What is so special about the Raspberry Pi?

Why do people love it?
29 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
>>55274053
It's not really all that special, it's just cheap and already widely adopted by many people. Lots of operating systems and software support it readily aswell.
>>
>>55274238
Can you run Windows 1.0 on it?
>>
>>55274053
They're powerful enough for servers/streaming devices and such, they're small, and pretty inexpensive (around $35).

When someone says "linux", what distro immediately pops into your head? Which one do you consider to be THE linux experience, that everyone you imagine someone to be using when they mention they use linux until you're told otherwise?
30 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
I assume they're using Ubuntu or Mint since most other people aren't embarrassed by their distribution and usually say
>I use Debian GNU/Linux
or
>I use Slackware

Ideally the most pure experience; the most "THE" Linux is Slackware.

Android

Great question and it's completely based on the appearance and tone of the conversation.

Layman here, can someone answer these questions?

1. Why do we need to mine crypto currencies? Why can't create let's say 2^64 ccoins and act as an exchange? People can buy from him and the price will adjust itself.

2. Why don't corporations push for crypto currencies? They just love a walled garden, why not have an AppleCoin, GoogleCoin, AmazonCoin? I imagine there is a plethora of tax optimization there too.

+1 How one can create a new coin?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>1
concentrating the currency with one person is a retarded idea that no one would use, mining only costs your computation power and many users can obtain it that way without using actual currency
>2
crypto currency has the value of which people assign it
if it is like standard crypto-currencies where you mine it then that would be retarded
>>
>>55274049
why is it retarded? What is an exchange if not a particular client with a hefty supply?
>>
>>55274171
You are expending computational power to get actual goods from a currency whose inherit value is that which is assigned to it
There is no need to do so anyway considering online services such as those provide legal goods

Would you guys gladly buy Apple if the devices were not marked up so high?
347 posts and 52 images submitted.
>>
No. They don't make tech they make jewelry. Ghetto bling at best.

For example they made a laptop with 1 fucking port. That is utterly pathetic. They do not care about function...they only care that it's slightly thinner (pointless bullshit).

Apple is style over substance hence why poor people treat it as a status symbol. Its ghetto.

Friendly reminder that if you're still using GNU/Communism you will have no replacement for:

>Photoshop
>Illustrator
>MSPaint
>Decent File Explorer
>iMovie
>Logic Pro
>90% Steam Titles
Why deprive yourself of real world programs just to have a hobo hobbyist beta-OS? There's a reason macOS and Windows cost money. cucks: they're usable.

It'll be interesting from a technical standpoint, but its still a console, and no one should trust Microsoft's user harming policies.

What went wrong with the internet? I remember back when I was a teenager in the early 2000s everyone told you to never post any information about yourself on the internet, now everyone is expected to have every tiny thing about themselves archived on facebook and shit.

Yes, that's just it, YOU REMEMBER. As in, you remember wrong.

Look we've had this conversation a million times, it's perfectly fine to enjoy the internet as you have been having for the past 15, just because faceshit/whatever exists, stop fucking caring.

If you keep going with this, you WILL end up in an IRC/BBS circlejerk, wasting decades, it's much worse.
