Should i wholesale take stoic physics as my belief system? Should I observe the Pneuma as God/ God as Pneuma?
Everything to do with Stoic philosophy makes perfect sense to me, and I'd like to make it the philosophy that governs my life. Should I make it my theology too?
science isn't a belief system
>>2827382
You clearly have no idea what the nature of Stoic belief is in this regard
>>2827315
Could you be so kind as to recommend me some stoic literature?
i've only read Meditations thus far
So my Philosophy teacher has just let me to get a meme for an exam

>Holy Roman Empire
This is very difficult to say while keeping a straight face. I wonder who can, because indeed it is hard.
"Holy", you say, while grinning like Voltaire did. "Holy", it is its name. But then, thinking of "Holy", you think about all the Emperors who were excommunicated. You think about all those who tried to fuck with the pope. You think about the wars of religion and how many of them ended up as protestant heretics.
But then, the funniest is coming: "Roman". Yes, now, you cannot contain your laughter. "Roman", it is called despite the fact that this "Roman" body is standing on Germania, a land so harsh and poor that the Legions of Rome refused to set foot on it. A germanic and barbaric people, yes, but still calling themselves "Roman".
And now, here is the end of the fun: "Empire". Now you fell on the ground, laughing so hard that you cannot breathe. An "Empire", a body made of dozens of petty duchies and counties, all fighting for themselves, giving strange names to their position, full of Grand-Dukes or Archdukes. An "Empire" who will stay between Poland and France, while the great powers of Europe will create colonies all around the world.
>Holy
>Roman
>Empire

Was this really said by Voltaire?
I have an idea, I shalt need more now
>>2827134
He literally didn't do anything wrong. He brought along western values to an uncivilized people who had accomplished nothing before he came. He built infrastructure, the Africans were way better off when he came.
>>2827188
Yeah he taught them how to organize poorly discipline militia, institute slavery and then he dealt with there over population problem. and all they had to give back was millions of dollars in resources.

Serious question but why isn't Leopold as famous as someone like Pol Pot despite killing a lot more
Anyone got a feeling that something huge will definitely happen before 2050 that might change the whole status quo of our world?I mean not only the politics status is unstable, society's essence is also starkly alien. We are indifferent, unsympathetic and society's effort has been focused on vanity, instead of innovation and self-improvement. Is it now the age of decadence?I've just graduated from uni and now I'm quite lost, as I have the nagging feeling that my choice in life won't probably matter in the face of the changing tides.
I honestly doubt it. It's not in anyone's best interest to go to a total war. What would be the point? Even if you know you can come out "victorious" vs the US (who aren't going to stop playing world cops) it would never be worth it since we would just dump our nuclear arsenal on you when it looks like it's game over and just like that hundreds of millions of people die so that you can annex a shitty scrap of irradiated wasteland. There would have to be a massive advance in defense systems which just isn't going to happen.
Best way is to concentrate on your own microworld around you and avoid caring for things bigger than you can reach.
>>2827092
Well to be honest, I haven't thought of a all-out war scenario, but a systematic war in society is how I think it will be. Lately there are so many conflicting sources of information that you do not even know what is real anymore. People just follow their trust blindly with confirmation bias. No one wants the truth at all, they just root for their beliefs. The ideas of "If you're not with us, you're against us" is rampant. The concept of objectivity is utterly foreign nowadays.
Who do you think were the first people on Earth? Whites, blacks or browns?
Race isn't a thing but they would have been dark-skinned people living in Africa.
Browns. Probably like the san people of Africa.
"whites, blacks and browns" as a way of characterising human populations would've been laughed at 100 years ago, never mind today
Besides the obvious sperging out when he sees obama, what would George washington think of all the presidents after him?
If he had this knowledge before he did anything in office, do you think he would do anything different?
>>2826446
He hated political parties and backstabbing so he would pretty much hate all of them.
Probably pissed at Lincoln for burning down his state and killing his relatives.
>>2826453
>Hated backstabbing
>Backstabbed the crown
>be pope
>minding my own business when I feel a tug on my cloak
>"well if it isn't lil' Napoleon Bonaparte, what can I do for you?"
>"mister pope, could you pwease get that cwown on the top shelf?"
>"sure lil' buddy, here you go"
>he puts it on his head and wobbles away
what cute kid
>>2826410
This is fucking good
>pope
>minding my own business
You're funny
Wasn't he practically Napoleon's prisoner?
Do humans naturally have sexual attraction towards one another? Or is it a cultural thing? I mean in a romantic sense, not "have sex to continue lineage" sort of way.
>>2826046
>I mean in a romantic sense, not "have sex to continue lineage" sort of way.
I don't think it's easy to separate the two desu
>>2826062
As in, when did people add the wooing part in relationships? Was it always there as a biological factor? Or as human culture advanced, courtship started appearing? To compare, animal sexual relationships basically boil down to "I'm the biggest and strongest of the group, so have sex with me". Alpha males and all that. For humans, it's all about love.

You should ask /sci/.
This board will not be able to give you a proper answer, since that requires knowledge of neuroscience, evolution, ethology, and human psychology.
Does anyone have any sort of references on the economic policies imposed by the third reich??? Are there any recorded sources out there at all or are they a secret?
>>2826031
>>2826070
No I meant an actual reference or an article that I can read.
read Tim Mason
How ripped was the average man throughout history? Were there even enough calories to get ripped or was everyone just a skinny yet strong manlet?
>>2825999
Obesity was certainly less common in earlier times (even during the Cold War), but being"ripped" is also a matter of being dehydrated as well as muscular/lean.
not very
even industrial workers were generally lean
look at any picture of ww2 soldiers, most are slim to skinnyfat
You obviously need to define ripped.
With a low enough bodyfat %, you dont need much muscle to look "ripped"
Hay /his/ I'm writing a paper on propaganda during world both wars can any of you suggest a good source?
>>2825901
I actually critiqued a paper comparing American and German propaganda during WWII this last semester. I have a copy in my emails. You want me to forward it to you?
>>2826005
Would be pretty great, anon.
>>2826060
What's a good email to send it to?
Did the USSR and Ostbloc have a rothchild own central bank?
They were state owned.
>>2825888
There's literally no such thing as a "rothchild own central bank" [sic]. When will this meme die?
The Rothchilds have never owned a central bank, fuck off back to >>>/pol/
Do you personally believe that the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were necessary? Why or why not? Personally, I believe that Truman made the right decision in dropping them in order to avoid going through with operation downfall.
Pic not related
in b4 weebs
It wasn't really a decision. Imagine how horrific an invasion would have been. Now imagine that after that horrific invasion the people of the United States found out there was a weapon that could have ended the war without invading.
>>2825860
I wouldn't argue they were existentially necessary. Other options did exist, such as invasion or blockade. I do think that they were the quickest and least painful method of forcing a surrender though, but that's more under the heading of "expedient" than "necessary".
>>2825860
Hiroshima definitely was. Nagasaki is a lot more debatable.
why was the the reconstruction period such a shit show? why was the KKK and similar organizations allowed to freely rape, torture, and murder anyone they didnt like. why does southern culture allow these acts of pure barbarity?
Think of genetic component of the South. Scots-Irish, wasp and Blacks. Such a combination is pure barbarity and a true gentlemen would want to stay a million miles away from.
The whole point of wearing masks when they engaged in criminal activities. At the height of their power many police departments were either too afraid to act or had officers that were actually in on it. Others probably turned a blind eye out of spite and bitterness over the war.
>>2825869
Go shitpost somewhere else
>why was the the reconstruction period such a shit show?
because the southern economy tanked and infrastructure was gone. Radical Republicans thought it would be a good idea to immediately enfranchise ex-slaves and disfranchisement the southern white majority. This was never going to last long term.
>why was the KKK and similar organizations allowed to freely rape, torture, and murder anyone they didnt like
The government attempted to stomp them out with progressively harsher laws. However as every other insurgency in world history, they could still operate on the fringes of society. Don't be melodramatic.
>why does southern culture allow these acts of pure barbarity?
Stuff like this happens anytime a social order gets overthrown and complete anarchy emerges. Stop shitposting.
>president gets on tv and literally warns the country about the illuminati taking over
seriously, why isnt this moment considered more significant? why do only conspiracy theory people ever even acknowledge this?
fuck off idiot i learned about the military industrial complex in middle school
>>2825623
Why are you conflating the military industrial complex, literally just the industries that produce military equipment for the government, with the 'illuminati'?
His speech was about keeping guard against the potential lobbying influence of big arms companies who had a pecuniary interest in war & military expenditure.
youtube link (no edited video just the speech with the time he directly states "illuminati")
