How many people here also unironically like her new song? I normally don't listen to top40 music, but for some reason I like some of her music. I'm honestly surprised by the hate the song has gotten, it sounds the same as her other songs to me.

get a smaller guitar or play something you can play with short fingers.

cmon even women play the guitar you can't expect to just learn in 5 minutes
the movements you need to do to play on the guitar are unusual so your brain and muscles need time to learn, and the brain consolidates information when you sleep

Of course it does, assuming you are not just doing it miserably alone in your room. You have to have a little personality too though to back it up and seeing as you're a frogposter. Well I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.

depends on what you play.

soon you'll grow up and transcend earthly instincts, with shredding monster riffs being the only desire left in life

Does anybody else miss hipsterism? I feel like poptimist ideology has killed the last shreds of a sizable music counter-culture and has convinced for too many music "enthusiasts" that the best music out there right now is the same stuff their 14-year-old sisters have in their Spotify playlist. Even if most 2000s "indie" music was curated by handful of important sites and blogs, it at least tended to reward and celebrate structural or aesthetic originality, at least in comparison to modern "critique". I'm not saying that art is inherently less valuable when it's popular, but it's incredibly disheartening to see this board increasingly become solely /hiphop/ after being here for almost a decade. Even if we previously just followed Pitchfork and RYM curation, it was still comparatively more eclectic.

The only truly "alternative" music publication nowadays seems to be TMT and even that's debatable, and they are still riding the vaporwave hypetrain that should've died out years ago. Is there any music publication that still rewards intriguing, unique, actually independent rock or experimental electronic music? Any today that would dare to give a group like early AnCo, for example, praise?

The Jester Race is the VH1 version of Slaughter of the Soul. In Flames are not a poorly-done, warmed over Iron Maiden or Artillery; In Flames are the type of lame sing-along lite rock that can otherwise be found on the heavier Motley Crue LPs. The closest comparison I can think of would actually be the speed metal influenced Skid Row – Slave to the Grind but In Flames have more estrogen in their bloodstream. Medical literature reports that listeners testicles retreat into the body cavity upon hearing the opening riff. To make an In Flames album one must merely kidnap five relatively sane beer metal fans in Iron Maiden t-shirts, inject them with potent cocktails of various benzodiazepines, and buy them an afternoon of studio time. The Jester Race is what would result. In Flames were not a band who wanted to kill everyone like Metallica in 1983, rather they were the assholes in Animal House with the acoustic guitar attempting to make New Wave of British Heavy Metal music a few years later for born again Christians. In Flames are the Swedish Stryper.

What does /mu/ think of the Sickness in comparison to Disturbed's other albums?

The Guitars and Sounds in this album were fkn awesome.. No guitar solos no overly complex and melodic lyrics/singing..... why does Disturbed desperately try to do EVERYTHING that is NOT this album, in all their other albums? that's what makes them faggots imo

In your opinion maybe, but i find very predictable and honestly, Dan Donegan isn't that good a guitarist to make some good solos. Dave should have put him in his place when that came and stuck to the original formula ... I find myself playing this album over and over again but listening to other Disturbed albums are pure torture. OWWW WAAH HAHAHAH , Dave should stick to being a Mental Patient, not this overly righteous rockstar

this is my favorite album of theres...but i think they had to move away from the sound a bit. they could have easily done maybe one more nu metal albums but i think they were kind of forced to move to more of a hardrock sound in order to survive past the early 2000s. I'll admit disturbed is a bit like ac dc to me. I like their music, and the good music is awesome, but a lot of shit sounds soooo much the same.

And to answer your question they are just trying to mix things up. Guitar solos started coming back at the end of the circa 2010s i think. Shredding started to come back a bit especially with djent shit and metalcore bands either dying out or paying homage to oldschool metal and getting a little more air play ( avenged sevenfold)
