I hate that captcha so much. You know the one where after you click the picture of a steak, it replaces it with another picture, and if that one is a steak, you click it again? Had to spend two fucking minutes clicking pictures of steaks to submit a web form. Google needs to put a limit on the maximum number of steak pictures you can be forced to click.

>Much of the Open Source community tries to advertise the community as one happy place to the outside. Where contributions are valued only by their technical quality, and everybody meets at conferences for beers.

>Well, it is not like that. It's quite a sick place to be in.

>I don't usually talk about this too much, and hence I figure that people are really not aware of this, but yes, the Open Source community is full of assholes, and I probably more than most others am one of their most favourite targets. I get hate mail for hacking on Open Source. People have started multiple "petitions" on petition web sites, asking me to stop working (google for it). Recently, people started collecting Bitcoins to hire a hitman for me (this really happened!). Just the other day, some idiot posted a "song" on youtube, a creepy work, filled with expletives about me and suggestions of violence. People post websites about boycotting my projects, containing pretty personal attacks. On IRC, people /msg me sometimes, with nasty messages, and references to artwork in 4chan style. And there's more. A lot more.

Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.

So what do you guys think of rideables? Especially onewheels, boosted boards, and electric unicycles. No "hoverboards", those things are trash.

Trying to decide whether to order a onewheel or boosted board right now. Boosted board seems better and more practical but onewheel just loooks so interesting.

Say we wanted to replace our government with an artificial intelligence as a sort of enlightened despot.
What might the software architecture look like?
Is it within the realm of our current knowledge of algorithms and data structures, albeit exceedingly complex?
Would it ever be completely safe (no doomsday scenarios)?

Lets discuss.

I'm not so sure. In order for the AI to kill us it would need:
A) Direct control over weapons of mass destruction
B) Direct control over machines to keep itself running
So long as we don't implement a network connection between the AI and the powerplants/mines/factories that keep it running, it can't kill us without dooming itself.
