Hypothetical scenario:

>be you
>be living in *country*
>get annexed by *another country*
>nothing changes
>allowed to keep culture, language and traditions
>invading country has basically the same laws and is relatively the same
>somehow the war was relatively short and not too bloody, for the sake of the example let's say the war was fought with no casualties, and there wasn't much of an economic toll on either side.
>you get some degree of participation on the government, you still get to elect local authorities and you get a presence in the national government in the same level other states/provinces would
>you are not second class citizens, you get the same rights as anyone else, can even be President/PM

Is this wrong? Does it matter to you at all? Would you say that there is justification for resistance? Would you, even if just by opinion, side with insurgent or resistance movements? And if so, why?

Nationalism is a spook. Who governs my country? Depending on when and where, it's the nobility, clergy, or bourgeoisie. Therefore, there will always exist a domination that supercedes nationality. If there is no problem of nationality in this hypothetical situation, why would I have any preference as to whether the people doing this domination share my heritage?
>>
No it isn't wrong and I wouldn't revolt. I would only care if my rights are being trampled or my quality of life takes a nosedive. Nationalism for the sake of nationalism is dumb, there needs to be an actual, real reason for rebellion, a label change isn't one.

What you describe is a very very mild treatment of a conquered nation.I think most of the people would not fight in situation like this.
There would be very little resistance because you eliminated all the serious reasons for it, and even if it happens it would be suppressed not just by the occupier but also by local collaborators who don't want this to justify a worsening of the regime.

In a just a few years most would probably be integrated into the new system and the conquest would officially be described as "unification" and everybody will belive it.

>Would you, even if just by opinion, side with insurgent or resistance movements? And if so, why?
If I had something to loose, maybe, but even so if my life didn't depend on it I probably wouldn't side with them and just think the resistance are troublemakers.

/his/, when did we start homogenizing human knowledge to a singular entity in a linear historical timeline unbiased by culture, race geographical positions etc?

I noticed that a lot of people who like anime, not just on this website, but throughout the internet and IRL lack a degree of self-awareness. They seem to think they are cultured and know more about how life works compared to other people. The worst cases are the "self-aware" anime posters. Who act like they know what they like is shallow/bad but they end up coming off as smug and arrogant.

Why does this correlation happen, /his/?

Was there a time when Russians weren't slaves nor suffered a lot? What was Russia's best and most prosperous age, with it's people being the happiest? I'm a big Russiaboo, but i can't find a time when russians could be proud to be russians for concrete reasons.

Thought this was interesting... historians of antiquity relaying some speculations about the origins of the Jews.

Strabo:

>These districts (of Jerusalem and Joppa) lie towards the north; they are inhabited generally, and each place in particular, by mixed tribes of Egyptians, Arabians, and Phoenicians. Of this description are the inhabitants of Galilee, of the plain of Jericho, and of the territories of Philadelphia and Samaria, surnamed Sebaste by Herod; but though there is such a mixture of inhabitants, the report most credited, among many things believed respecting the temple and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, is that the Egyptians were the ancestors of the present Jews. An Egyptian priest named Moses, who possessed a portion of the country called Lower Egypt, being dissatisfied with the established institutions there, left it and came to Judea with a large body of people who worshiped the Divinity. He declared and taught that the Egyptians and Africans entertained erroneous sentiments, in representing, the Divinity under the likeness of wild beasts and cattle of the field; that the Greeks also were error in making images of their gods after the human form. For God, said he, may be this one thing which encompasses us all, land and sea, which we call heaven, or the universe, or the nature of things. Who, then, of any understanding would venture to form an image of this Deity, resembling anything with which we are conversant? On the contrary, we ought not to carve any images, but to set apart some sacred ground as a shrine worthy of the Deity, and to worship Him without any similitude. He taught that those who made fortunate dreams were to be permitted to sleep in the temple, where they might dream both for themselves and others; that those who practiced temperance and justice, and none else, might expect good, or some gift or sign from the God, from time to time.

>By such doctrine Moses persuaded a large body of right-minded persons to accompany him to the place where Jerusalem now stands. He easily obtained possession of it as the spot was not such as to excite jealousy, nor for which there could be any fierce contention; for it is rocky, and, although well supplied with water, it is surrounded by a barren and waterless territory. The space within the city is 60 stadia in circumference, with rock underneath the surface. Instead of arms, he taught that their defense was in their sacred things and the Divinity, for whom he was desirous of finding a settled place, promising to the people to deliver such a kind of worship and religion as should not burden those who adopted it with great expense, nor molest them with so-called divine possessions, nor other absurd practices. Moses thus obtained their good opinion, and established no ordinary kind of government. All the nations around willingly united themselves to him, allured by his discourses and promises.

Tacitus:

>Some say that the Jews were fugitives from the island of Crete, who settled on the nearest coast of Africa about the time when Saturn was driven from his throne by the power of Jupiter. Evidence of this is sought in the name. There is a famous mountain in Crete called Ida; the neighboring tribe, the Idaei, came to be called Judaei by a barbarous lengthening of the national name. Others assert that in the reign of Isis the overflowing population of Egypt, led by Hierosolymus and Judas, discharged itself into the neighboring countries. Many, again, say that they were a race of Ethiopian origin, who in the time of king Cepheus were driven by fear and hatred of their neighbors to seek a new dwelling-place. Others describe them as an Assyrian horde who, not having sufficient territory, took possession of part of Egypt, and founded cities of their own in what is called the Hebrew country, lying on the borders of Syria. Others, again, assign a very distinguished origin to the Jews, alleging that they were the Solymi, a nation celebrated in the poems of Homer, who called the city which they founded Hierosolyma after their own name. Most writers, however, agree in stating that once a disease, which horribly disfigured the body, broke out over Egypt; that king Bocchoris, seeking a remedy, consulted the oracle of Hammon, and was bidden to cleanse his realm, and to convey into some foreign land this race detested by the gods.
>>
>The people, who had been collected after diligent search, finding themselves left in a desert, sat for the most part in a stupor of grief, till one of the exiles, Moses by name, warned them not to look for any relief from God or man, forsaken as they were of both, but to trust to themselves, taking for their heaven-sent leader that man who should first help them to be quit of their present misery. They agreed, and in utter ignorance began to advance at random. Nothing, however, distressed them so much as the scarcity of water, and they had sunk ready to perish in all directions over the plain, when a herd of wild asses was seen to retire from their pasture to a rock shaded by trees. Moses followed them, and, guided by the appearance of a grassy spot, discovered an abundant spring of water. This furnished relief. After a continuous journey for six days, on the seventh they possessed themselves of a country, from which they expelled the inhabitants, and in which they founded a city and a temple.

Has any philosopher ever made a working model to explain consciousness? I want to know what could separate a person with a consciousness vs a machine that acts and behaves just like it has one.

>I want to know what could separate a person with a consciousness vs a machine that acts and behaves just like it has one.
One has consciousness and the other doesn't. It's as simple as that. Why do you think in terms of what consequences they produce? They are fundamentally different regardless of how they appear to superficial observation. Qualitative differences are just as much to be taken into consideration as quantitative ones if we are to have a complete picture of things.

only in contained environments on a very small scale, such as a couple using punnett squares to determine physical traits of their offspring.

but never has there been a macro-level attempt at wiping out genetic traits, mainly because it'd be a titanic effort to outright control who everyone in a region/nation is having sex with. You could argue Nazi Germany gave it their best shot, but even then people were still going to fuck whoever despite the image of the ideal Aryan that was encouraged in propaganda.

>You could argue Nazi Germany gave it their best shot, but even then people were still going to fuck whoever despite the image of the ideal Aryan that was encouraged in propaganda.

THE THIRD REICH IMPLEMENTED ARISTOGENICS, NOT EUGENICS.
>>
>>2905689

Back when eugenics was popular in the US, the goal wasn't really to "wipe out" any particular trait, but rather simply reduce and contain the growth of certain populations that were considered undesirable. This was usually targeted towards people who suffered from hereditary diseases. Besides that many states had sterilization programs for criminals. In some cases a convicted felon could be released from prison early if they agreed to be sterilized. In other cases, sterilization was simply compulsory for certain types of crimes, especially sex-related crimes like rape or pedophilia.

Just go to any pre-colonial African polity's wikipedia page and look at the sources

A good place to start would be John K. Thornton's Warfare in Atlantic Africa 1500-1800, which you can find for free online

UNESCO's General History of Africa is a very ambitious, very length project but is as close to a comprehensive history of Africa as you can get. It's a little pricey but I'd say it's worth it if you really want to expand on your knowledge
