I got an important email, but it all appears as nonsense numbers and letters. It seems to have been sent from outlook. I'm not too savvy with computers.
Anything I can do to read the email?
You should definitely try to read it and open any attachments it may contain
>>55281177
No attachments, just looks like some kind of language (I only know TeX and C++). I emailed the person back saying I couldn't read it, and they replied again and again it's not readable.
Maybe their email account is compromised ?
How do you back up your critical data to make sure you don't lose it due to a drive failure?
dropbox
maybe google drive if you're poor
i write it down on paper

I trust it to NSA.
Is there a particular 60-250G SSD that stands out in reliability ?

http://9to5google.com/2016/06/26/google-working-on-its-own-android-smartphone-report/amp/
>There have been several reports over the last year mentioning Google’s interest in building a smartphone. Although the company does have its own Nexus program to showcase the best the Android platform has to offer (and, at least was true at first, provide some baseline devices for developers), it still needs to somewhat compromise on hardware here and there by much less directly impacting the engineering process.
>However, it looks like this may not remain the case for much longer, with a new report — once again — suggesting that Google plans to launch something much more home-grown than in years previous…
>According to an anonymous tip we received earlier this year from an IP address located near Google’s campus, the company is “annoyed” at the iPhones perception of being the only “premium” offering on the market.
>We had already heard that the idea was being talked inside the company, but despite CEO Sundar Pichai’s apparent shutdown of the rumor at Code Conference last month — where he emphasized that Google would be “more opinionated” about Nexus devices in the future, but still work with third party manufacturers — a Telegraph report today is suggesting that we might see a full-Google smartphone, and possibly by the end of the year too.

What are you working on, /g/?
I'm making a web interface for docker. I'm sure something like that exists already but I wanted to roll my own and see if I could do it.

First for meemory safety.
Writing a game in C. I'm targeting the monitor refresh rate. I do all the work, draw the frame, sleep until just before monitor refresh, then wake up, present the frame, and start working on the next one.
There was some garbage input lag on the mouse cursor since my frames are over 15ms stale. How do I fix this? I'm thinking about drawing the graphics, then drawing redrawing the UI over and over again if the cursor moves in a busy wait loop instead of sleeping. It's not really noticeable if the game is 15ms behind, but the UI needs to be responsive.
Is busy waiting a bad idea or is it fine now since every CPU is multicore?
Help me understand something.
I have 2gb ram because I'm a sad child, so every bit is important to me. Now, Windows says that I'm using 80% of my ram idling at the desktop with nothing open, which 80% should be around 1638mb used. However, if I add up all the ram used by every process using more than 1mb of ram, it comes out to 554mb, a far cry from the 1638mb 80% Windows says I'm using.
Anyways, my question is, is there anything that'll help me analyze where my memory has gone? Like give me a pie chart or some shit?

This
Lads so some days ago, I found my old ipod nano 2g, that I thought I had lost. I broke my old sansa clip and they are getting expensive, and I just don't like to play music on the phone.
So I decided to install rockbox on the nano, I did install the stable version but since it has only 4gb of storage and that version doesn't have support for the opus codec, I decided to upgrade to latest dev build, which broke my ipod.
What to do? do I just reformat the ipod and install the stable version?
Also aac 128kpbs good enough since the stable version doesn't support opus?

Nice clock Ahmed.
Are the 1080's really still out of stock everywhere except shitty re-sellers charging 800+ for a 600 dollar card? I check Newegg every day and all the models are OOS every single godam time, amazon is useless, and i dont even know where else to check that is reliable.
I knew it was a paper launch but its been over a fucking month.
Ur gon a have to wait a few months you Twat.
They're not hard to get here in the UK
>$600 for a fucking graphics card

Oh yeah, NOTHING wrong.
I'm looking to get a HTPC, and originally i was going to build a Mini ITX... but I just discovered Gigabyte Brix (pic related), and love how small it is.
Uses of the HTPC will be watching media, torrenting, browsing internet.
Does anyone have any experience with Gigabyte Brix?
>>55280155
get a nuc.
Get a fucking compute stick
>>55280165
Had a look at them too.
Why do you think they're better?
Did anyone make a digital picture frame with sound that plays webms but only when you look at it?
>>55280085
yes
yeah but it's easier just to buy a haunted painting.
wouldn't you want it to only play when you DON'T look at it?
It seems really stupid, but I can't think of a reason why no major manufacturer is making a small good phone. The iPhone SE is kind of there but it's Apple.
Where are the Androids? The Sony Z seems to be dead and the X is DOA, Samsung is keeping mum on an S7 Mini, LG who I would love to buy from isn't making anything worth while small and Motorola blew up in size and then sold out under lenovo.
Here's what I'd like to see
820 SoC
2K AMOLED
4-4.5" Screen
3,000 mah battery
SD card slot
Android 6.0.1
Thumbprint reader (preferably on the side)
15MP rear camera (laser focusing would be nice, but better low light capabilites are more important)
5MP front camera
Quickcharge 3.0
Qi/Wireless charging
Bluetooth 4.2
USB-C
Stereo front speakers
(A nice DAC would be nice too)
~$450
Make the damn thing thicker if need be, 0.40" isn't crazy thick, used to be considered damn near svelte and now we're talking 0.30" and looking at a trend lower.
It looks like a giant fucking hole in the market just begging to be filled, but everyone seems reluctant for some reason.
Why?

I envy you for living in a very quiet area. I'm in the suburbs but the sound of wind and the occasional passing car is enough to cover for slight computer sound.
Can you move the tower any further away and/or put stuff between it and you?

yes sir, i am understanding you have a problem with sound.
have you tried turning your computer off.
