To everyone. Marvel, DC and Foxfriends alike (and Sonypeople whoever you are)

Some of you may take sides on these companies, I do not, but some of you do, and there's something I've been seeing a lot of. And that's "Disney/Marvel is manipulating the masses and wants the other companies to fail so they can monopolize the industry"

This could not be more wrong. In fact, it's honestly quite the opposite. If anything, Marvel being a monopoly would be a bad thing for everyone including them. Marvel would love if Fox X-Verse, Sony and DCEU got consistent hits both critically and financially. Oh that's not to say they don't still want to be on the top of the pack, they definitely do. But Marvel actually needs to the other companies to be successful. Why you ask?

You see all this shit? Marvel has a bigger enemy than box office or bad reviews and that's audience fatigue. They want comic book films to continue to be popular in the consciousness but if too many Fant4stics or ASM2s started coming out, even the plebest public would stop caring. Marvel needs the other companies to live so that they can live and so they can make more money. This isn't about sides, this is about the comic book movie genre as a whole. Hell, the Russos even admitted recently that they decided to do Civil War BECAUSE BvS was coming out and knew they had to make something big to compete.

Imagine if what happened to the YA book adaptations started happening to comic book films? Yeah, that's what Marvel would and should be afraid of. So before you start spouting your conspiracy theories about how Disney wants to control all, keep in mind there may not be anything to control if the public stops caring.

So John Ostrander teased this little thing today, which from the youtube short I found seems to be some kind of sci-fi witchy gunslinger shit. With art by Jan Duursema.

I don't know how good their Star Wars work together was but I'm excited as fuck to see Ostrander announce a new original project. Does anyone know more about this?

I've been thinking about it, and I think my favorite part of the superhero movie formula is the opening battle against a ancillary villain, usually somebody with an established grudge against the hero from the previous movie, like Batman taking down Scarecrow in the Dark Knight or the Avengers assaulting Baron Struckers mountain fortress in Avengers 2.

It's those moments that we get to see the characters all in their established world playing the roles of fully realized superheroes and supervillains as a lifestyle. The world isn't in danger at this point in the story, so we just get good old fashioned crime stopping as it should be.

Crossbones was honestly one of the best examples of this concept that I've seen. Him and his mercenary unit, which I assumed was made up of the same people that made up STRIKE in Winter Soldier, all have a history with Captain America from things like their elevator fight with him. You could feel the classic villainous hatred Crossbones had for Captain America, just frothing at the mouth to fight him again. Crossbones knew how Captain America fought well enough to have counter measures prepared, like throwing the sticky bomb on his shield to make him fight hand to hand. We so rarely get to see established heroes and villains fighting. It's these fights that feel like a good episodic issue of a Captain America story before the beginning of a major arc.

Principal shooting for Wonder Woman has finished, at least for Gal, and she'll be off to London within the next two weeks for JL.
What do you expect in terms of trailers SDCC for WW and JL since they should have enough footage for a teaser.

You are in charge of rebooting the DC Cinematic Universe. What would you do?
>retcon bvs out, keep man of steel
>use either gotham or batman begins (but ignore rest of the dark knight saga) as batman origin
>follow up with an aquaman movie, wonder woman, flash, world's finest AND THEN justice league
>hint at darkseid but build him up slowly like thanos in the MCU except only tangentially relate him to the plot instead of having him as a sitting guy behind everything
>push suicide squad up until phase 3 or at least the end of phase 2, so the bad guys can be introduced first
>give each hero a proper origin (remember, origin stories aren't always necessary but in a cinematic universe they kind of are)
>eventually show prequel films with jay garrick, alan scott, etc

Starting to read some 00s Pre-Flashpoint DC, want to to through the major stories and events in release order, up until Final Crisis, and maybe continue up to Flashpoint.

So far this is my list.
