Why do people think anyone believes this horse shit?
An article in my local newspaper today said the best computer in the University of Kentucky in 1977 was still using punch cards and paper readouts.
No, it most definitely fucking did not. I can't tell you exactly what they would have had but it definitely had at least a monitor. The damned Apple II and Commodore PET were out back then. A big university would have something far more bad-ass.
Anybody else sick of people saying these kinds of anachronisms or historical revisions to make it seem like technology used to suck more than it did?
Are you retard
Why do you even care?

This one developer a few months ago made a genius program to allow iMessage to run on Android devices, using a Mac's public IP, and a few other things. The catch is, you'll need to have your Mac/Macbook on & running 24/7 for it to work. If you turn off the Mac, the app will cease to work.
Here's the project link, its still a very early Alpha: https://github.com/bboyairwreck/PieMessage
Does anyone think its possible to buy/host a server to use to connect this app to?
Not really worth it just to use an app that doesn't offer any more features than whatsapp or telegram

True, but try convincing iPhone users to switch to any 3rd party app.

I've been having trouble finding a job and I've turned my search to IT, and most everything requires CompTIA A+ certification. When I was at a tech school a few years ago (around 2011-2012), I decided not to go for the certification because I didn't have the money then. I've still got my books from then so I can study that, but what all should I study that's new if I want to get certified? Does anyone know of any good resources if you're only going after an A+ certification?

I don't really care. I just need a job. I have a film degree which would have worked out great if North Carolina didn't cut all film funding and every production left the state for good. shit sucks. I just need a job, I really don't care if I'm just fixing shit or hooking up printers.
Does anyone know which bit controls the dynamic/basic setting for a VHD, or is there anyone on Vista that can create and upload one that's set to dynamic?

I've just acquired an i5 2500k and an Asus P8H61 with a low-tier cooler for £95 together. What do you guys think about that price?
I'm aware that the motherboard isn't able to overclock. I'll be purchasing a better motherboard and cooler when finances permit.
I'll be carrying over my other parts from my old Pentium G3258 build.
>>55578643
The i5 2500k is still a beast of a CPU. That's a good upgrade anon. Also, the price is pretty good.
>>55578643
Get a Z68 motherboard, get either an H110 or a Noctua cooler, overclock to 4.5Ghz and then add an RX 480 and you'll have an excellent gaming rig.

How much of math does one need to know in order to do something meaningful with computer science?
Can you name some areas of math? I'll start with what I'm learning or intend to learn.
1. Linear Algebra
2. Calculus
3. Fourier Series
4. Statistics
Basics of philosophy (namely Logic) wouldn't hurt.

For all the corporate IT people, today I scored a victory for us
>I work in a c# team as a developer
>HR asks for a developer to help with minor changes
>sadly I was selected
>HR is the Wild Wild West full of women and tech incompetents
>they originally ask for production fires to be fixed and I succeed
>slowly the person begins to act as if she's my manager and starts demanding more of my time
>slowly starts to demand extra hours
>devilishPepe.jpg
>explain to my c# manager that HR is not adhering to the ridiculous bureaucratic rules
>explain that all requests should go through him with all the proper paperwork
>the paperwork is so tedious and long HR would decide it's not worth asking for my help anymore
>manager agrees they will feel the wrath of ITIL, I mean, "adhere to ITIL standards as is company policy"
I took what was a tight knit team of HR cat ladies and had endless bureaucracy imposed on them simply to avoid doing their work
No bumps for this? Maybe all the corporate normies like myself are stuck in traffic.

A few days ago I was looking tablets and for some reason apple ipad was always put as best choice. My question is: why?.
No, I'm not making this thread to trash apple. I'm pretty sure there are already 2 or 3 threads about that on the catalog. I ask because I feel in need of a second opinion. what do you use ipad or other mobile apple product for?. I personally have always found anoying the way apple makes mobile
>No SD card

What do they have that a windows or android tablet dont, or what is the reason of why is always chosen as best choice for people dedicated at tech reviews?
>>55577957
There's no need for a file manager on iOS now. You can share everything between apps.

How to track last online status on whatsapp for someone who has this option invisible?
I went to work abroad to earn for our first home without taking 40 years credit. My wife stayed in a country. We never used whatsapp but we both have the app installed. However my best friend who is supposed to help with some stuff while I am absent was always using the app a lot. I recently "caught" by accident my wife online hour after she "went to sleep". She also started "going to sleep" pretty early recently. I need to find if my best friend is cucking me or it was just a random situation. However my wife turned off the option "last seen". I can see her status only whe she is online, and I am working and don't have a time to be in a whatsapp all night. If I can see her online the tracking app would be nothing sophisticated. Is there such app?
>>55577937
>work abroad
>wife stayed
You're definitely getting cucked. I'd say sorry, but you probably deserve it for posting that wall of text.
>>55577966
Well not everyone is born in US or western Europe. Anyway is there app to track it?
>leaving wife alone in another country
You literally told your wife to cuck you.
It's fine, if it hadn't already happened (which it probably did) it would have happened eventually. Just be thankful it's your friend fucking her instead of some total stranger that could have any number of diseases and wouldn't care about your wife as much as your friend does.
