My Dad uses his 2003 Ram 2500 as a truck.
It has run flawlessy so far because even damnliar Chrysler made a better vehicle than GM.

>use it for camping and moving shit
So in other words, on about 350 days a year a car would've been just as good.
If self-driving vehicles are about to become a reality then how come truck licenses are still expensive?
I walked into the DMV and got mine for 75$
What do you mean expensive? Classes? Dude if can't drive and need to pay 7,000$ to learn how to than tha has nothing to do with the cost of the cdl itself.
>>16976714
You realise places won't give you a license unless you have proof of those classes right?
>>16976719
You realize that you must be wrong because I didn't take a class. I took my test and got the license. I live in PA I don't know what loopy country, state youre from.

Why don't people ride a motorcycle/scooter to work? Not only do you turn commute/travel into a recreational activity, but it is also a lot more fuel efficient and cheaper.
Pic related my ride, I normally get 50mpg, and it goes up to nearly 70 on freeway. My commute is cut by half, I get free parking, and it is a real chick magnet. Nothing wakes you up in the morning quite like ride on a motorcycle, it is stronger than any coffee.

Calling all kiwifags who have ever imported cars from japan
Lets have a serious thread for once. I have found a nice car I want and I need to know how I am going to get it across the ditch.
First of all what laws are in place for privatley importing cars and what are some effective ways of getting around them?
Secondly is there a company that will specify in retrieving the car from the seller, putting it in a crate and onto a boat that will ship it to my front yard?
Thirdly, what exactly do I need to know insurance wise? Do I tell them at all?
As an overall rough estimate how much will shipping fees cost in NZD?
I live in the south island and the car I am looking at is in Shimane province
>>16976442
Probably should have mentioned but I found the car on goo-net-exchange.com

Bought a cheap manual car yesterday. First time ever driving one. My main problem is I stall the engine when I try to start accelerating from a stop. I either don't accelerate fast enough or I let up on the clutch too soon and stall the car or spin the tires and jump. Is there anyway to quit doing this or does it just require more practice?
Also I'm not going to break something by stalling so much right? Car only has 30k miles and got it for $3000. I'm gonna keep practicing but any general tips? The car salesman drove it like a race car, shifted silky smooth. That's my goal, 0-60 from stop as quick as I can. I know it takes experience though.
>>16976156
Find an amply parking lot and practice.
Start by getting the car moving with o ly the clutch no throttle. Then move on to using some throttle.
Do this many many times till you can start smooth
>>16976156
just requires more practice. As for breaking something since your car is only at 30k the risk of you breaking anything is minimal although your clutch is probably going to get worn quite a bit depending on how shitty you are, but those aren't too expensive so it's no biggie.
What did you buy? that's a fuckin steal
Learn to operate the gas pedal smoothly. Eventually you'll apply just enough pressure to get the revs to about 1.5-2k and be able to lift the clutch slowly. Lifting the clutch isn't very hard, you can do it as slowly as you want. But applying just enough throttle to not stall but to not burn up the clutch upon launching takes a bit of practice.
Keep trying anon.

I got drunk last week and signed up for a mechanic course that starts monday.
Did I fuck up ?
Should I bother going there ?
I will keep a journal on here with updates, much like truckerfag does, but only with wrenches.
Plush side is that I live in a VAG dominated country, so there is plenty of work for everybody

The Civic Si has always been good.
170 ft-lbs/205 hp with that trans is nice, even if it weighs 3000lbs.

Can anyone Kindly red pill me on the Audi RS7?The first time I heard about it was on an article about these guys who blew up ATMs and the getaway car was an Rs7. Originally I wanted a two door high-performance sports car like evora from Lotus or a Porsche but after riding around in a similar vehicle I realize how much trouble it is just as a daily driver so I want a high-performance four door that I can drive everyday comfortably. I was on to the Nissan GTR but it's just lacking in style and spirit. I'm not a fan of Nissan since extensively driving a $60,000 decked out Murano and a top trim altima me I've driven the crap out of Toyota so Japanese doesn't excite me right now.
I have nearly a quarter million dollars in trust coming to me in less than a year.I would comfortably spend up to $150,000.i'm not interested in a lower and Italian or other high and exotic I would rather have something more attuned to driving every day but still being an exceptional automotive experience
Pretty fucking dope, I drive them at work all the time.
Completely tame and comfy when just driving around, feels big because it is, rear seats can easily fit 3 adults, trunk is massive, Audi technology pack is quite good and most of the stuff is actually useful.
When you give it a bootfull though, it's absolutely unhinged. Takes off like a rocket, cracks and pops through every gear, pushes you right back in your seat. If you get the ceramic brakes it stops like hell too. Steering is tight, transmission smooth and ride is very controlled for such a heavy car.
I honestly like it more than the R8, having driven both its twice as usable as an everyday car and feels 95% as fast. I don't think it actually is, but you'd only really notice it if you went head to head on a track.
Is the license plate fucking stuttering?

How important is a knock sensor? Basically just got my car and check engine light was on, code showed a bad knock sensor. Just took out the old knock sensor and there was nothing connected to it. The only thing that could seemingly be connected to it are cut wires in a tube. So replacing the knock sensor won't do anything if there's nothing to read it. My brother says the car shouldn't be daily drive without the knock sensor. So now I have to order the wire harness. Is it okay to drive without the knock sensor connected to anything?
Pic related: looks like tube without connector at the end.
That sounds like a bad idea to me boss.
If you have to, use 91 or 93
>>16974483
The car takes 91 normally.
>>16974469
Wait the knock sensor wasn't connected to the harness because the wires were broken? That's probably why it was showing a bad knock sensor chief. Just solder it back together and see if it works.
