Just a bit of fun, better then GPU wars.
Do you have an e-reader, /g/?
Kobo, Kindle? How do you like yours? Pet peeves? On the verge of buying one? E-book sources? Still prefer physical copies? etc etc
>>55581752
I don't read so there is no reason for me to buy an ereader.
A while ago, though, when ereaders were just being released on the market, I remember there was one that came with a free lifetime 3G t mobile connection - does anyone know which one this is?
It could be used to browse wikipedia and buy books, but the wikipedia functionality alone makes it worth it. Basically an encylopedia tablet that you can just leave in your car or whatever.
I used to use an ereader to read manga, but I got sick of squinting at the shit resolution display so I gave up and got a tablet.
Best decision ever.
>>55581789
I had a kindle 3 (I think) with this functionality. It was the grey one with the keyboard and no touchscreen.

Is there any IPS monitor with low to no light bleed. Most of the games i play have a lot of blacks and gaming at night makes it way worse on my old Dell ips monitor.
Is TN my only option?
There's a reason the vast majority of 'gaming' monitors are TN.
>>55581635
Get a TN for gaming. Only get IPS if you do art, photo or video editing.
Also, the light bleed isn't really an issue. Photographs always exaggerate the light bleed effect, but in practice you won't notice it unless your brightness is at 100% (which it shouldn't be anyway).
>>55581665
it is not just games, IPS is also not good if you watch a lot of movies on your monitor then you'll notice the light bleed or "light glow" on IPS monitors which is a lot more noticable if you use the monitor in dark.
Dispense with the front cam, include a keyboard instead.
>>55581620
>Dispense with the front cam
wtf?
The front cam is the important one so you can video call or facetime or whatever
the back camera on tablets is what is completely useless
That guy from pawn stars uses his iPad camera to verify signatures. So you are wrong.
I guess I meant the back camera then, the more powerful one that you'll never take photos with because the tablet isn't the correct form factor for photos. Really wish they'd just improve the front camera and include a keyboard, case or pencil instead.
At least do something interesting like wider spaced twin lenses for 3D maping or similar uses. A phone camera on a great big tablet is just too goofy and doesn't get used.
Drop the feature or have it build on the strengths of the tablet in some way.

Who else fell for the Android meme?
give ios a try and youll know how valuable android is. App performance wise, yeah ios wins that but other than that, ios is fucking terrible.
So be happy youve got android, just look the problem up, pretty sure curry niggers have a solution for it on xda

Hey /g/ help me build a gaming PC.
BUT WAIT!
This PC is just for playing one game. Dwarf Fortress.
Dwarf Fort only uses a single core and famously bottlenecks.
What CPU has the most processing power for a single core?
>>55581493
Intel Pentium G3258, overclock with a budget motherboard.
>>55581493

Fuck off you cunt. Go buy yourself a CPU on the bulldozer archery.
Odds are a Pentium or i3 would work. They're dual cores
I'm really tempted to pull the NSA trigger. should i give into the upgrade before its too late? I found out win8 won't support DX12, and i don't have anything illegal to hide, but it's a matter of principle (especially with how disgustingly forceful they're making the """upgrade"""), and im worried about 10's ability to be compatible with older shit, as well as its ability to disable any pirated content.
on top of that, can i get some pros/cons that have to do with the last 2 points along with anything related?
>>55581437
>meme meme meme meme meme meme meme meme meme meme
It's sad how faggots try so hard to "belong" here. Try having an original thought for once in your life.
Are you doing dx12 for the performance gains? Most games lose performance on the switch to 10. Only the newest games benefit and even then not much. Still, imagine forced updates restarting your computer during a match because you can't turn that shit off in 10.

Hey guys, let's have a home server general.
I was wondering - what is the benefit of an old Xeon processor over a newer low end CPU like the celeron in this?
According to CPU boss the celeron outperforms the xeon. Does that mean it is straight up better?
I am monitoring this thread
>>55581149
>CPU Boss
Don't.
Depending on the server use the CPU might be pretty much irrelevant or of prime importance. "Server" doesn't really say anything.
>>55581149
What are some cool things to do with a home server?
I hope ad blocking gets worse for advertisers . I just love watching then squirm at the fact that I now have the option to not see their trash .
I will blacklist those who block ad blockers . Then I'll find the same information somewhere else . I ALONE decide which websites I whitelist and the ones I whitelist are small websites that provide services that I find usefull.
>We need ad revenue to survive
Then close down your massive fucking website and give up your spot as top dog . I'm calling your bluff, get absolutely fucked .
>>55581098
Why not simply blacklist everybody who uses ads. Stop visiting their website altogether.
>>55581098
What an edgelord holy shit, you should go cut yourself some more
Memers like you are also the same people who whine about clickbait and fluff articles about nothing.
You starve them of money, and then whine when they adapt to survive the altered market you forcefully created.
