So I finished reading about the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth and the Russian Empire. Both of these empires had me hooked to my seat for hours. I've never been that much into history before. Which part of Eastern Europe should I-

"Public History Internship" - basically working in a museum or library for a year

I'm convinced that French colonizing ventures, whether they be in America, Africa, Oceania or Asia, were at the very least partially fueled by the power of the dick. When you go look into primary accounts, it seems like every single colonist had at least a few native mistresses, with some just outright taking a native wife. Even official texts acknowledge and low key use it as a promoting factor.

There's Saint-Domingue, which was a whole mixed society in itself. Started with French masters and slave women, but then their children were sometimes free and even educated in Europe, and they did very well for themselves despite being looked down upon by the white French and vehemently hated by the Blacks. So when a Frenchman arrived on the island, he would very often take a Creole mixed wife, or rather the Creole would take him: it was always a mutually beneficial relationship, with the Frenchman being introduced and eased into colonial society, and for the wife it was symbol of status, and a way for their children to move up in society. In New France, with it's low population, taking a native wife was more or less accepted, creating a whole Metis ethnicity.

And then of course there was tons of erotica produced featuring Black, mixed, Asian, Arab, Native or Polynesian women.

I'm doing genealogical research and I found an old Austro Hungarian document talking about casualties in WWI and it has this for one of my ancestors "War kriegsgef. Im Austauschwege zurückgekehrt." can somebody help me figure out what it means I can't find it online anywhere

Is the "Germany orchestrated the Bolshevik revolution" theory a complete meme? I searched as much as I could but literally the only thing I could find was the fact Germany granted Lenin a safe passage by train to Russia, which is nowhere near the actual theory.
