They love Jews, the first ever Western mention is from some explorer talking about these Monotheistic people who love the Jews. Motherfucker you are dumb. Racism has only been decreasing throughout the last 100 years (in most of the west anyways). What has been increasing is society's sensitivity and ability to recognize it. There was never a "golden age", shit was just perceived and reported differently.
Also, racism is something that is strongly localized and very specific so you can't really talk about it as a global, or even national concept.

What a high standard of living ancient romans had. They had central heating, a sewer system, sophisticated streets, foods from all over the world, huge stadiums for sports entertainment, etc., etc.. all they lacked was eletric devices and their life would pretty much look like ours do.
