Objectively speaking, what is so bad about neoliberal corporatism?
Neoliberal corporatism is an oxymoron.
>>2835947
Nothing, neoliberalism has uplifted millions of people out of poverty and improved the economy of developing countries at a rapid pace.
If you aren't a neoliberal, then you simply don't understand economics.
Does talent exist or is it an excuse made up by the ones who never amounted to anything?
Does hard work have any meaning? Does hard work mean success will come to be?
Can hard work beat talent? Or does talent always triumph over hard work?
>>2835943
Talent and hard work and its byproduct luck is necessary if you want to be at the top of whatever it is that you do.
Talent brings one to the uncharted frontiers, hard work only brings one to the finish line. Thinking hard work is much better than natural talent is a problem in Western Civilization today.
>>2835943
it's a useful lie for our society, otherwise people who have inherently shit genes-like me- would just give up, but instead we lie and say anyone can be great if they work hard enough, and so shitty people like me at least make the best of it despite never having the potential of someone with natural talent. Talent is nothing without hard work but hard work without talent will never match talent and hardwork together.
So basically hard work is the vehicle for self improvement but talent dictates your ceiling.
Do you ever get spooked about the fact that you live in a densely populated city block surrounded by at least a couple thousand people and you don't know or interact with any of them? And if you're lucky you maybe recognize a handful of them by face, and maybe say hello and good bye to a two or three?
It's all kind of horrific when you think about it.
>>2835820
I live 2 blocks away from where that pic was taken. Sunnyside is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the world, but we all have the same middle class lifestyle. I feel way more connected to my current surroundings then to where I grew up (West Village). The only horrific thing to think about is the impending gentrification.
>>2835965
Breh how can you walk through the densely packed prewar tenements of Sunnyside packed to the brim with thousands of tenants that you never interact with and not feel a bit off from the absurdity of it all?
>>2835972
I grew up with it so I'm used to it I guess. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy rural solitude as well. Sunnyside is way less packed then my old hood. Greenwich Village has crowds of tourists comparable to Disneyland on most days

Wait, what? Do I even want to know what bullshit reason he has for holding such an opinion?
>>2835744
Probably for being okay with owning slaves, I guess. I recall him denouncing some Greek philosopher for that achronistic bullshit reason.

Serious question.

What was 2013? 2014? When one of his movies was put up on Netflix and all of a sudden every Democrat leaning hipster started talking about Lacan and the need for a Marxist Leninist revolution? Yeah. It was that. Netflix.

Can the socratic method be used when a question is being directed at you?
Surely utilising it in such a situation merely turns the question back against the person asking?
Say in an interview you are asked:
"What can you do for our company which would be beneficial?"
>"What do you mean by beneficial?"
"Well, what can you do which will improve or support the continuing efforts of our current staff?"
>"That question implies that your staff are in need of help, that without help they might not be able to continue, would that be correct?"
"Yes, we dont have enough staff."
>"Ah but that doesn't necessarily mean that the current staff need help. Is there a notable downturn in productivity?"
"There is"
>"And is the problem you are experiencing cancelled out by the application of skills which I have noted on my resume?"
"It is"
>"And does that resume contain anything which would prevent me from successfully filling that role?"
"There isnt"
>"Then the answer is clear - I am the perfect man for this position."
Lol
The hr roastie would probably have a meltdown as soon as you asked her what beneficial meant.

We just pretend like its not because we do not like to imagine ourselves in an abusive relationship with corporate america.
>One ancient account of the death of Chrysippus, the 3rd century BC Greek Stoic philosopher, tells that he died of laughter after he saw a donkey eating his figs; he told a slave to give the donkey neat wine with which to wash them down, and then, "...having laughed too much, he died"
I don't get it
>>2835429
if he had a wife he would have given her to the donkey as well

Only the 3rd century BC kids will get.
Sounds pretty funny. Imagine being there, it'd be even Funnier
Why didn't pagan Europe have prophets equivalent to Middle Eastern desert hermit madmen?
>Like lets say a madman comes out of the Teutonic forest goes to an unimportant Germanic tribe and starts destroying statues of Odin and Donar while claiming that he has "revelations" from the valkyries from the One True God(TM) and calling for the conversion of neighbouring tribes.
Why didn't this happen?
Why did only sandnigger tribes have to put up with the BS of such people?
>>2835291
>Why didn't this happen?
Because if someone pulled that shit they'd get brutally murdered.

Vietnam Thread?
What could the US have done differently to stamp out the NVA?
Did the South deserve support?
Was the Domino theory true?
>>2835287
Get captured NVA and VC fighters
Rape and torture them all to death
Find their families
Torture, mutilate, rape, and murder them all to the 9th degree
Make the villagers fear you more than the VC
The US crushed the VC.
The basic problem is that the North was protected by the Chinese, and China had the atom bomb.
As long as these two things were true, it would always be possible for the North to just keep sending people down to die.
Also, the South Vietnamese government sucked. Fundamentally, the war was caused by French people creating a massive hole of suck.
nothing, you cant mindcontrol ppl, if they are against you, you wont change their mind by killing them, no you cannot kill all of them
and before you edgy americans arrive, if you try anything, youll be eradicated by the rest of humanity
one of the bad moves of supporting a shithead corrupt organisation that was the "south"
obviously not, vietnam was lost, yet it didnt start a red infection all over the world
Why didn't we listen?
