It's 2025. Pokemon are real... sort of. Thanks to the success of GO, Nintendo and other companies developed a special kind of glasses that lets you see Pokemon in the real world, exactly like the interpretation shown in the first Pokemon GO trailer. You buy Pokeballs in real life and throw them, a normal ball costs 5 dollars, while a great ball costs 20 and an ultra ball 30.

Pokemon are scattered around the world with types and lore dictating where they're exclusive to. Caterpies and Bulbasaurs in forests, mudkips and seismitoads in swamps, etc. Legendaries are scarce (as in 5-10 in the entire world) and live in harsh environments like mountains and dense rainforests or even the Antarctic. Some are one-of-a-kind like Groudon and Kyogre reside within volcanoes or in the deep sea. And others are just uncatchable like Arceus and the Creation Trio.

Battles are in real-time like in the anime, but the mechanics remain mostly the same. Although some tournaments (like Smogon) impose a turn-based format, among others. EVs still exist. IVs too but they can't be changed or seen, competitive breeding is pretty much useless because stats can't be seen at all except a percentage of your Pokemon HP.

Each Pokemon has his own personality and desires. You'll be able to speak and interact with them, but obviously be unable to touch them in any way.

Due to how widespread these GO Goggles have become, most people on Earth have a pair and become Pokemon trainers. Tournaments with high money prizes are held, schools are openned up.

All of this keeping in mind that real animals still exist, so exploring dangerous places like the Amazon rainforest and the Sahara desert may be rewarding for high-levelled and potentially high-IV'd and legendary pokemon but the environmental danger from the weather and wildlife has caused and will cause plenty of deaths.

Has anyone been successful with a Trick Room OU team? I don't see how you can exploit it that well, considering they aren't that many mons that have synergy AND have shit speed along with good attacking stats.

When are we gonna learn about Version Exclusive mons for Sun and Moon? I'm leaning towards Sun at the moment but depending on what else is gonna be exclusive to Moon I may change my mind. Unless they're going to let you have access to every new Pokemon except cover legendaries or something, but that seems unlikely. It's kind of odd we haven't heard anything about version exclusives yet and we're only 3 months out from release.

Try to complete pokemon the right way:
>Build a team of six
>Spend time equally training each of them
>Grind on trainers and hordes and keep EXP share off
>All pokemon at similar level, 25-30
>Next gym leader is STILL 5 levels over all 6 pokemon despite the mass training

Try to play pokemon the wrong way:
>Get starter
>Get 3/4 shitmons
>level only starter
>get to gym leader and be 10+ levels over
>Ace every gym by brute force

if you could name one pokemon, then what would it be?

In Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire's Delta Episode, it's speculated that there are multiple universes/timelines - most notably, one with mega evolutions (Gen 6) and one without (1-5, though some people theorize that 1-2 and 3-5 may be their own as well). At the moment, it seems as if Alola will not have Mega Evolutions.

Assuming this theory is true (and for the sake of a fun speculation thread let's say it is), what IS the state of Kalos in universes without mega evolutions? A large portion of the history and also the geography revolve around the existence of megas, so how different is it in these universes? Does it even exist?

Speculate below. Feel free to post any other timeline / alt universe based speculations you've been thinking about as well. This in particular has just been sticking out to me because of how many people seem to think that you're going to travel to Kalos in Gen 7.
