Not very. Would need a lot of mosquito spray, though.
>>
Have sprayed pesticide over my backyard for fleas once a year for about 5 years
Have killed countless fish over the years from fishing
Fed tons of rats/rabbits/guinea pigs to my friends boa because the bitch refuses to eat anything dead
I've hit 3 stray dogs and 1 deer while driving at night
And 3 cats I threw at an alligator when I was 10

The bugs could probably fuck me due to size and numbers but the rest couldnt do much that my rifle couldnt take care of

> Go out to get something to eat at 3AM
> Open door, feels a little weird, like something was in its way
> Look down, see weird shape in the dark, turn on phone light, and see a squirrel
> Still breathing but is just laying there and shivering. Covers his face when the light is on him.
> Picked him up and put him on a higher level where he just walked around, tried to jump down, but just went plop onto the floor below.
> Got a towel to wrap him in and took him inside because I didn't want a stray cat in my neighborhood eating the poor thing.

What do /an/? Right now he's sleeping in my bathroom sink (it's been like 9 hours now) and he shifts around occasionally but he's generally pretty listless. He stopped shivering though. I left him a couple pieces of Cheerios but from what I can tell, he hasn't eaten it yet. I feel kinda bad because I think I might've clipped him in the head when I opened my door but I can't keep him forever, especially since I have a (former) stray cat in my house who knows something is up in the bathroom.

Pic related, it's him. Sorry about the shitty quality, shitty phone and shitty phone camera and all.

Other than take it to a vet and spend a fortune. Just leave it alone for a day and if its not better call animal control to come pick it up
>>
If you have any peanuts, try giving it a few, might make it peck up a bit. Give it a little bowl of water too. If you really don't want to keep it, yeah, I guess you'll have to call animal control.

The only animal even close to being this awful are parasitic worms (specifically guinea worms and hookworms)

I live in a studio apartment.
My neighbor lives in an apartment below mine. We live right across the street from a park the size of a golf course.

When my neighbor leaves for work, he just lets his cat outside. Cat chills and plays, and socializes with other cats. Hangs out all day.

When he comes home, the cat is eager to see him, and runs inside with him.

Thoughts on this /an/? He has a collar on his cat, but seems pretty nonchalant about just leaving it to it's own devices outside all day.

I was going to adopt a cat and do the same. Is a studio apartment enough room for a cat? How long do you think I should keep it inside before letting it go out exploring and hope it comes back?

letting cats outdoors is basically taking away around 80% of their lifespan on average.
>>

Is a studio enough space for a indoor cat though? A cat living it's whole life inside a room basically, seems pretty cruel.

Turns out there's a dog-wolf-coyote hybrid that's rocking shit in North America.

Do you know why they rejected you? That might help.

You could try other shelters/rescue groups. Or look on craigslist--often times people having to give their dog away for one reason or another will advertise there. You can even find tons of "free puppy" ads from people who had accidental litters.

Hey /an/. I'm working on a school project that is analyzing the feasibility of a service that helps reduce the euthanasia rate of animals in shelters. I am NOT selling anything or trying to market this service, I just need feedback on this idea and see if it's something we can take forward. Also, feel free to leave comments in this thread. Pic unrelated.

You want to lower the rate of euthanasia in shelters? Get people to keep their fucking animals in their god damned houses and stop keeping pets they can't fucking manage.
>>
>>1987243
i live in chile and it breaks my heart seeing packs of hungry suffering dogs roaming around town.

shelters are a service to society and they need to euthanise animals to keep the population under control. Theres no worse fate for the dog than living in hunger and suffering on the streets, just so a few soft humans dont have to face the harshness of population control.

I live in Ontario, and am moving soon. Because of the layout and set up of my next home I'd really like to do a few European mounts (deer, a ram or sheep, perhaps a pig or horse). But, I'm having a really hard time obtaining them because apparently they need to be licensed. I know when I was a kid my uncles, who were native, and now deceased would make them by the dozen to sell to locals. I even helped in the boil and bleaching process. Does anyone know where I should start looking? I just don't want to pay $600 + shipping on something I use to make free as a kid. I contacted a few friends who hunt but they really have given me empty leads so far.

Not really.
I don't want them for bragging rights. I don't even have many people besides family. It's just a farm house, and I want to go more rustic with some European mounts. Not like I want an over kill of them either. Better use for them and more respectful to that animal then simply going into the trash
>>
Those are almost always going to have a steep price unless you get the animal yourself and set up the mount yourself. You could try second hand stores or other such places online.

Hey /an/, /fa/ here,

Can somebody recommend me a couple of lizards/chamelons that aren't an insectivores? I did a little research but everywhere they tell me if you want a cute reptile you have to feed them disgusting crickets and other nasty, vomit inducing things I wouldn't touch with a ten foot long pole.
Now, the way I see it, the only other options left are frugivores and herbivores, or even actual carnivores, like stuff that eats mice. Anyone got ideas?

>>
Iguanas are herbivores no? Or are they like tegus and need a highly varied diet?

Not that I'd recommend either to anyone without a lot of reptile experience.
>>
>>1985197
awww, he's cute! His skin looks almost like moss on trees.
I'll look into those thanks!
>>1985205
well, I have a tropical freshwater aquarium if that counts for experience with animals? it's 4 years old, very stable. I recently started working, and I really wanna buy a cute reptile with my first or second paycheck.
>>
>>1985205
Iguanas are pretty strict herbivores when they're adults, as juveniles they'll eat insects occasionally.

>>1985194
An option might be a blue tongued skink, they're omnivores which need a varied diet of meat and veg but the meat can be dead, so like minced meat, even eggs.

Why are so many dog owners, who possess a large breed, so spiteful towards smaller breeds?
I own a large breed myself (pic related) out of preference, but I also enjoy small dogs and am in no way spiteful towards them.

Questions that don't deserve their own thread. I'll start:

Is there anywhere I can read about the body language of spiders?
124 posts and 14 images submitted.
>>
>>1982238
I suppose you're talking about the courtship dances some spiders(most notably wolf and jumping spiders) have? Most popular works will only offer brief descriptions, so I guess you'll have to find some nice academic ethological journal that specialises in spiders. You can find some nice recordings of these dances on youtube, too.

My turn: Can anyone recommend some nice articles on eusociality in spiders? I've been wanting to learn about it for a long time, yet can't find much material.
