>little sisters teacher told her she had to write a paper on Global Warming(due this Monday)
>says her teacher is very adamant that Global Warming's one of the worst things in the world and deniers are ignorant to facts
>would really love her to argue that global warming is a good thing, or that it's not caused by humans
>can't find anything legitimate that says global warming is not a real thing
>there's basically nothing that points to anything else or refutes the evidence of carbon dioxide, so I don't understand why there are so many people who say otherwise.
Am I missing something?
Either deniers are all just cucked by oil companies or liberals are just using 'big oil' like they use racism. Just scream racism or big oil if anyone disagrees with them?
Anything convincing that would discredit the warming theorists or point toward it being anything else? Even something that creates legit doubt about it.
Can /pol/ red pill me? (pic related-its her instructions)

there is no such thing as global warming, it's called climate change
it occurs naturally with the influence of the sun, jupiter+saturn, the earth's tilt.

When Portal first came out I was fucking obsessed with it. I wanted to work in a lab like Aperture, and i started getting interested in Physics (before playing that game I had wanted to be an illustrator). Now I'm getting my degree in Physics and Math. How about you, /sci/, what started your journey?

When I was younger I pulled my pee pee a lot, one day mommy caught me and said that if I did that too much I'd go blind, ever since then I've been worried about going blind (since I never stopped) so now I'm studying EE and I'm going to move into computer vision.

What are examples of things in mathematics that appear to be "obviously" true but in fact aren't?

>>8119265
the equation [math]x^n + y^n = z^n[/math] has no whole number solutions for integers n>2.

(Seems obvious, but isn't)
>>
>>8119279
uh wasnt this proved to be true, though
>>
>>8119279
Almost surely the "but in fact they aren't" was not refering to the "obviously" but to the "true".
That's what you get if yoy're not communicating in first order logic.

It's not going to work the way they and others are attempting.
Self-awareness developed after basic input, output, storage, processing and referential relationships.

The problem is that they continually try to bypass the annoying mid stage of organisms, the referential relationship and complex pattern recognition and interpretation... and they skip to syntax and image recognition.

If an AI can't even recognize what it is or at least what belongs to it and what does not [survival programming], then all it's going to do is perform parlor tricks no better than an automaton.

I think what you're proposing is currently too computationally intensive to be practical. I don't exactly agree with the details of your argument but I agree with the spirit of the argument in general.

Ask your stupid questions here.

Here's mine: Let A be some finite set and 1_A be a mapping from set A to set A. I want to show 1_A (the identity mapping on A) is an isomorphism.

An isomorphism is defined as: gof=1_A and fog=1_B for f:A->B, g:B->A.

I need to find the inverse of 1_A which I know is 1_A but not sure how to formally prove it.

I was thinking of saying f:A->A: then I_A o f = I_A and f o I_A = I_A but I don't know if this is right. Can someone help?

well at least the question belongs in the thread

1_A o 1_A = 1_A
I don't know what more you need really

Why is heroin today sold in powder form when it used to be sold as a dapper liquid? Is it just easier to transport this way?

Also why the fuck did Bayer claim that heroin was less addictive than morphine? Is it true? Or were they lying for profit? Or did they just conduct shitty study?

Heroins the best drug for real though.

Simple euphoria with the tradeoff of not being able to shit or cum while high, no long term side effects besides fantasizing about its effects.

reminds me of a modern situation
>-Sackler family of Purdue Pharma invents the concept of drug advertising and the infomercial
>-Sacklers buy up respected medical journals plugging their drugs while pretending to be empirical science. Started with Valium ,which was the first 100 million dollar drug.
>-Sacklers bribe FDA doctor in charge of OxyContin by giving him a comfortable job right after approving it.
>-Sacklers set up bogus "pain advocate" groups to start making lists of doctors refusing to give patients OxyContin for relatively minor ailments.
>-Sacklers send out salesmen to pester and persuade doctors.
>-Sacklers make $35 billion, three executives from Purdue Pharma are convicted of fraud and a million other felonious charges in relation to OxyContin in court, but only have to pay $645 million.
>-Sacklers target rural doctors.
>-Sacklers intimidate last few doctors refusing to prescribe their poison to just anyone by putting them on boycott lists through their proxies. Eventually they bribe medical boards, to threaten doctors guilty of "inadequate pain management" with taking their licenses.

they're only good in large amount.
you don't excel in something by practicing once a week.

I think that proves that videogames raise intelligence. Pretty much case closed.

Is Medicine Science?
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>8122840
No. Yes. I mean no.
>>
>>8122840
It's both science and applied practice of the scientific discoveries.

In medicine some people can take the vocation of medics - and use the existing medical data and researches to help others, even have a career out of it.

There's also research in medicine - some medics do both - especially surgeons.
>>
>>8122840
Define science : the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.
Medicine adheres to this, thus medicine is a science.
