Anne Frank was one of the most unbearable reads I needed to endure.
Boxing is boring
Why can't we have a friendly thread about this book?
Where's that guy who says Witz isn't shit?
Went from 8/10 to 6/10 the instant he namedropped DeLillo and McCarthy for no reason

because it's trash
Can we get a Song of Ice and Fire thread going? Favorite theories? Will GRRM live to finish the series? Can he wrap it up in two more books?
A few points:
>we know it's genre fiction
>we know it's fantasy schlock
>we know it's not in the same tier as Joyce/Twain/Tolstoy/Nabokov/et al
>we know GRRM is a fat hack with shit prose
>we just want to discuss the books somewhere the showfags might not appear to shit the thread up
>inb4 sunset found her squatting in the grass
>inb4 her cunt became the world
>inb4 fat pink mast or constipated fat man
Will bump a few times with images related to the series.

Another OP bump.
Theories that just have to be true:
>Southron Ambitions
>Grand Northern Conspiracy
>The Others mistook Waymar for a Stark in AGOT prologue
I honestly don't see how GRRM will finish it. I think TWOW might come out in the next 2 years, but there's no way he'll finish ADOS.
I want to be scared by reading a book

why did he never get accepted into any publication? dude was one of us and they all just wanted chad writers?
>>9960495
pretty much, the component why his work is powerful made it repulsive for the german literary establishment who wished to exterminate Jews for that sort of deranged thinking
He was published in a bunch of magazines in his 20s and 30s. His first published story was when he was 25 I think, called "Preparations for a Wedding in the Country" in which a man leaves a party and gets a piggyback along a river or something.
Except he did. Kafka was moderately successful. One of his most importang works, The Metamorphosis, was published while he was alive. A lot of stuff published after his death is worse. The fragments of The Trial, The Castle (not sure if correct, Das Schloss) and Amerika were not ready to be published

Daily reminder that publishing without a nom de plume is LITERALLY being a tripfag IRL.
Why do you want to be an acknowledged writer? What's the end goal, making your high school bullies jealous (you think they'll even care or not just find you to be even more of a dork?), getting women (you think they'll truly like YOU more then, and not just enjoy your fame/money?), making money (to spend it on more hot pockets and video games?)?
You're lost. Seeking fame is shameful. Have some pride and integrity you wanker.

Poetry Foundation pays 10$ a line with 300$ minimum. Plus there's difference between being recognized here and IRL. I'll let you guess which one is better.

Whore.
Okay, pay attention.
I am an autistic bastard obsessed with making lists. For the last 2 years I have been compiling a massive list of the Great Writers of the world. I note down all the writers included in the multifarious lists of great writers (in books, articles, surveys, websites, etc.) placing a little mark beside each writer every time they reappear in other lists, thus discovering the most prominent/celebrated writers. If a writer has more words devoted to them in a book, or if their article is accompanied by a picture, I give them extra "points".
Naturally Shakespeare and the Bible are way in front - but there are many surprises I've encountered in my laborious endeavor, which has seen me scour libraries, the internet, my own collection of volumes (e.g. 501 Great Writers, 1001 Books You Must Read; The A-Z of Great Writers; and innumerable Encyclopedias of writers) and book stores. (I have purchased several books simply because they include sections on writers, where great writers are listed or ranked).
NOW THEN. I'm almost done. But I want to give points based on "popular opinion" (ranker.com) and "informed but informal opinion" (/lit/). I've lurked on this board for a long time and have confidence in the literary taste of its frequenters.
So please. Post ITT writers you consider the absolute greatest you have ever encountered.

It feels good to read a book that resonates with you personally and emotionally, especially when you don't expect it to. E.g. The Iliad.
