My wifi is slow on my desktop but not my phone or laptop. My desktop has an old (>5 years) pci wifi card. Should I just get a new card? What are some other diagnostics I could use?
Laptop: 11 mbps down
PC: .5 down
other than the wifi card the pc is all new parts
the laptop and pc are next to each other
Are you using a USB adapter or a card?

Can someone tell me how many gigabytes of storage downloading around 160 half hour long videos in 720p will take?
>>55582896
Install gentoo
No, we can't. Way too many unaccounted for factors. Download a few, then multiply the average size of those.
Also, >>55582917.
Depends on bitrate, at avarage 2000kbps, it will take some 70GB
Well my headphones just stopped working in 1 ear they are the only ones i have and i don't have any money to buy new ones what should i do?
>>55582881
Use your speakers.
install gentoo

Is there really no way to fix them?
ITT we discuss cases where the motherboard is mounted horizontally.
>No GPU sag
>No heavy CPU coolers hanging off motherboard
>Correct I/O orientation
Why would you get a case with vertically mounted motherboard ever again?
>>55582876
Because I don't want a case with a gigantic footprint.
I don't own a horizontal case, but if I had to guess the popularity of towers comes from them:
A) Being easier to make look cool/neat/svelte/etc
B) Just kinda disappearing when slipped underneath your desk
It's hard to make a horizontal case that doesn't look fat and awkward. Cubes can work because the height balances out the width and depth.
I personally would love to see a return of pizza box horizontal cases, except this time they should be wide enough to accommodate a full length GPU and a little taller so a normal ATX PSU because fuck SFX.
I have a Fractal Node 605. I love it. Downside is zero area for cable management. You got to get creative with zip ties.
Hey guys,
So i made the mistake of buying a second hand r9 290. I am having problems with the display and wanting to know if this is the sign of a bricked card or possibly another problem.
It wont display bios or post and all i get is this screen.
Specs are as follows:
My specs are as follows:
I7 920 @4ghz
1 x ssd 1x hdd
8gb ddr3
750 watt antec earthwatts
I was thinking perhaps this psu is just not up to the task. Any thoughts?
oh and my mobo is P6T SE
how much did you pay?
seems like a bricked card
>>55582880
150 aud mate.
Im thinking the same.
Has anybody had any luck installing Android 4.4 or higher on an HTC One S, and is it really buggy or does it run smoothly?
Just get a new phone to play Pokemon

It's good homo
>>55582822
I'm poor.
How does Windows 10 break out of a VMWare virtual machine? Microsoft's never ending quest to control all consumer PCs has reached new levels of invasiveness. Reports that it's capable of monitoring and controlling the host machine.
>not installing windows 10 as primary and emulating 7 on a secondary monitor
actually dont do this, it's retarded

What GPU?

That seems rather impractical, how did you do it?

My AMD Radeon r290x just died on me. I want something thats better than it, but still at a reasonable price. I was looking into the MSI GeForce GTX 970, but I want to hear your guys's opinions on this.

For someone who has lost purpose in life and has body injuries and was gonna do something in the health or fitness field, is a career in IT a bad option? i was thinking of going to the community college near me for IT. How b ad of an idea is this? I have a basic understanding of computers and think it would be okay.
>>55582598
story anon
>>55582611
Went to school for 2 years to become a personal trainer, got all A's in school and ended up flunking the cert test twice because I aimed for the highest one in the country, then had surgery because i injured my shoulder, shoulder never healed right and hurts like shit still, gonna see a chiro soon. Wanna get back into training and fitness but i am too depressed and in pain to succeed imo, and I am pretty good with computers so I figured id try this
>>55582598
Tell us your story, an IT degree gets you good work even in third world countries like mine.
I need some guidance /g/...
I've been thinking about switching to Debian on my main desktop which will be replacing Windows 10, but I have a question as to how I can transfer all my files over to the new OS, without them getting corrupted/lost.
I have:
240gb SSD (OS)
1Tb HDD (Random shit/games)
140Gb HDD (pulled out of a DirecTV DVR for shits and giggles)
4Tb HDD (1Tb is full)
and all of them have important stuff that I want to keep on them
All of it will fit on the 4TB, and the 4TB is in an external USB enclosure, so I should be able to just copy everything on to it and move it all over. Will the fact that all my drives being NTFS mess up trying to move them over to the EXT4 filesystem?
>>55582557
you dont' need to do anything anon, linux can read/write to ntfs drives just fine, and leaving it as ntfs ensures that when you take your portable drive with you, whatever computer you end up at will be able to read it.
>>55582589
This is true to an extent. Tools like wine and playonlinux have a hard time working with NTFS drives.
Opie, delete shit you can easily download again. Namely games. Delete everything that won't work, namely games.
Youre going to have to download them again for them to work for Linux anyway. That should free up some space. Put everything on the 4tb, format all to EXT4 and move it back on to the original media.
You really only need what you plan on storing Linux games to be EXT4. Media like video, pictures and text will work fine in NTFS
Make sure you do this or you are wasting a ton of space

Should I buy it?
>>55582497
If you are playing at 1440p 144Hz or 2160p 60Hz,yeah. If not you should buy something cheaper.
>>55582497
If you can afford it, yes.
Though to be honest you'll regret the blower if you're using anything other than a small form factor system.
>>55582497
Slick looking card. 5/5 i would buy it
