I just want to use some ice-types but Game Freak always stick them at the very end of the game for no real reason. I really wish that Game Freak would just abandon the experience bonus for traded Pokemon but I can't imagine that they'd ever remove a mechanic that makes the game easier.

Just trade them as eggs, that's what I do when I want to use something interesting.
Sure, takes the time to hatch the eggs. But after that it's not different at all to the standard experience bar the interwting mons.
Also, you get the added bonus of egg-moves, if you so desire. I used a Nosepass in B2 in one of my runs with Rock Blast because of it, pretty fun and useful.
