Whats the consensus on this?

I just want a laptop with a quality build and can do some light gaymen for when I travel.

Also, a that doesn't have that shitty gamer aesthetic, I just feel like if I bring an msi laptop into an office, I'll just be treated as a joke.

What if I told you the reason Macs are so expensive relative to PCs is because they need to offset the cost of maintaining a much more robust operating system.

Hey some benchmarks came out for the 1800x getting BTFO by Intel Skylake. How can AMD ever recover?! Nate Silver gave AMD less than 2% chance for success.

It's the other way around.
The difference in the OP pic is too big, I'll believe it when I see it.

Anyone not see how this is a bad idea? Intel is doing the morally right thing in trying to slow down technology and give it a natural pace. If we reach singularity faster then our rate of extinction also increases.

Nice bait. Now shut down the computer and do your reading comprehension homework, son.

The open-source movement in software began as a response to the limitations of proprietary code. Open-source code is meant to be a collaborative effort, where programmers improve upon the source code and share the changes within the community.

Fuck that! Open Source is about maximizing the value of your software when you cannot enforce software monopoly or have to bust an established monopoly.

Can anyone recommend a mechanical keyboard that comes with white keycaps as standard? Looking to buy one as a gift for my father in law. Needs to be UK/ISO layout, not too expensive and numpad included.

It's a blue switch which is more tactical but a bit noisy. You can dim the sound a bit using orings.

tl;dr wouldn't it be better to have cooperation instead of fragmentation in FOSS community?

Why are freetards usually such uncooperative autists that they can't agree on what's the best solution to a certain problem, and then you get multiple competing projects that all have the same goal.

That's not always the case.
Linux kernel is de-facto standard as FOSS OS kernel.
LibreOffice is de-facto standard for FOSS office suite.

But on the other hand you have desktop environments and everything that comes with them (file managers, text editors, window managers, music players, video players....), you have torrent clients, image / audio / video editors, remote-control clients, instant messengers, package managers, even fucking command line interpreters... all of those are examples where you have multiple competing FOSS solutions aiming to provide mostly the same functionality.

Wouldn't it be better if developers of competing solutions stepped together, made a list of features that they want their software to have?
Bonus points if software is modular so that it can easily be modified and improved.

>fragmentation is FOSS community
>linux is arguably the largest FOSS project and biggest software project and has thousands of contributors pulling in the same direction

What fragmentation?

Applications for Desktop Environments can hardly be called "fragmented", first of all only a handful of people contribute to them and secondly only slightly more people actually use them. It's not like there are hundreds of different options, there are like 15.
