Why has the Far East always been the most alien and incomprehensible part of the world to the Western mind?

It isn't. Black Africa, Australian aboriginals and and Amerindians are far more alien to the European mindset than the Far East.

The Euthypro dilemma presupposes a multitude of possibly varying desires and goals among the god*s*. It's really a pointless distinction in a Monotheistic system

The trinitarian Christian version of God certainly put his money where his mouth was, so I'd say good because neither and both.

I know the Romans stole Greece's gods. But what were their gods before they stole Greece's gods?
36 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
They didn't "steal" Greece's gods. They encountered the Greeks and found their gods similar to their own so they thought up certain equivalencies and combined their stories.
>>
They had their own gods. What happened was the Greeks heavily influenced the Romans. So, the Romans began to apply Greek ideas about their gods onto the existing Roman gods. Though, they did add some wholly Greek gods every once in a while.
>>
You have to remember that very early Rome was surrounded by cities that were either Greek colonies or were heavily influenced by Greek culture.

What the fuck was their problem?

>Indo-European
Hello, aren't you forgetting something? Why doesn't the term "indo-European" acknowledge the Iranian/Aryan language branch? Shouldn't it be called the "Indo-Euro-Aryan" language branch and peoples?
21 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>2415386

The Iranians are too Arabicized to be considered as genuine Ino-Europeans both in culture and ethnicity.
>>
>>2415386
Iranian languages are part of the wider Indo-Aryan branch and it's just easier to say Indo-European even though Iran is in between India and Europe.
>>
>>2415386
How about just Aryan like all academics called it before the 1940s? Indo-European is a politically correct term.

Is there anything more "interesting" than Iran?

A country with a modern air force, nuclear
weapons, secret services, hackers, etc

Yet their politics are based on religion

1. Why is the American corporate tax rate so high and,
2. Is it true that lowering the rate will stimulate investment?
24 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
>>
>>2414195
>what is double taxation

>>2414189
Corporate tax rate is so high because it's an indirect way to make money. Insiders like Apple get to use loopholes to, in some cases, even make negative income tax, but it still earns revenue without pissing off the plebs. The results of higher corporate taxes fuel anti-corporate sentiment, not anti-government sentiment.

Lowering the rate will most definitely stimulate investment. Look at Ireland as an example. In certain cases, countries that lack significant amounts of cheap labor or large natural resources will cultivate a pro-business environment to attract development. Hong Kong, Singapore, and others have all copied this model.
>>
>>2414212
I'm probably misunderstanding this but essentially companies are actually better off with the way the corporate tax system works now and reform by trying to bring them back to the US is good for the economy as a whole but not for the corporations themselves?

Title is self explanatory.

I found this random pic while on some random world of tanks shit, and did some reading on the matter.

Now I'm here wondering if there is any, or more than one, completely awesome or awe-inspiring historical people we never get to hear about or who everyone simply forgot about.

What's the overarching message of the Upanishads?
33 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>2410499
Considering there are 108 of them, you'll need to be more specific.
>>
I doubt that there is one. Polytheism exists as the end result of extreme tolerance. Polytheism is created by the merging of worship of several different gods. There is no overarching message because polytheism is less like a religion and more like the culture that exists once all religions are considered equally valid.
>>
The holy commandment "never poo in loo." Is the main them of all 108 of them.

Why shouldn't states be allowed to unilaterally secede from the union?

>inb4 muh national integrity
Not an argument. If the people within a state don't want to be part of the US any more it's more than a bit tyrannical to force them to stay.
