It's been five days since the fight at the Arena.
For most people, including you, the days flew by rather quickly with nothing interesting happening.
But for Alex it was a rollercoaster of emotions.

At first she was furious about her son going off with Hueco Mundos equivalent of a serial killer, then she was in a state of constant panic about the wellbeing of her baby and finally after realizing that the relative peace and quiet without Dante isn't so bad after all she began relaxing.
Just in time for the inevitable return of her son.

Without any fanfare the three arrancars arrived almost without notice, bypassing all the patrolling guards and casually jumping over the protective walls.
Only once inside the city were they noticed by the folks and things started to get noisy.
But before all that could really get to you Dante just casually opened the door and stepped in.

''I'm home.''
He spoke without muh enthusiasm, as if he just came back from an evening walk.

''Welcome back Dante.''

''Hey grandma, is mom around?''

But before he got an answer Alex rushed down from upstairs and jumped on her son, wrapping her arms around his neck.
''OH MY BABY! YOU'RE BACK!
Are you hurt? O-or hungry? How are you feeling?''
Alex bombards him with questions.

To everyones surprise, even Alex', Dante simply hugs his mom back and speaks to her softly.
''Don't worry!
I'm fine.''

You look up from your newspaper and put aside your reading glasses.
''Tia... I don't think that's my grandson...''
But she shuts you down by giving you a weak hit on the head for ruining the moment.

Dante then sets down his mother on her own feet and walks up to you and sits down on the couch, leaving his bewildered mother behind.
''Anyway, what's up?
Did I miss anything?''

''No. Not really.
How did it go?''

''I don't wanna talk about it.''

''That bad?''

''No.
On some level I even enjoyed it.
But over all it's just not worth talking about.''

''Oh...
Okay then.''

He just stares at you blankly.
''What?''

''Nothing!
I just... didn't expect an answer like that.
I was expecting a few cocky quips and sarcastic half answers.''

He shrugs at that.
''Well... I just don't feel like it.
But if you're really that curious I might know just the thing.
Dad called me on my phone, said it's time for our regular visit to Karakura Town.''

''And... you're not complaining that you have work to do even though you just arrived?!''

''I guess I'm just in the zone right now.
Hell, I might even go as far as to actually give proper training to those kids.
Which might involve me showcasing some of my progress...

Carefully making your way down the hill, the sound of a heated argument could be heard before the sight of the flags come into view. As you get closer you realize that “the flags” were more like “a flag” with small crowd sitting by arguing, Argenta being among a few familiar faces that you could recognize.

Cautiously making your way closer, you try to make sense of their debacle.

“-got swallowed up for this!”

“-make me fight you for it!”

“Everyone let’s just stop, and settle down.”

Many more things were yelled, screamed, and shouted; even a few weird insults you’ve hadn’t heard were uttered. If they kept this up, they’ll attract more than just Grimm in these woods. You can just feel your grip tighten around Hexenbessen, as well as a few unwarranted gazes from the foliage far behind you.

“I bet we can take the flag while they’re arguing.” One of you teammates states, “At the rate they’re getting to know each other, they’ll be here for a while.”

General rules:

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as circumstances warrant.

Combat mechanics involve three rolls of 1d100, taking the best, and using the base accuracy and crit ranges of the game, roughly, but the 'turn order' will be more like the anime, where sometimes you can do a few moves in a row or be hit by a combo of moves yourself, all depending on circumstances. Stronger moves tend to take more time and have more cooldown than weaker moves, so beware of that timing. Speed is more important for closing ground, intercepting, and other things and doesn't necessarily mean going first.

Call me out on a mistake and receive a suggestive picture, mostly likely a butt.

“Hana!”

You run out to her, but the Chinchou sparks at you. It looks more scared than anything.

The Seel all whip their heads towards the danger, and your pokemon are looking too. Keira’s Nincada climbs to the top of her head.

Hana, with a hurt and stunned look on her face, falls over onto the sand. Her torso, head, and normal arm flail but ultimately can’t help her keep her balance.

Keira takes an unsure step towards Hana. Then another. Chinchou hasn’t noticed her yet.

Chocolate as hard as metal and hard pastry creak and groan around me as my massive moving castle continues its march slowly, I can feel it moving under me, the collums and pillars of jello and gumdrops jiggling as I turn to look at them. I take a deep breath of sugar filled air and sit up, Lifa clinging to me, still sleeping like a rock as the morning sun falls on me and my daughters. Glancing around the room for a second or two, I frown when I notice Iris isn't by my side or anywhere I can see her. Where is she then? Didn't she sleep next to me? if its morning she should still be there but...she isn't. I frown up bit deeper, spreading my wings and Stretching. Alith Yawns, leaning against her mirror axe, still sitting where she was guarding me and her siblings all through the night. I could probably ask her where Iris went off to...but I have a feeling she fell asleep before Iris woke up to do whatever it is she's doing.

I yawn, right as I finish stretching all the aches and stiffness out of my body, my one eyed daughter still hanging around my neck. She has a surprisingly strong grip, guess I've never noticed it before since she's....well as light as a feather most of the time. Now how am I going to get her off of me without waking her up.

I scratch my head, trying to figure out how I'm going to move her without disturbing her. How'd she even end up here anyways? Guess she must've snuck up here sometime last night. Hmm, well she was wandering around the castle before I fell asleep so...that's probably it. But how the hell am I going to get her off of me.

I sigh heavily, feeling a little annoyed despite how cute it is. Because I have things to do today, I can't just lay here with a former angel using me as a pillow all day. Even if she is my daughter.

A serpentine hiss echos through the massive, gold and gem filled chamber, followed by an angry rattle as Maya darts through the hills of valuables and hides behind me, wrapping her tail around my waist. She hisses, her ruby eyes glaring at something in the dimly lit room. I glance up, and see Kelly crouched over one of the piles of gold, her icy blue eyes glaring at me as she just sits there, watching me.

Before I can open my mouth to ask her what she wants and why she's out of her room, the intercom crackles to life. And Iris's adorably monotone voice comes out of it.

"All hands, prepare for docking procedure" She says flatly as the machine made of candy under my castle stops moving, and the castles shakes as it all slides to a stop "We've encountered a bit of an....obstacle, but good news, you might be able to stretch your legs for once, a few of you at least"

Galina's flames creep around me, as she slowly shapes and forms her body, sitting in front of me as she grows larger than Alith.

Altea flips her hair over her shoulder. "Well, Yuu said that I had a fan, so I figured I'd come and meet her" She says.
"Was it worth it?" You ask.
"For the look on that girl's face when I landed? Absolutely" Altea says. "Why, I haven't gotten that sort of reaction since I went to recruit Marybell"

Marybell straightens up and blushes. Altea takes notice and smiles.

"But that's a subject for another time" Altea says, as she spreads her wings. "You all have preparations to make, and I believe your break is almost up Marybell"
"See you later" You say.

Altea nods. "I expect to see you before you depart" She says.
"We'll come by" Derrick says.
"Very well" She says, as she beats her wings and rises up in the air. She continues upward until she's reached a certain height, then glides off towards the barracks.

"Having wings must be super convenient" You say.
"You mention that every time you see her fly away" Derrick says.
"Because it always looks really convenient" You say. "Even now, when I have a super fast cart... I still have to go around all these dumbs buildings..."

Cheska pats your back. "There, there. Who knows? Maybe the guild's got some kinda personal skyship they'll lend you next" She says.
"That doesn't exist" Derrick says. "Don't get his hopes up"

"Dang..." You say. "That sounded kinda cool..."
"Aanyways" Madelaine says. "We've got some time to kill. What do you guys wanna do?"

Once upon a time (about three years ago), in a place far away (well, a few letters away on /tg/), there was Double Cross Quest, run by DXR. It was funny at times, interesting,, had a following, a kerfuffle, lots of things.

Most importantly, the lack of an end (that I could find) inspired me to do this. If successful, I’m going to try and show up around 5-6 on Thursdays for the next installation. If not, well, it’ll fade to the bottom of the board and then off the archives. Everyone, I welcome you to

Double Cross - The Quest for More Supply Points.


Today was the same as yesterday. Today will be the same as tomorrow.

That could change as soon as the day after tomorrow (but more likely sometime next week); you can put behind you the heady mix of pride at your daily accomplishments, sorrow at being forced to remember that (essentially) your best friends are in enemy(-ish in one case) camps, and amused-frustration at the works and resulting cleanup of your underlings that comes with a field promotion to high command.

Not that you ever call anyone underlings to their faces (or behind their faces for the two Neumann you’ve got), but sometimes they do deserve the name, or so the past three weeks have told you.

But most important than taking time to muse on mistakes is arranging for medical experts to be brought in; when the Colonel comes back you can put behind you the code name of “The Decrowned King,” hopefully forever, and more treatment will help that happen faster.

And aiding your hopes of minimizing time acting as Decrowned King, all of the major underling-related mess for today has been cleaned up by lunch (mostly speaking metaphorically), the puazi incident of two days ago is still keeping the important FH cell quiet, and you got to shower and groom before your meeting with Yakuza kingpin and Exile Overed Daidouji Ichirou.

(You’re counting that last one on technicality, he wants to hire you for your personal power, not the power and status of acting chief.)

He knows that his very recent, very mild awakening puts him in the bottom of the mid-card, so his attempts to recruit you or your brain tank are going to be soft and short and probably over once the Colonel is back in.

He seems to lean more on your friendship with his ‘son’, Ken, to do any real negotiations, despite the liberties you tend to take, hospitality-wise.

Although you shouldn’t be so sarcastic about calling Ken a ‘son.’ Sure, the birth involved making a deal with a Gjaum notorious for twisting wishes and/or asking a too high price. Ichirou has raised Ken perfectly like a normal human child instead of a superpower-created-and-history-partially-backfilled mass of Renegade that looks like a person most of the time.

Your ‘work’ pager vibrates, telling you that it’s Irene, or that somebody has gone mad and used the pager they stole off your sister.

TWO people, at most three, other than Irene know the number. And of those you know have the number, you can name them and the number of times they’ve used it. Dad’s investor-cum-foreign-negotiator friend David never called it after the first two tests, trusting that the phone company would have your cell working in a week of the proposed negotiation closing date.

The Higharolla used it once, because he didn’t actually believe that you had a pager and knew how to use it. You surprised him a second time that day, only unlike the blackjack and poker wins no luck was involved.

And if a third person in the whole of this floating city knows the number, then they have never used it.

Still, the news is nothin’ unexpected. Just another meeting to talk about the family business and how the Higharolla’s kids keep hitting on her. (A thing for which you will ever be grateful, because you’d never be able to keep from laughing at the brother and sister duo’s really bad pickup lines.)

You don’t get to share as much as you’d like during these meetings, but at least Irene knows you have something to do with the stranger incidents and the stopping thereof.

Even with your raised position, no, especially because of it, you can't get her clearance unless she also awakened. Your father would probably never get clearance, even if he could radically reshape the world.

Unfortunately for your plans to coast on until the meeting, the brain tank alarm sounds, telling you that your two main thinkers and form forwarders have found a problem they feel 75% confident will both fail and have horrible consequences if you don’t show up.

You're pretty sure they're taking advantage of Colonel’s hospital stay to send you out for minor stuff, but the reduction in paperwork keeps you sane enough to not particularly care.

In this case the alarm is a call to:
>make it look like the statue of CaTaffy hasn’t been ‘stolen’ with your Morpheus based Mech-making. A temporary replacement is all that’s needed, but like you’re going to miss this chance.

New players are always welcome!

In this quest you assume the role of an aspiring student who is about to enter the Mageknight Academy of Madrid. You must hone your skills, make some friends (and perhaps also some enemies) and fight battles in order to prove yourself worthy of graduating as a fully fledged Mageknight! Each year (every 100th turn) your character will be tested by the academy to see if your character is progressing well and meeting the Academy's high standards. After the 3rd year your character will head off into a their first mission for a final test.

How to Join:
New players must fill out their character sheets. The sheet must include the following information:
>Anyone can join at any time. Latecomers and laggers are given bonus action points to catch up with the other players.
1) Your character's full name
2) Your character's backstory, appearance and any other useful information.
3) You are given 3 Skill Points. Choose 1 starting spell and 2 other skills or spells.

How to Play:
1) Each turn you will be given 2 [Action Points]. Post your character sheet and your chosen actions along with a 2d100 roll.
>Normally your roll must pass the [Difficulty Challenge] of 25 in order to succeed.
>Getting a 10 and below is a [Critical Failure] while 91 and above is a [Critical Success].
2) All players must wait for the "TURN GO" post before submitting any actions posts. After which you must post your actions only to that post.
3) After all actions are processed and a new turn begins, update your character sheet.

Spellcrafting:

Combat:
1) Post 2 actions like you normally would. Your opponent will roll their own 2 actions.
2) To defeat your opponent, you must overcome their defensive or evasion roll with your attack roll and vice versa.
>If you have not rolled an evasion or defensive roll then your opponent must pass normal DC to hit you and vice versa.
>If both combatants attacked successfully then it's a Double KO.

The ship rocks in the freezing cold waters of the open sea. The sky churns with the wrath of the gods, and splinters of wood are sent flying in every direction, the guttural shouts of the captain sending the crew into frenetic flurries of activity. The deck is anointed in salt and wash over and over again, and the deck begins to flood with the water.

The cries of the sailors rise in the cacophony of the air, and it seems as if the gods themselves are tossing the vessel. In the central pit of the deck, lies a woman, with long brown hair caked in sweat and salt, heaving and bellowing in pain, a few, hardened and sun baked old crones standing around her, along with a solid man, with the sense of Udimar blood upon him, through the locks of black hair falling from his head, and the long, bronze shield upon which he sits.

The woman heaves for a final time, her cries being drowned out by the whipping wind and rain. Your newborn ears are christened by the roars of Wulfgar and Torrhen, the brother gods of Sea and Sky, in their ceaseless battle. You are confused, your infant mind unused to the swaying of the world, and you begin to weep in dismay.

You see a man, your father, maybe, his eyes look at you with love, but are stained with sorrow. He holds you close, and you are comfortable, against the soft cloth under a leather cloak. You weep still, but the warmth consoles you, even as the chest which you are held against is wracked with your father's sobs. Something is wrong. Your infant body cannot turn to see, but an emptiness fills you, and you know, she who begot you, is gone.

The bony fingers of the crones reach for you, pulling you away from your only consolation, the three women looking over you and examining you for god-marks.

You don’t know how you’re going to move the unconscious one, though. Sresh are head and shoulders taller than you and no doubt are twice your weight. You flick coms, “Vasquez, I know it’s not your shift yet but I need bodies down here to move bodies.” Your visor flashes an affirmative light.

Two of Vasquez’s men come down within minutes. With the help of the manager, they move him with ease. There isn’t quite a brig yet but there are some broom closets in the comms center that would do nicely. It takes a bit of effort not to laugh after remembering that he went down stiff as a board.

When you arrive back at the center, you have them leave the unconscious one in the closet and bar the door. You take the manager into a side room and ask him, “Tell me what that was about.”

He doesn’t move more than breathing, he remains passive. “He unrightfully claimed that he wasn’t being paid his wage and demanded more money. I told him that he should stop spending it on grorcha. The exchange continued until he pulled out his knife. It was an uncoordinated and brash move, which he paid for.” You were there, that sresh’s anger was almost out of control. “Why’d you ruffle through his pockets?” You ask.

“He’d lost the right to have it after what he did. His pay is now a reparation for attacking me.” You’ve got the manager’s PDA and you start to look through it for pay history. While you’re doing that, you radio for some of your men to ask questions about the cheat and the manager. The questions mostly focus on previous incidents, history, and what in god’s name grorcha is.

You know what to look for with these finance reports. Your father had you looking through them for inconsistencies since you were 12. It takes a little time to notice it, but when you do it screams at you. The manager has been skimming off of everyone’s pay. Only a little, but it’s added up over the years. No one would notice if they never got a hold of the files.

Reports from you men are starting to come in, confirming much of what the manager’s said. The cheat’s been rambling for months about how he’s being stolen from. Most of the time he was intoxicated. Turns out that grorcha is a powerful and addictive numbing agent. He’d caused public disturbances in the middle of the sleeping period.

But what to do with them? You’re sure the manager still has money that he’d be willing to pay and keep paying. Or you could expose him to the workers who’d want a word with him. Though the cheat could definitely be disposed of quietly.

Once he gets questioned give him 3 days of jail and two weeks of work without pay, anything needed to survive will be provided.

It is morning. Due to the excitement of last night, you find yourself alone in bed. Ben slept near the door, wearing his armor with his father's sword nearby, in case anything should happen. Alex tended to Kaylessa with spells of healing and prayers of recovery while Merriam and Faye worked together to get things cleaned up. When it was all done, everyone was far too tired and slept in individual beds.

The first thing that crosses your mind when you awaken is a rather simple thought with a complex implication: 'Tonight is the night.'

You have agreed to attend a sabbath. The local hags invited you, as they apparently share an enemy with you: Mordrax. They will not be the only group in attendance, as apparently a number of dark practitioners will be involved, all to decide who shall rule as the next Witch Queen. Tonight, you are to head southwest of Francis' tower and find a circle of stones where you will meet the hags.

Closing your eyes again, you rub your head. You've already got something of a headache from these last two days and tonight isn't shaping up to be much better. But you'd best get ready -- in one way or another, you'll have to deal with these hags. They know who you are, and as the list of people who know the truth about you grows, the uneasier you get. Already bounty hunters, paladins and a chunk of the general populace are searching for you, so it would be in your best interest to confront them and get them on your side, or possibly eliminate them.

First thing's first, you'll have to determine if you'll be going there alone or not. Best to check on your companions and see what state they are in.

Your presence here is tied to the nature of the storm-ravaged Kraegsk - north of resource-rich islands and a major naval warzone, the floating wrecks of great warships are carried by the currents to smash against the jagged coasts of the Kraegsk. You are to recover Citadel personnel from wrecks, protect salvage ships, and ensure that the enemy Republic and its craven mercenaries does not gain control of the Kraegsk from their own naval base, at the opposite end of the archipelago. Every month, a convoy of cargo ships picks up scrap that cannot be used or embezzled by the forces of the Kraegsk and takes it back to the naval yards of your homeland - loss of these ships is unacceptable.

Before the Citadel-Republic war, the Kraegsk was inhabited by a series of destitute fishing communities living in the shadow of the ruins of the old Astaeran Empire. Now they are forced into the service of the belligerents, powerless to resist the meager forces allocated to the Kraegsk.

You've been on patrol for several days, and have managed to sink a Republic raider, save the crew of a scrapper ship, and upgrade your ship at Sbvysek Island. Recently, you've disabled a Republic bombardment ship in the midst of a fierce storm, and have anchored at the leeward side of Rinyak Island to wait out the bad weather. The battered Republic ship has gone aground somewhere on the other side of the island, and you're preparing a landing party.

On today's episode, we'll be returning to controlling Akayama Kaito, who has just lost his entire team and many of his allies due to the sudden attack of Triborg, heralding the rise of the Tekunin Clan and the dawn of machine dominance. Not too content with this sort of thing, and already very much troubled from other recent events, Kaito has withdrawn to Edenia with the magical orb that can allow him this one chance to change the past and save the future.

Kaito spends the better part of an hour explaining the situation to Ryan, who remains quiet for most of the time. He sits upon his coral throne passively, occasionally tapping his fingers on its arms, all the while listening to the explanation. Johnny spends most of this time leaning up against the cavern wall as small glowing lights circle the ceiling, illuminating the chamber. As Kaito goes in-depth, Ryan listens intently, his face obscured by the diving helm he wears. The only sign of his continued attention comes from the occasional nod of his head.

"So, that brings us to here," Kaito finally finishes. He waits for a response from Ryan, and when none comes, he looks over at Johnny, who shrugs. Kaito asks the strange man, "Is there anything you wanted to know? Or..."

Then, Ryan speaks. "Two things. One: How long have you had the orb now?"

Kaito's eyes drift off to one side. "A while now. It was thought that we could use it to spy on our enemies."

"I see." He doesn't say anything more on that point. "Two: did you talk about this, your plan to come see me, outside of this cave? This cave where I can keep Aegis from listening to us?"

Kaito blinks a few times. "Yes... to Johnny."

Ryan brings a hand up to his mask's face and rubs it across the viewing window like one would do so to their own face. "Fantastic. Then Aegis knows we're coming, so the element of surprise is lost."

"I hadn't considered that," Kaito replies. "Johnny had just lost his family and---"

"Stop, please, I know. I don't really care about that."

Johnny steps off the wall. "Excuse me?"

Kaito holds up a hand. "Don't. He doesn't care about individuals, he cares about the whole."

"I'm here, you know," Ryan says, somewhat annoyed. "I can speak for myself."

Johnny gently pushes Kaito's hand down. "Then why don't you? You've been doing a lot of listening but I don't see you trying to help us."

Before Kaito can protest, Ryan stands up from his throne. Rather than addressing Johnny's point directly, he instead replies, "I'm going to add a third question to my first two: why do you think I'll let you time travel?"

Twice now that reality is forced to break, and both times feature Havik as a major instigator. Fuck him.
