Is universal suffrage a mistake?
Would you be able to vote without it?
The US constitution, for example, originally gave the right to vote to not just any white men, but property-owning white men.
So super upper-class white males were legally privileged to run the country. In today's terms that would be a white man making near 300,000 dollars per year (the approximate threshold to make it to the 1%). These would be the people able to vote. Does this describe you? No? Then you support universal suffrage.

>Super upper-class white males were legally privileged to run the country
>implying its actually different today
>>1394218
That's a pretty fallacious and frankly stupid dichotomy you've got going there.
Would Europe be better off, or worse, were it not for this man?
Probably worse. The Catholic Church would have no motivation to spur counter reformation efforts, and Europe would essentially be stuck under the influence of the Catholics in their most corrupt and detrimental phase
his biggest influence was telling the bourgeois that they could get wealthy without feeling guilty or fearing going to hell.
It is impossible to think of the USA or modern Switzerland, Netherlands or England without Luther.
>Know that Marriage is an outward material thing like any other secular business.
>But the woman is free through the divine law and cannot be compelled to suppress her carnal desires. Therefore the man ought to concede her right and give up to somebody else the wife who is his only in outward appearance.
>Suppose I should counsel the wife of an impotent man, with his consent, to giver herself to another, say her husband’s brother, but to keep this marriage secret and to ascribe the children to the so-called putative father. The question is: Is such a women in a saved state? I answer, certainly
>I confess that I cannot forbid a person to marry several wives, for it does not contradict the Scripture. If a man wishes to marry more than one wife he should be asked whether he is satisfied in his conscience that he may do so in accordance with the word of God. In such a case the civil authority has nothing to do in the matter.
>Christ committed adultery first of all with the women at the well about whom St. John tell’s us. Was not everybody about Him saying: ‘Whatever has He been doing with her?’ Secondly, with Mary Magdalen, and thirdly with the women taken in adultery whom He dismissed so lightly. Thus even, Christ who was so righteous, must have been guilty of fornication before He died.
>I, Martin Luther, have during the rebellion slain al the peasants, for it was I who ordered them to be struck dead. All their blood is upon my head. But I put it all on our Lord God: for he commanded me to speak thus.
>To kill a peasant is not murder; it is helping to extinguish the conflagration. Let there be no half measures! Crush them! Cut their throats! Transfix them. Leave no stone unturned! To kill a peasant is to destroy a mad dog!
>Peasants are no better than straw. They will not hear the word and they are without sense; therefore they must be compelled to hear the crack of the whip and the whiz of bullets and it is only what they deserve.
>90% of soldiers aim to miss and cant bring themselves to harm the enemy
Who actually believes this dumb fucking meme?
I am assuming you watched the new LindyBeige?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zViyZGmBhvs
>>1390795
Saw it in my suggestions, didn't even realize it was new. I like Lindy though, he has good videos.
>>1390790
I think it depends on the war. American Soldiers in Vietnam who were drafted to fight would be much more likely to miss than French soldiers at Waterloo.
some common language root yet to be discovered amongst paleosiberians?

Steppe is like the prehistoric version of a superhighway.
A large number of pastoral people, none of whom had writing, have been following their herds or fleeing other nomads across the steppe since the domestication of cattle.
This leads to genetic and linguistic diversity.
>>1383844
but this did not occur in africa where there is the savannah (african steppe)
all the paleo-siberian families are identical except linguistically
the difference between a samoyed, evenk, chukchi, yakut, mongol, manchu, korean, eskimo, khanti is minimal
>>1385795
I am pretty sure the Africans thanks to their climate had a more well functioning agriculture than those Siberian peoples had. This did allow for another form of conquest, correct me if wrong.

This. If we're going to revive the monarchy then let's dig-up one of confirmed descendants of the Zhu family of Ming or Zhao family of Song.
so i think we can all agree pic related best president
Pretty much, yeah
Top-brass military generals (that achieved their position through actual meritocracy) and have been through times of wars always make for the best leaders of countries regardless of time period or system of governance.
>>1394575
nah. ulysses s. grant was a piece of shit and andrew jackson wasn't great either.
eisenhower was good though.

Sir I'm sorry to say that you've made a mistake. You meant to post a picture of Bill "the economy stupid" Clinton, but your computer has apparently made some error.
Is a place like 4chan detrimental to the mind and its ability to learn?
>Constant insulting
>bias opinions
>use of made up internet slang
Do you guys feel like you are on the same threads every day for the past couple of years or no?
Do you guys think people actually come on here to discuss religious ideas?
Two people arguing, both sides just end up with the same opinion just stronger.
>>1393792
Fuck you bitch, I'm a lawyer!
>>1393792
Animosity, and free speech are some of the best aspects of 4chan, but so many people abuse them.
Great concepts wasted, because humans are scum.
>>1394054
They're not great concepts if they work theoretically and not practically. Great concepts must consider the fact that humans are scum
On D-Day, why didn't allied warships bombard the beachhead with white phosphorus rounds to create a smokescreen for the landing infantry?
>>1396408
because then you couldnt go on the beach?
The plan was to bombard the beaches with HE to outright kill the defenders.
This worked for some beaches, but the bombardment on Omaha was ineffective due to Navy weenies being unwilling to get close enough to the shore.
>>1396462
I know they tried outright annihilating the bunkers, but when that failed why not just drop an assload of Willie Pete and smoke them out? Wouldn't that save a ton of lives?
Anyone else fap to /his/ paintings?
>>1396395
When I was younger, I imagine I was these boys fucking those women to submission and pregnancy before enslaving them. I also fapped to plump women and horse paintings. It's how I developed my big butt and milf fetishes and how I got into straight shota and MLP. So, which /his/ paintings do/did you fap to?

Thank you for the story.

Would Russia still be shit today if the revolutions hadn't succeeded?
>>1396153
If there were no revolutions and Russia still had a Czar, then yes.
If there were no revolutions but Russia eventually became a democracy, then maybe
If russia had the one democratic socialist revolution, and only that one, then probably no.
Yes.
Yes, it is a Russia after all.
What are you meant to do with your life?
To put a more historical slant on it, what did people do in their spare time in the past?
I spend most of my time shitposting on 4chan, playing vidya, and watching religious debates on Youtube. There's probably more to life than this but I can't quite figure out what. Furthermore this kind of time wasting wasn't possible in the past, so what did they do? Did the Romans shitpost in the real life forvm? Did they just not have spare time?
I think this is an area where philosophy is lacking. We can argue all day about the big metaphysical questions, but what are you meant to do with the other 99% of your life?
Eat. Sleep. Maybe have sex. Perhaps even reproduce. Maybe get really good at something that you'll be remembered for it (unlikely given your statistically guaranteed to be another boring average schlub). Count yourself lucky that unlike 99% of your ancestors you have the time and comfort to ponder such questions.
>>1395954
>What are you meant to do with your life?
/his/ has established that the meaning of life is to complain about /pol/

What did the Austrian-Hungarian Empire do during ww1? I remember back in high school that we just learned that they started WW1, but then it became Germany vs the world.
>>1395576
They beat up Serbia (eventually) and then did little of effect.
They spent most of their war effort on the Eastern Front, usually losing to the Russians and needing the Germans to bail them out. They sent a few large siege artillery pieces west, IIRC.
They also fought the Italians up around the Alps, in a front that really didn't move much at all.
I think they also had some submarine action in the Med, but I don't know about that theater too well.
this >>1395655
Plus they suffered a lot of nationalist insurrections that eventually tore them apart. This was mostly down to three things:
>the entente governments supported governments-in-exile of all the nations of the empire, even the ones that did not have popular mandates from their own people
>Slavs on the eastern front did not like fighting other Slavs to further a German cause
and obviously the good old extremist Balkan nationalism that we all know and love.
>>1395576
they fought the italians a lot
What was it like living in the Soviet Union? Sounds fucking awful. How accurate is this btw?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hdh0ekN4Y50
Better than living in the countries that came after it.
Also, cold war era reports from the greatest enemy of the Soviet Union aren't exactly accurate.
>>1395506
Sometimes your enemy is the most honest. I'd trust a contemporary American professor before I would have trusted a contemporary Soviet professor desu
>>1395521
No.
That's like saying that North Korean reports about South Korea are because "Sometimes your enemy is the most honest"
Which country was the biggest JUST of WW1 and why was it Russia?
>>1395269
Russia definitely, but the Ottoman Empire and the Austro-Hungarian Empire come in as close seconds.

Italy.

Italy, no doubt about it, any other answer is wrong.
