most reasonable explanation is you might be developing a dis-associative disorder. people who go through that often experience periods of derealization where it feels like the world drops away, and depersonalization where you feel a disconnect with your sense of internal identity.

the closest I ever got to something like that when I was a teenager I took a excessively high dose of DXM salts that caused a disassociative episode. People who take too much ketamine often report similar experiences.

I became completely detached from my body, my thoughts became extremely fragmented and it was like being sucked into a vortex and dropped in a black box. People who do disassociatives chronically often report abduction experiences or sensations of contact with faceless external forces. Drugs + prolonged disruption of sleep cycles = aliens. Some people who experience a lot of trauma early on go on to develop dis-associative disorders.

In retrospect I would not recommend it to anyone, it was really distressing and unpleasant.

Well there are many different kinds of meditation out there, I'm only well versed in the art of mindfulness meditation. If you want help with that I can gather some resources for a beginner. Just ask and I'll make a second post.

Mindfulness is well documented in science and was shown to work. It is effective and scientifically proven to work, something that can't be said of other kinds of meditaiton like for example, chakra meditaiton.. Chakras are part of your (by science undedectable) energy body. The goal of chakra meditation is to open those knots of energy to allow for an optimal flow of energy through your body. You kind of have to believe in this undedectalbe energy body and in those undedectalbe chakras for it to work I guess.

Marseilles is the original Tarot that has served a great ammount of others, including Rider Waite. I mean not that awful reproduction you have posted, but the original woodcut of the Tarot of Marseille, restored by Camoin-Jodorowksy.

The Tarot works through a network, a mandala of signs and symbols. These symbols are not fixed, no image lives forever and you can certainly discover a lot of things by looking at different Tarots, even the cheapest deck can teach you something of it. But the difference between the Tarot of Marseilles and others is that Marseilles preserves something of the medieval pictoric quality that allows it to be more versatile.

To describe the surface of a card is easy. The fool is a man close to a cliff, his things above the shoulder and there is a dog there to. But in the Marseilles, there is a reason the Fool is going to the right (the future, based on the western reading of a text), there is a reason for the stick being above his right shoulder and "cutting" his head, there is a reason for the dog being cut in half in the image, for the number of bells, for each one of the 11 colors used, and how those relate to the rest of the deck. All of that is lost in Riders and in many other Tarot that simply reproduce the description of it (guy next to cliff with dog) and don't worry about the symbolism of those minute details, only concerned with making the image look pretty.

The Tarot of Marseille has a great deal of ambiguity too, with bizarre places, things you don't know if are pieces of cloth or of skin, abrupt color changes and details. They are not mistakes, they are not to be dismissed, they offer possibilities of interpretation and come out as barriers that divide a superficial reading for a more in depth one, forcing the reader to pay attention to it.

A lot of people seem to miss this level of interpretation, just thinking of the things assuming any other representation would serve the same.
