ok /g/, why the hell does everyone say abt building a pc for 500, 1000 or even 2000$, but no one includes monitors, ups, keyboard and mouse. I'm a newfag to PC building and trying to get an estimate abt prices of things, and this pisses me off, especially being a non american
So include those yourself idiot it's not that hard to figure out. If you can't do that just buy a dell.
>>60836927
>but no one includes monitors, ups, keyboard and mouse
Peripherals are assumed to be something you already have from a previous computer.
They often last through several upgrades.
>>60836927
>no one includes monitors, ups, keyboard and mouse
Everyone already have that you fucking retard.

I want to learn more about cpu architecture (i386/amd64) so I can understand /g/'s threads. Where can I start?
> inb4 brainlet
You could read books and wiki articles.
Tbeh i only understood this shit not because i made an active & independent effort, but only because being an EE major specializing in Computer Architecture means that i've spent the last 3 years learning about this stuff,

Thank you anon
no, they'll probably look worse because accurate color mapping will generally be less saturated and lower contrast than defaults. these pucks are for artists.
>>60835315
I can't say with any certainty myself for the ColorMunki Smile06.
I will say this though, for the love of all that is holy, do not buy anything that cannot be used with ArgyllCMS.
I used this video with a Spyder3 Pro like the user in the video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uDPEPQ8H2g
It's not so much that it will make movies and porn look better, it's supposed to help you compensate for inaccurate colors and turn a monitor connected to your PC (which is running the .icc profile it creates) display accurate colors.
I don't regret my purchase of my Spyder3 Pro, personally, although I know many people don't give a fuck about spending $100 just to make their monitor "look right".
Also, if you'd rather hope that your monitor's variance isn't high, it's also possible that people have used professional color calibration tools to calibrate your model of monitor before.
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/icc_profiles.htm
If you find your monitor there, try using the ICC profile + OSD settings they have to see if your monitor looks any better. If it's good enough, don't buy a color calibrator. If your monitor isn't there (because you got a cheapo or non-name-brand panel), or you think you can do a better job with calibration, then it might be worth getting one, particularly if you have lots of displays.

All you people shitposting about AMD this Intel that when you've overlooked the real winner all along.
Cheap secondhand xeons.
Go to fucking ebay and pick up a E5 2690 v1 which performs better than the stock 1700 for half the motherfucking price and has S2 support.
And don't forget 64GBs quad channel of DDR3 at two dollars per gig ECC memory on a cheap ass supermicro board that will guaranteed future proof your power build.
>>60834273
>>60834345
make a build and post links or GTFO.
The issues of xeon builds is motherboard support. Yes 2nd hand processors are cheap as fuck but good luck making a good build unless you have that "one" motherboard that is discontinued. I looked at that prospect some time ago and realized it's only cost effective if you have the right parts.

FLAC is pleb class! Real audiophiles only listen to vinyl in an anti-gravity chamber using a quantum scanning turntable and bioengineered speaker pods that emit pheromones that convey the essence of the music!
With each play vinyl slowly degrade, and with each play the quality of your recording decreases. This finite quality inherent to analog media strikes a chord with humanity to not take life for granted. For we too are analog.
>>60834223
I don't understand, is this a nerd shaming article?
Because they're the ones writing the article on a nerd audio format.
>>60834223
For the last time, FLAC exists for archival purposes. Anyone who listens to FLAC files on their mobile device using headphones, even excellent ones, is either a fool or too lazy to transcode. However, this does not mean that FLAC is a useless meme.
