When converting from WAV to FLAC, how can I know that the conversion is actually lossless?
>>55339744
Convert from FLAC back to WAV, export the raw PCM from both the transcoded WAV and the original WAV, diff the raw data
>>55339753
How do I do that? Can something like audacity do it?
Compression levels
libFLAC uses a compression level parameter that varies from 0 (fastest) to 8 (smallest). The compressed files are always perfect, lossless representations of the original data. Although the compression process involves a tradeoff between speed and size, the decoding process is always quite fast and not very dependent on the level of compression.
I have a XFX r9 280x currently; im just wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to the 480
Not until AMD finds a way to stop the cards from drawing way too much power from the PCI-e slot.
>>55339727
You should give it another couple of weeks to make a decision. Partner boards will reveal how Polaris really performs, and by that time, we may see a 1060 launch, which could be better value.
>weaker than a 390
>on par with a 970
>Literal housefire
>PCIe 200W draw (might force AMD to issue refunds)
>same price as the 970/390
Is this a bigger blunder than the Fury cards?
>comparing on a resolution where none of the cards are meant for
>10 fps more on 1080p then 970
>>55339696
970/480 ~= 8% difference
480/390 ~= 5% difference
If 480 is weaker than 390, then shouldn't 480 be stronger than 970?
Did OP fail basic math?
OP, those benchmarks are of a reference stock 480 vs a aftermarket overclocked 390.
Once we get aftermarket 480s, the gap between the 390 will close and perhaps even be exceeded.

This, even for a dissertation that shouldn't do, unless he crowbars in something cool like advanced AI

Boring as hell.
>develop a software
Might get you a job afterwards.
>make a DBMS
Oh well, DBs are fun.
But it depends on how "low level " you have to start? If you have to low level shit like "how to lock pages" I wouldn't do it.

Not OP, but you could do a lot with a Java Card game:
Think about the network support, graphics, combinatorical / scheduling problems, the AI, the way he uses abstract patterns..

Can you imagine the shitstorm that would ensue if it turned that NVIDIA was basically releasing an overclocked GTX 980 gimped with 3GB VRAM and calling it the GTX 1060?
It would still be faster than the RX 480 and would cost them practically nothing to do.
New node's gonna be cheaper and Nvidia obviously has the performance sorted, so I can't see Nvidia sticking with 28nm any longer.
>>55339604

It's cute how you think anyone can sell a 400mm2 die on a HP process for $200 without razor thin margins

Hi /g/,
I got a Macbook (13,3" early 2011) for free from my company, since no one was able to get Mac OSX on it nor restore it (My company found this machine in a car they bought.) So I installed Linux Mint on it since it runs pretty well.
No one was able to get OSX on it since we need the credentials of the first user. When I try installing it I receive the error "This item is temporarily unavailable".
I don't have a restore partition. I can use internet restore from Apple but this is what gave me the error above. Can I make a bootable medium with OSX to install it? Or should I just order a 10.6 disc from the official Apple website.
Format the HD from another computer, put it back in and try Internet restore again. You're welcome.

What the fuck is going on?!
What the fuck is this aids shit!?
Why do people need thinner phones for ? What's the matter ? It's perhaps design, but it's not practical.
And of course it's gonna work because normies are dumb
Thankfully with Android if one manufacturer gets stupid, there are other choices, and the sales hit will force dumb OEM back to feature parity. Think about how various OEMs have tried to ditch the microSD card slot (HTC One M7, LG G 2, Samsung S6, ect) only to bring it back for the next iteration. Same thing will happen with the 3.5mm headphone jack, especially since even more people will want to use standard headphones than sdcards.
Only thing that will change is you'll have to get a chink 3.5mm to ishit adapter if you use an ishit
I built my first PC this May. For new PC builders, here is some random advice:
1. Do not be afraid to drop a good sum of money on a good case. This is, after all, your PC's home, and will be your PC's home for a very long time. Buy something nice, and make sure it is something that is loaded with dust filters and keeps your PC cool.
2. Buy a CPU that fits your needs, and no more than that. If all you are doing is gaming and other misc tasks like light photo editing, you do not need an 8 core processor like the i7 branch. That extra money should instead go towards the case.
3. If you are a hardcore gamer, buy the latest bestest graphics card out there. Otherwise, if you dont game very much, buy a graphics card that plays your favorite games perfectly. Chances are you can save money on this.
4. SSD's are in fact not a meme and are actually that good for your pc. Best most noticeable upgrade in my entire rig.
5. Last piece of advice is to calm down, relax, and spend time RESEARCHING everything you buy. You know that spec page on Newegg products? Read that shit. Spend time on designing your pc, be open to spending four or more months designing this thing. (I wish I built a micro pc).
Anyway, I think that's for now. I made a bunch of mistakes with my build, and I am actually thinking about taking the hard drives out and selling the pc for a new build. Mostly because of the case (Corsair 200). It's lack of filters and proper cooling is very infuriating. (And micro cases are just cooler to look at.)
Also, build thread.
