Why don't we have legislative and government representation directly correlate with the amount of taxes paid by the voter?
For example, Richie McRichson has a 100 voting power, from the large amount of taxes he has to pay, this gives him 2 representatives.
While the entire village of Smallmound only has 50 voting power, because they pay half the amount of taxes, thus they only get one representative.
This would incentivize people to pay more taxes if they want more privileges, while also giving the ability to trade in less taxes for less representation.

Why is arranged marriage so stigmatized in the West? I'm not saying people should be forced to marry someone by punishment of law but you don't choose your parents or siblings yet learn to love them anyway. Why shouldn't the same apply to a spouse? When people are young they tend to make rash, inexperienced decisions which haunt them later in life. With arranged marriage you have mature, wiser parties involved who are looking out for the benefit of the whole family. Not just the selfish, fleeting whims of two individuals.

As of 2013 the average age of marriage in the USA is 28. That's pretty young imo but ultimately young is subjective. At any rate someone in their 50s naturally has more wisdom than someone in their late 20s.
