Hello there. I'm new here. I'm 19 years old and I usually go to /a/, /k/, /co/, /pol/ and /r9k/, but the other week or so my dad (who's a pretty smart guy) told me that he's moved some money he's set aside for me out of a shitty CD and onto an E-Trade account. It's somewhere between 15k-20k USD. He told me that he wanted me to be on the look out for stocks that were going to increase in value over time, so I started looking for them. I think I'm good at identifying a safe company (Disney, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, and so on), but I want to know more about investing in the stock market. What can you guys tell me?

What is the /biz/nessman's haircut strategy? My old strategy was get a haircut like every 6 months once it started looking hippie-tier. Robinhood graphs are shit and only show you an average, not true real-time prices. To get Bid/Ask prices and important things like candlestick graphs, you should use a more robust platform.

Lets say your having problems with your health. People instinctively know to either 1) Go to the doctor to get it fixed or 2) Go online and look up how to try to narrow down the issue and help themselves, but with finances everyone seems fucking lost. Why can't they just apply the same logic, sit down and talk to an expert or research themselves?
