I am reading through the Peloponnesian War and I need some clarification, It's been on my mind for a while, but during the start of the book before the war breaks out when it's detailing the actions of the Athenians and their colonies, it said one of the grievances against Athens was they would take on a colony or support a colony and then fight their wars, thus depriving the colony of the very valuable experience of warfare so if they were to revolt in any sort of way they could be cleaned up easily.

Was that a valid and used tactic or did I misunderstand?

Yes and no.
The grievance in question was more about the autonomy of the colony/city, rather than the warfare itself. In essence, the Athenians were being paid by these colonies and cities to fight their wars for them, either that or contribute soldiers/ships to the cause. The other cities of mainland Greece compared this to an empire, and they weren't far off, especially since Athens didn't allow for any members of their league to leave willingly.
While this could be seen as a tactic to make crushing uprisings easier, it mostly had to do with how the Delian League had been effectively transformed into the Athenian Empire.

>The House wanted nothing to do with the idea. James Madison,
then serving as a representative from Virginia, scorned Adams’s
effort.5 ‘‘The more simple, the more republican we are in our manners,’’
Madison told his colleagues, ‘‘the more national dignity we
shall acquire.’’6 When the joint committee recommended against
‘‘annex[ing] any style or title to [those] expressed in the Constitution,’’
the House unanimously adopted the committee’s report.
>Yet, Adams wouldn’t take no for an answer. At his urging, the
Senate appointed a new Title Committee, which on May 9 proposed
that the president be addressed as ‘‘His Highness, the President of
the United States, and Protector of their Liberties.’’7 When the Senate
moved to postpone consideration of the report, Adams launched into
a ‘‘forty minute . . . harangue’’ on the ‘‘absolute necessity’’ of titles.
Was Adams actually autistic?

No he was not acoustic. This was in the aftermath of the articles of confederation failing, and the US still being under threat from Britain. The US being unified would help in making the US more resilient against foreign threat. Affording lofty titles to the president can in fact help raise his prestige and ability to command. Why do you think monarchs throughout history have had high titles and displayed wealth and regalness publicly?
>>
>>3367662
Yes and he sought to remedy the crisis by going into an autistic fit about his lack of title.
Adams was respected by nobody and this interaction with the senate (that was largely federalist even) shows this.
>Why do you think monarchs throughout history have had high titles and displayed wealth and regalness publicly?
Don't think copying monarchs was such a good idea in early U.S., in fact the very thing Adams was proposing was clearly unconstitutional.

I need help /his/.
I may retarded, but for my college history coursework I have picked few different topics, all pretty hard. Now, the coursework has to cover around 100 years, include at least two historians and a primary source. All of these seem fine except the historians. Now that's where I'm asking for you guys for help. Does anyone know any good historians for any of these three topics:

Polish-Russian relation 1900-2000 (or earlier)
Polish Nationalism 1900-2000 (or earlier)
Russian Foreign Policy in Eastern Europe 1900-2000 (or earlier)

Do your homework yourself.
>>
Here are few questions that I came up with, whaddya think?

To what extent could Russian policy towards Poland be regarded as expansionist in the period 1890 to 1990 ?

Why and to what extent did concern with Poland dominate Russian Foreign policy in Eastern Europe during the period 1900 to 1995 ?

What were the social and ideological issues which dominated Russian - Polish relationships throughout the 20th century ?

Why did Russia/Polish relations appear to be so confrontational throughout the twentieth century?
>>
>>3367434
I just got kinda stuck looking for some good historians that cover these issues, thought that someone here may know them.

I remember learning about Fukushima and Huntington back in the first year of my polisci studies.

I knew right from the getgo that this stupid Jap was talking bullshit, and yet he was presented as a valid alternative to my homeboy Sam.

A buddy of mine bought into it, too.
He now regrets being an idiot.

What was it like, living during the Golden Age of Piracy?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.

depends of you were the pirate or not
nothing like the romanticized image of piracy Hollywood threw at the world
p.s you're living the golden age of piracy, we don't even need to leave our homes to commit it
>>

Weirdly enough it was pretty similar to that romanticized Hollywood image. Most pirates tended to be former British sailors who were usually just poorfags forced into service by the press gangs and then mistreated like subhumans by their commanding officers. They were seen as Robin Hood like figures by the common folk even back then when it was happening, which forced the colonial governors to ban any pro-pirate literature. The pirate life was considered so romantic and adventurous that even some rich people like Stede Bonnet started LARPing as pirates. They also had their own """country""" in the Bahamas which functioned as pretty much a proto-anarchist community: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Pirates

When will /his/ take the structural pill and realise that certain personality types have existed throughout history and society should usually seek to construct channels and places for these people by which their positive characteristics benefit society and their negative ones aren't.

In the 18th Century, as many as 1/3 women were prostitutes, this is roughly how many women will fuck random people in nightclubs after a few drinks or after a meal.

"Nu-males" are literally the modern day Eunchs whom were put in positions of trust due to their lack of dynastical instinct.

What other roles can we discuss.

Reminder that the romance languages were 5/5 for fascism (Salazar, Petain, Franco, Mussolini, Antonescu) in the 20th century

Based their entire economy around manufacturing, and when America decided to let other countries do that for them for cheaper, Michigan didn't adapt and became a rust belt shithole. But worry not Anon! Once Donnie T. drains the swamp of globalist bureaucrats, the American auto industry will see a boom like never before and Detroit will be great again!

Like it or not, this is what Romans actually looked like. It's no surprise why people wewuz them with such ferocity. They retain the superior physical attributes of Mediterranean folk (chiseled face, olive skin tone, etc...) while harboring the superior intellect of a ashkenazi semite.
