CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (<$500) unless G4600/G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>R5 1500x - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you too lazy to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good for higher FPS; may have heat issues
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper/i9 - compute/Multitask/mixed use
Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for desktop stuff and very light game
>1050Ti for low budget. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games; RX560 if discounted <$90
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA/miners buying all RX570s)
>1070 - if on heavy sale-ish
>1080 - 1080p@100-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.

Hdd 2 can't install windows, windows wants to be only OS

never used linux before
figured i would try it
downloaded gentoo
spent about 4-5 hours trying to follow the instructions
gave up after typing commands into some parting program for about an hour or 2
turns out it erased all my drives and i have nothing to go back to
what should i do now? posting from my phone atm, should i go back and finish what i started? can i really let it get away with beating me like this?

I'm a brainlet, but I want to get a CS degree. Programming I enjoy, but I am awful at math. I want to get to at least a Calc 1 level in the next few weeks. I've been working through Khan Academy but there's such a massive amount of information, hundreds of lessons. As I work through, I get the strong vibe that some of it isn't going to be immediately necessary. For example, under Algebra II, immediately after operations between functions and composition of functions, there's a whole section on shifting/transforming/stretching graphs of functions. Cool and all, but I feel like maybe i'm wasting my limited time with it. I don't want to spend a bunch of time learning something i'll probably never use again, i'll probably forget it in a matter of weeks. What are the bare minimum topics I need to master?

Linear algebra was very useful, though.

sounds like you don't really want a cs degree, just the bragging rights. Learn node and jump on the sweet deepMachineDildoingCRUD train and you will be fine
second, learning is a process, you can't compress it into a week, there are no cheat codes. Calc 1 is usually a semester. You will never use it directly btw, it gives you e.g. a foundation to build mental models describing your problem space
