Why are you not just simply using user as your username on your personal computer?
Because I use "owner"
who cares

What game, OP?
That's nice. Retard.
How the fuck do i get a promotion in IT? I've been doing HelpDesk in a school district highschool for almost 5 fucking years and i have Net+ and A+, but no other jobs are hiring. All i do is help retards fix fucking printers all day and do boring inventory and basic monitoring.
What's your secret /g/?
1. Move to not-shitville not-hickcounty
2. Fake it until you make it
IT are cucks
>>58888957
CS are cucks. Go program some shitty software Pajeet.
I wanna get better at core concepts like text manipulation, etc... which is something skipped over quickly when doing application development in some areas
what would a low level language good for text manipulation / stuff like writing pixels to certain areas, small stuff like that
C is good for that.
It's memory manipulation all the way down.
I don't think you need low-level language to process text.
>>58888762
I wrote my question weird, appologies, looking back on the question I'm not even sure what I meant
>>58888740
I think I'll be picking C/C++ since it's general purpose :)
Old thread: >>58882828
What are you working on, /g/?
>>58888613
"The most powerful programming language is Lisp. If you don't know Lisp (or its variant, Scheme), you don't know what it means for a programming language to be powerful and elegant. Once you learn Lisp, you will see what is lacking in most other languages." -Richard Stallman
>>58888673
*haskell
I have decided to write a *nix desktop framework entirely written in Rust and Golang.
The DE will be free for buffer overflows and memory leaks.
However, writing a window manager for X is not a simple task.#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <X11/Xlib.h>
int main()
{
Display *d;
Window w;
XEvent e;
int s;
if (!(d = XOpenDisplay(NULL))) {
fprintf(stderr, "Couldn't open display and I hate C.\n");
exit(1);
}
s = DefaultScreen(d);
w = XCreateSimpleWindow(d, RootWindow(d,s), 0, 0, 110, 20, 0,
0, WhitePixel(d,s));
XSelectInput(d, w, ExposureMask | KeyPressMask);
XMapWindow(d,w);
while (1) {
XNextEvent(d, &e);
if (e.type == Expose) {
XDrawString(d, w, DefaultGC(d, s), 5, 15, "Can you read me?", 16);
}
}
XCloseDisplay(d);
return 0;
}
^I hope it gives you an impression how unproductive C is.
Which one is more useful to learn as a general purpose scripting, prototyping, and developing interpreted language, ruby or python?
>>58888483
python ofc
popularity and amount of libs is much bigger, ruby is usually used for its framework
>>58888483
This is one of the quickest ways to stir up shit on /g/
>>58888483
Python of science,prototype and script.
Ruby for prototype webdev.
I have a 2001 manufactured IBM ThinkPad T30, and am having trouble booting from a USB in the BIOS/Boot device menu (not windows).
Essentially, the machine does not recognize the USB stick, which really sucks, because the software I am installing only boots that way. Before you ask, USB BIOS support is enabled.
Thoughts?
>pic unrelated
I don't believe T30s will boot from USB... My X30 never did.
>>58888386
It has an option, and some folks on forums are saying that it is listed as an HDD, but in the devices list I only see the internal HDD.

/g/ i need your help i just put together my first computer build ever and it seems none of the fans connected to the motherboard are working. Ive checked multiple times to see if all of the headers were in the right place and even moved them around with still no luck. The Fans in question are the CPU Fan that comes with the 212 Evo thats clipped onto it. A Coller Master Silencio FP 120 Case fan and the GPU fans themselves. All are not spinning. what do?
Specs:
>Maximus IX Hero 270
>i7 7700k
>Asus Strix GTX 1070
>Cooler master evo 212 CPU cooler
>cosair cm650 psu
ive tried messing around in the bios, resetting the cmos and moving every header around to every fan spot.
>>58888072
Send the motherboard back and get another one.
>he bought a 7700k
>7700k
>Hyper 212
You fucked up, probably melted the CPU.
Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.
Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price, or improve specs or build quality.

Will do. I don't think I'll be able to list alternatives though, that's why I like to keep a .txt on the side too.

May I ask why the i5 7400 and not 7500?
Anyway I tried my hand at it, not sure what I'm doing though but here it is so far :
https://fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/pbpTNN
Also, stupid question : is it possible to get delivered all pieces from same seller so I don't end up paying stupid amount of fees? I can't build the PC myself but I really don't feel like having to go to Paris and carry everything by hands, don't want to get mugged on the way.
>I can't build the PC myself
I mean I can.
