealed that an evaluation for alternative turrets has been accepted, and the Israeli firm Rafael’s Samson 30 mm Mk II RWS has been contracted. In addition, Lithuania will operate Spike LR missiles in conjunction.

And that’s all for now.

Guns ammo, enough food and supplies for 3 days of camping. A couple of light jackets, sweaters, windbreakers are a good idea as the yearly average is around mid-50s during the day in November.

I'm planning to cook dinner Friday and Saturday night, though I still encourage everyone to bring enough food and water for themselves.

Destroying weapons parts and small arms that aren't automatic or DDs that can be sold off via CMP. Stuff like old M68s, STANAGs,M9 mags, pistols, revolvers, sniper rifles, M16/M4 parts, M14 surplus barrels are destroyed with mallets or melted down at DRMO or given away to arab nations rather than resold to recoup costs. Total waste.
