I know anarchism is a popular ideology among /his/torians, and I'd love to be educated about it. What are the differences between the different sects in layman's terms, and what are the supposed advantages that anarchy would bring?

>I know anarchism is a popular ideology among /his/torians,
Is it? I've found /his/ to be pretty politically moderate (for 4chan at least)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Defense_of_Anarchism
It's more of an exploration of the philosophical implications than having any particular political agenda, which I like about it.
It also actually has good points
>>
>>1389370

Anarchism is a utopian ideology, and like all utopianisms it's chief failing is it's denial of human nature.Anarchists believe that people are born as blank slates, and that they could be raised to be purely unselfish and cooperative with the right kind of education. Sadly, humans /do/ a nature, and it is primarily self-interested. Even if 90% of the population got on board with an Anarchist agenda, the remaining 10% of free riders and psychopaths would quickly drive the system into the ground.

Why do some people just live happy lives with minimal effort?

Are they just plebs?
35 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>1389340
Because that's an illusion. It's not completely happy and it never takes no effort.
>>
The great illusion of depression is that is the process of a rational process rather than base animal instincts.
>>
>>1389340
Dumber people are happier.

What's the value in anything, really.

I mean, this is entirely based upon what you value in life and as we know, everyone has different values and goals.

/bearGod thread/
So much has been going around for kek and qek, its time for a new set of God..I am doing research on a group called 'the inbetween'.. from my own research and speaking with knowledgeable individuals, this group came far before any form of religion, close to the period between stone men, and civilization..

The most interesting thing is how they acted, they would walk around with nothing but white robes on, or naked. Normally they would be naked walking around with nothing but seeds just planting them around, they would travel to far lands and share these seeds with many different people.. the white robes came in handy during war, these people seemed very innocent and naive, offering everything they had for free and even falling voluntarily into traps.. should one of them be harmed, they would all go into war..

the white robes would be worn, no weapons just their bare hands used.. they would beat down, ripe throats out with their teeth, some of the most violent deaths imaginable. they had a warriors code though, no torture, no prisoners, no rape or anything vile outside of combat.. they viewed death as more than an honor, they would laugh when wounded, they would love be outnumbered, and fight their way out..

>>
they are also called 'the originals', the only group to be in constant contact with the creator, they would go around and offer people two different types of gifts, one of power and eternal life, one of a humble life and death.. one choice was the monk's path in life, like them, the other would result in the death of the person.. they were the first culture to successfully reincarnate and recall past lives.. they would be friends with all animals, as they believed all humans had animal spirits, and theirs was the bear, live meager lives, loved honey and foraging, and loving mother earth.. the original prophecies were written about them..

i am having trouble locating any written works other than some 4chan posts and forum works.. one of the names the bear God would go under is the 'faceless' God, outsider, inbetween God.
>>
Supposedly this faceless God went around to the different parts of the world and found a couple torn by love, both thought they were right yet each were wrong. He offered them his gift and they infact ended up killing him together.. He reappeared many times to them, with different appearances, and they used him to conquer the world and create religions and government establishments with his powers. He told them each time he would come to collect, and they would have to love each other and commit suicide together or they would lose each other becoming nothing but mere specs only seeing each other once in a while as they passed each other. Sort of bugs flying by.. They didn't listen, and one controlled the day, while the other the night, each waiting for his return each time he came by.. Who ever could woo him would get his next power.. he kept it even, knowing what they were up to each time.
>>
He wrote and acted as the God in all the major religions, being used to kill his own people and those from around the world. He did this willingly, though being corrupted each time, letting the couple think they were gaining more and more power each time over him. Everytime he gave them an out and let them reset if they would give up every power they had, they did not and kept continuing their ways all the way until the end. He warned them one day he would come back and take everything back, and they would never know about it.

More accounts of him walking around with a lamp, with a special anointment, healing the sick and wounded, never asking for money yet always appearing to those who had faith.. He himself has no religion it seems, just a man walking the earth under many faces.. He was supposedly Odin, Zeus, Jesus Christ, Buddha, and many more prominent figures, as many people claimed they are all the same person..

I'm not a red of any variety but the Internationale still manages to stir me every time. Same with a lot of other labor songs.

Why were lefty songs and propaganda back in the day so good? (Not so much today)

I haven't really seen anything from right-wingers/conservatives of the time that even compares.

>tried to reform the Roman public administration to be more efficient
>promoted the self-sufficiency and autonomy of urban centers, devolving more powers to the local urban governments in order to decrease their reliance on the Imperial government
>dismissed most of his court for being useless, instigated trials and investigations to rid the Imperial bureaucracy of corrupt and incompetent functionaries
>is only remembered for being 'the Apostate' due to Christcucks shitting on his legacy because they disliked that he didn't subscribe to their delusions
>his 'Against the Galilaeans' was destroyed, and even the Church Father Cyril of Alexandria admitted himself that he did not record the real arguments found within because they were too 'weighty' to be ignored

I feel so bad for Emperor Julian. He truly was the last competent Emperor: why isn't the title 'Last of the Romans' ever used to describe him?

>Because he wasn't that great

He was. He clearly had the foresight and clarity of mind that many Emperor - despite their great military feats - never had when it came to domestic matters. Julian didn't simply try to expand the Empire through his wars with the Sassanids: he also attempted to revive the Roman republican spirit by cutting off the dependence of the cities on the Imperial government, trying to make the cities - and the citizens - once more self-reliant and strong. At the time, most cities were fed by subsidized state-dispensed foodstuffs, rather than growing their own food.

He also attempted to cut off unnecessary expenditures from the Imperial budget: dismissing the countless (and useless) courtesans, eunuchs, and honorary title-holders of the court and by weeding out the bureaucracy to make it more efficient.

He was a great man. Not very many Emperors - before or after him - ever showed such a keen interest in the actual governance of their nation that wasn't simply military involvement or throwing money at the problem.

If you'd read Stirner you wouldn't even ask that question.

The only reason you should act "good" is because you want to, because it brings you joy to help others. The only reason you should do "bad" things is the same. Fear of punishment or wishing for some reward (whether it be karma, or favor/disfavor with the gods, social pressures etc) are what Stirner would have called Spooks; Forces (thoughts, morals, institutions) leading, coercing, a person away from his own nature.
>>
>>1388095

continuing this

At first glance this would be seen to promote hedonism (whatever brings you pleasure, sensual or otherwise) but it's not. It calls for great introspection. You have to know yourself fully before you can act upon your nature consciously.

I am looking for podcasts that deal with history primarily, but I also wouldn't mind ones dealing with philosophy and theology.

Some eras I am especially interested in:

Sumer, Assyrians, Babylonians, Khmer, Mycanaen civilizations.

Pre-judaic, pre-christian and pre-islamic religion.

Song, Han and Tong-era China.

The rise and fall of the Ottoman empire.

The Arabian caliphates from ~1000BC onwards.

Middle eastern and arabic geopolitics today.

The formation of the African Nations, the scramble for Africa, the decolonization period.

In here I will be posting some YouTube channels and podcasts, mainly on Philosophy and History. Please join in!

Good luck in your search, anon!

In the first and second world wars, the feeding and containing of prisoners was a great issue.
I have a pretty retarded question, why haven't they just cut off both of the prisoners index fingers (or the whole hands) and sent them home? This way they couldn't fight further, and they wouldn't need to be fed.
Or am I being too naïve?

You can still shoot, just cut off their right hand.
>>
>>1387144
That's a good solution as well. I think even the prisoners would've been okay with that. Better than starving to death.
Or did everyone hate the enemy soldiers so much that letting them go home was the last thing they wanted to see?
>>
Armies would rather enemy soldiers surrender willingly than fight. Soldiers facing guaranteed mutilation are less likely to surrender.
