Sup /g/, today you have the opportunity to design your perfect smartphone. You can combine ideas from existing smartphones, or submit original ideas. The rules are simple:
> Has to be made using existing technologies
> Must be a consumer product, i.e. retail price has to be under $1000
Categories include: Design, display, processor, RAM, storage, battery, camera, audio, expandability, software, connectivity, communications, other (sensors, etc)
My perfect smartphone:
> Design
Based on the Moto X Pure/Style 2015, same exact design except in a 5.5" form factor. Add a fingerprint sensor on the back dimple and upgrade to Gorilla Glass 4 on the front. On the back the same material only removable (but does not come off too easily).
> Display
2560 x 1440 5.5" AMOLED Display (On par with Samsung Super AMOLED)
> Processor
Snapdragon 820
> RAM
4 GB or 6 GB
> Storage
64 GB or 128 GB
> Battery
3600 mAh with Fast/Turbo Charging and Wireless Charging
> Camera
Back - 21 MP, OIS, HDR, fast processing, LED Flash
Front - 12 MP, LED Flash
> Audio
Two front facing stereo speakers like the Moto X Pure/Style
> Expandability
Removal back, with access to replaceable battery, dual SIM tray and two high speed microSD up to 1TB
> Software
Prerooted ROM based on CyanogenMod optimized for customization, multiple kernel support, and completely optimized for the hardware
> Connectivity
USB Type C with Fast/Turbo Charging and 2.5mm headphone jack
> Communications
Full support for Western and Eastern networks, latest WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, Bluetooth, NFC, IR Blaster, Mobile Hotspot, Wireless Charging, FM/AM Radio antenna, GPS
> Other
4 proximity sensors in lieu of Moto X Pure/Style, Accelerometer, Waterproof
Can't think of anything else for now, but would gladly take suggestions.

Software
>Fast and responsive at every load like I load it at the first time
>Designed different from modern flatness
>Text isn't placed every two words per screen
Too bad it'll rocket prices for this smartphone, so I can only dream.
Trying to copy a file with a batch im writing.
Everything worked up until now, where i put
xcopy tempFile.txt "%date%-%time%.txt"
It specifies it as a file, but i always get
Invalid path
0 File(s) copied
Why wont windows let me assign a variable from the console (ie %time% and %date%) to a filename?
If i change the output to
xcopy tempFile.txt "SomeBlandFileName.txt"
it works fine, but thats not what i want.
Any help /g/?

Btw, that pokemon is Marge.
You were wrong
Anyone?
%date%-%time% looks like it would return a number, not a string.

Nice digits.
What's the /g/ consensus on using a PC for both work, and gayming?
Use it for whatever you want. Its your PC after all.

Ask your small/stupid questions that don't deserve their own thread here.
I have a laptop hard drive that makes a squeaky/chirpy noise. What's the exact cause of this? Should I expect failure soon even though S.M.A.R.T. shows nothing wrong?
Is it okay to just use bacteria from my mouth to make soy yogurt? I made soymilk last week then drank from it and left it out for a day and it had turned into pretty good yogurt. Should I do it again?

You have to put more effort into it if you want more attention.
>I love my big phone
>Has to use two hands to type on it
>Says it's good for videos
>Can't even use whole screen with thumb
fuck off
Why the fuck do normies want gigantic phones? I swear any phone with a screen bigger than 3.5 inches is literally fucking useless, I got got a Huawei phone under the expectation that it would be a decent usable size, but it's way to fucking big
I swear people only use these big phones like fashion accessories or some shit, I mean 4.5+ inch phones are literally way too fucking big for the average hand.
whats the choose option for

>I have small feminine hands

>I have autistic monster hands
sorry, but the average American is only like 5'7"
Educate a build fag that's been out of the market for the last 6 years on processors.
Do you have any writeup recommendations I can take a look at? I built a tier one rig way back when and haven't really kept up with the specs on new processors/motherboards.
Thanks

Whichever one you'd like.
Gwenview is nice.
I'm starting uni soon and looking for a cheap laptop. Is the Toshiba Chromebook 2 a good laptop for light usage like school work? Not going to be downloading games and shit I just need something for schoolwork and will probably download MT4 along with other documents I'll need for school but that's about it.
16 GB SS HD and 4 GB Ram I figured that would be good enough. Any other recommendations are welcome.
Just get an old thinkpad t42

Anything less and you just wish you bought it instead.

Thinkpad T420/T520 or X220 for extra portability
Have you guys sued Microsoft yet?
>The Seattle Times reports that Teri Goldstein, of Sausalito, California, sued Microsoft after a failed Windows 10 upgrade left her system performing poorly, prone to crashing, and reportedly unusable for multiple days. Given the general issues associated with performing in-place upgrades, even successful ones, it’s not surprising that some users would run into problems. Goldstein reached out to Microsoft customer service to attempt to resolve her issues, but filed suit against the company once it failed to resolve her problems. Her $10,000 figure reflected estimated lost compensation as well as the cost of a new system.

I didn't want to start a thread just for this but the Stupid question thread died on me
I've been getting black screen freezes while gaming for a couple weeks now.
The screen goes black, audio keeps going for a while and then stutters and stops until I hardreset.
I've ran memtest a couple times, reinstalled AMD drivers and checked temperatures.
Windows event viewer isn't recording shit on these crashes btw.
The GPU usage looks wonky to me but I don't know if that's normal.
Anything else I can try before giving up and going to a tech store?

I'm getting a new laptop this week and I want to make the switch to Linux.
There's too many distros out in there and I can't choose on which to get. I just want one that is easy to use and looks "good" out of the box. What recommendation do you guys have? Don't suggest gentoo please.
>>55284598
i suggest staying out of unity because of "no menu icons meme" - on gnome you can at least enable it. So i guess kubuntu , ubuntu-gnome , fedora gnome/kde , or even open suse is ok for a begginer.
Also this doesnt really deserve a thread

Why is it so god damn cheap? You literally can't find a better brand new phone for this price.
The answer is in specs, on the right in your picture. It's cheap because it's shit.

Shit screen + Boost which means its probably only usable with Boost mobile. Chances are they use CDMA tech and can't change to other carriers.
