Can you guys help me on this one, I'm stuck.

A/B = Q with remainder 21.
A/(0,2*B) = S, with no remainder.
Also, S is a positive integer.

Is it actually possible to derive the value of A from this information?

Fasciculation. Random nerve short-circuits and fires all by itself.

Random fasciculations from time to time are meaningless -- persistent ones in the same place probably need to get checked out, can be early signs of several neurological issues.
>>
>>9146318
As far as I remember, they basically don't happen with active usage of the muscle. The nerves can't misfire if they're constantly set and reset.

Are there any benefits to being wrong?

Dude, you shouldn't ask me about this; I've never been wrong. Ask other people on /sci/ instead.
>>
You can always be wrong with politics, finance, philosophy or religion, lifestyle, ect.

Google didn't destroy anything worth keeping around. Now barflys can have dumb arguments about the tunction of an observer in a closed system vs an argument on if a Hayabusa motorcycle accerlates faster than a McLaren.

One Google is equick to give an answer for is an argument that never should have happened anyways.
>>
One benefit to being wrong is you can later become right. It's all about improvement. For this reason, I intentionally keep the list of things I am wrong about at least 10 items long. Recently someone proved to me that traps were gay. I crossed an item off my list. I now believe that GMOs cause cancer.

should they do earth studies for the purpose of only understanding the earth, like climate change; or should they only make cool shit that flies and study outer space objects?

NASA has funded a few of my research projects, so I am familiar with the funding philosophy.
NASA should fund both of the areas you mentioned and a few more.
They already cover terrestrial studies for climate change, they already design spacecraft, and they already explore space.
In addition, they also fund terrestrial projects that support space exploration missions and science education. An example of the first case is a project that seeks out rocks similar to those on Mars so engineers can test the Mars 2020 rover before they shoot it off. Any number of projects fit under the second case, but in the long run, they want to keep future generations interested in science and engineering.
>>
>>9146181
the USA has NOAA and other agencies that can do the earth only studies.
>>
>>9146199
Which would be fine if the funding was transferred (plus additional overheads) but that's not what is being considered here. NOAA just took a big hit and it's probably going to get worse. This whole "focusing on space" nonsense has nothing to do with exploration, it has everything to do with Republicans defunding climate change research.

Swapping everything over makes literally zero sense, NASA is already the subcontractor for NOAA's space activities. It would just be rearranging the furniture. It's almost as if there is a hidden agenda.

What's a good book that examines consciousness from a scientific perspective? I'm finding a sea of pseudo-science bullshit at best, pure mysticism at worst. What's the general consensus of the scientific community regarding consciousness?

How bright our vision is out of the world? Could we see easily every object in the space which is getting close to the Earth? Can a celestial object(meteor or something else) hit the Earth suprisingly?
5 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>9146100
Yeah there are a tremendous number of people looking up with telescopes and instruments and they can and do track shit like broken rivets from long ago orbital missions.

Probably a zero percent chance of a asteroid coming toward earth unnoticed.

Unless it was moving at relavistic speed was very small and approached perpendicular to the solar plane.
>>
>>9146100
>How bright our vision is out of the world?
Given there are true flat-Earthers, I'd say not very bright.

>Could we see easily every object in the space which is getting close to the Earth?
You'd have to define "easily" and "close," and do you really mean *every* object?
Certainly not every object. Go out and watch a meteor shower. None of those are predicted (except the shower as a whole, and that's because the showers are periodic).

>Can a celestial object(meteor or something else) hit the Earth suprisingly?
Absolutely, yes. Remember a few years back, Chebaylnsklhdfnasf whatever?

Here's a shocker for you: Go to Ron Baalke's Space Calendar at JPL.
www2.jpl.nasa.gov/calendar
Do a Ctrl-F on "roid 2017" Those are asteroids that were *discovered* in 2017. Then take a look at closest approach. If they get closer than 0.000x AU, that's pretty close.
And there's no guarantee that we'd see an interloper coming in from having passed by the Sun.
>>
>>9146100
If the object happens to pass by from the inner solar system (which means it approaches from the sun-side of the planet) it is very hard to see because the sunlit side of the object is facing away from us.

Objects approaching from beyond earth orbit have the sunlit side facing us so they are much easier to see, however space is still very very big and the objects are very small so they can be extremely hard to find until they get pretty close.

First off I'm not talking about the "smart but lazy" meme, I do attend and everything.
I'm actually good at understanding, visualizing, finding general properties and proving them, but whenever there's a test with long, drawn out questions I fail miserably (well, I don't fail but I barely pass).
It's not just in my head either, profs have noticed this and they always ask me what happened when I get poor grades. The truth is I don't know. I can explain stuff to others, and evidently I "see" it better than most (I have no reason to lie on the internet) but whenever I'm faced with a test with a specific function/series/sequence I'm stumped.
Should I just work more and focus on solving specific types of exercises? Anyone know that feel?

Sounds like you don't do enough exercises.

You 'get' it quickly but you don't sit down and do math enough.

Very common problem among math grad students

Yeah but I'm asking because I don't actually feel like working will help me at all.
Granted I don't work much (if ever) outside of uni but I don't think that's the problem.
It's like I lack the ability to apply what I know to be true.
Is this what the HIGH VERBAL and LOW PERFORMANCE meme feels like? Or just brainletism?

You are given a compass, a ruler and a pencil.
There is a line that travels along the X axis.
You must draw a line that touches the existing line at 30°. You are only allowed to draw the 1 line with the ruler and the only reference points you can use to draw on are tangents and touching points. The line you draw must have at least 2 reference points.
You are not allowed use the value of tangents, sines or cosines to reach the value of 30°.
You can use the ruler freely to measure the diameter of your compass.
This is not my homework, just something I thought of in bed.
