I'm getting a blue heeler pup in a week or so. It's not my first dog but it is my first Heeler. I've read up on how the breed behaves and such. Any advice or name suggestions?

Make sure the breeder is s reputable one.
You do know how to spot a good breeder, right?

Yes inform us please

My doggy got hit by a car on the really busy street I live on & his pelvis is now broken. I feel so bad because we can't afford the surgery he needs to heal.

The only thing we can afford at the moment is a procedure that might help the broken bones heal in hope of him walking again.

Has anyone here ever done any dog carting? I recently got an EXTREMELY energetic lab and rottie mix but I had a physical disability that makes it difficult to do long walks so I thought this might be good. Also, it looks fun.

The dog is almost three years old, is that too old to train it to do that? He's also well and above large enough to pull me.

And before you say that obviously a person wit a physical disability shouldn't get a dog and certainly not a high energy dog, you are completely right. But circumstances brought the dog into my life and instead of passing the buck and hoping a shelter can find it a home I want to first try to make my life work for the dog.

How huge a maniac do you think the whole town will imagine me, haha?

My dogs cart and love it. I have a millennium mini sulky and it works pretty well but the harnesses are stupid expensive. If I were to buy a new one, I would go with a sacco cart, its 4 wheeled instead of 2, plus it has polk shafts so you have greater control of where you're going.

I love it. My dogs love it. Everybody wins

> How huge a maniac do you think the whole town will imagine me, haha?

I bet everyone will envy you. No being dragged around by your dog for you! Hooray for a nice, light ride.

Thanks anon that was some really great specific advice that I wasn't expecting to get here. I'm really happy to have some specific sulky to google.

Hey /an/ I have a friend who wants a munchkin cat. Do you know if they're deformed inbred fucks like pugs and if so what similar cats do you recommend.
92 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
why do they want one, becides to be a special snowflake

if they really have no other reason then just a DSH cat from the shelter is perfectly fine. buying a cat from a breeder is ridiculous
>>
Health wise, they're not so bad as pugs. They actually don't even appear to have the issues short-legged dogs have with spine. All and all, they're very nearly as healthy as other breeds and quite healthier than some, such as persians.

Ethically, they're actually really problematic. You see the mutation is heterozygous and so this means only 50 percent of all of the kittens will be short-legged in a breeding between two short legged parents. 25 percent of the kittens will die in the womb due to gene lethality. The other 25 percent will be totally normal long-legged average ass cats. You know who wants average cats? Rights we are killing millions a year. Every munchkin breeding produces regular-ass cats that no one wants BUT these breeders want money so they will try to sell them to people as "non-standard munchkins" and these retards try to breed them thinking they may carry the genes but they don't and it creates this whole dearth of normal cat births and we already kill shit tons of those a year. All for a few overpriced squatty legged cats.

So it depends on if that kind of thing bothers you. Just buy an overpriced snowflake pet, well fine, they're perfectly healthy. But if you don't like contributing to shitty breeding practices then do not, just get a normal cat. Adopt some one-eyed shelter cat and get it a nifty creepy devil-eyed prosthesis if you want to be unique. It will cost less and be more unique.

That's the slugflower. It's a common plant native to the entire planet. Because all plants have unlimited distribution.

Why is everyone who wants a plant ID'd retarded?
>>
>>1996859

Not everyone is a botany major, dude.
>>
>>1996862
I think the point he's making is the OP didn't give any info as to location of plant making ID much harder.

Advice on the best way to go about buying dogs from breeders? Using the various pet sites I get a very distinct scammer vibe from every "breeder" I've talked to.

They all send these robot responses asking a bunch of questions about my intent for the dog. And all of the pictures are stock photos that are used all over the web.

What would plants from other planets look like?

If I were a biologist and I were given all of the parameters like "This color sun, these minerals in the soil, this much water, this much space, this kind of atmosphere, etc" it might be possible to guess. And that's assuming alien planets plants would evolve the same mechanism as ours. Chemistry is too creative an engineer for that though.
>>
>>1996358
>>1996450
Right. It is entirely dependant on the environment.

This is the range of the northern pike.
How is it a freshwater fish can live on two different continents an ocean apart and not have evolved?

I know in Britain they were introduced for sport fishing in the 19th century, but there's no way they covered all of Asia like that.

goldfish were introduced in bags and stuff, put in ponds etc. Pike are slow breeding and are big

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone could help me out. Today I found a blue tongue lizard in my yard that my dog had mauled on his head. Is there anything I can do to help him? So far I've cleaned the wound and given him food and water, as well as put him in a tank with some tissues and a tshirt to keep warm. He seems to be blind in one eye as well, but he's moving around a lot more than he was initially.

If your dog got to it then it probably has more broken bones than you even knew existed.
You do not have the right equipment or education to care for that thing in its current state.
>>
give it a soak in warm water for like 10 minutes if it doesn't freak out about that too bad and apply a topical antibiotic like neosporin or triple antibiotic or something. if it doesn't start eating within a few days let it go. look up if the food you're giving it is actually appropriate.
>>
>>1996156
There are no vets open now that I can take him too. Is there nothing I can do for the poor little guy? He seems to be moving about alright but I don't know if they express pain like we do. He was lying on his back but now he's on his feet and waddling around.

Ok /an/, lets say I wanted to live a homestead life, and be reliant on a food garden and animals for food. I need an animal that I can milk. A cow or a sheep? (Don't say goat, goats milk is shitty in my opinion.)

>>
>>1996090
Sheepskin milk is way worse than goats and you need more than 4 sheep, goats can be kept in ones or twos and need less grazing space. Different goats produce different milk as well, plus it makes great ice cream.
>>
Goats will probably serve you better than cows given their gestation period and lifespan but after it's all said and done chickens are based homestead animal.
>>
>Don't say goat, goats milk is shitty in my opinion

Try miniature cattle?

Also what the actual fuck.

How smart are pigs really? Everyone says they're clever but I'm not convinced? Are they clever like rats that cat be trained to go through a maze or clever like Chimps that can figure out how to use tools, or clever like dolphins that can figure out how to rape?

Baby boars are so cute. Like little baby deer with snuffle faces.
>>
Wild boar aren't very smart, even though their babies are much cuter and the adults look much cooler.

Domestic pigs are smart as fuck though. I am not sure why or how that happened.
