Pictured here is a Vendel helmet. I find it curious that the norse largely abandoned faceplates before the viking era but I suppose it's a bit like hand protection. Not very useful when you got your shield and you want to save money anyways.

Another tidbit to consider: there is some evidence to suggest that the Iron hat (or kettle helm) was a scandinavian invention that was brought to england by norwegian crusaders, but that is an 11th century thing so not entirely relevant for us.

I'd say it depends on what material you're willing to go through, since most of, if not All the litterary sources are heavily influenced by Christian scholars and society.

"Age of the Vikings" by Anders Winroth for a broad, general overview of the Viking Age and Scandinavian social structure
"We are our deeds" by Eric Wodening for a (extrapolated) look at Pagan Germanic (including pre-Christian Norse) ethics and morality

Hurstwic dot org has a lot of broad, shallow articles on different Viking Age stuff. They're a bunch of HEMA LARPers but they support a lot of it with existing scholarly articles, saga evidence, and play around with a lot of props and reconstructions.

Well they hate Sufis for 2 reasons.

Sufis think that music is a pathway to greater knowledge of the Divine, which is considered idol worship by many other muslim sects.

Sufis also have a tendency to esotericism and mysticism, to which other muslim sects use the passage of the Hadith where Muhammad says that monasticism and asceticism is wrong, against them.
